WATCH LIVE: Antifreeze Murder Retrial - WI v. Mark Jensen - Sentencing

- Опубликовано: 13 апр 2023
- Mark Jensen was charged in 2002 for the 1998 death of his wife Julie Jensen and convicted in 2008. Prosecutors say he poisoned his wife with antifreeze and then smothered her with a pillow when she wasn't dying fast enough. In 2013 a federal judge overturned that life sentence, arguing a letter Julie had written before her death shouldn't have been admitted as evidence. In that letter, Julie wrote that she was afraid her husband would try and kill her. Jensen will now face trial for a second time in January 2023.
Reminder: The defendant, Mark Jensen, is wearing headphones because he’s hard of hearing. Thanks.

What utter nonsense by his defense! Mark caused EVERY hardship to his boys by murdering their mother, and now asks for mercy because they only have him?!? How could she seriously present this to this great judge? Justice would only be served if Julie’s brothers force fed antifreeze to Mark Jensen themselves, but of course, a civilized society doesn’t do that. I couldn’t even listen to all of the defense statement! Omgggg
Agree completely. When his attorney started a sentence with"When Julie left ...", I wanted to scream! She had to sugarcoat her death, absolutely disgusting.
I really despise how defense attorneys go way beyond their duty to make evil murderers look like saints. This is sick...
That never happens tho....
its their job
Thank you Judge. I remember this case well and he got what he deserved in the first trial and again thank you for continuing to give him exactly what he deserves.
Rest in peace, Julie 🙏🏻💖
Good for people like you to give him an audience….

He stays where he should be thank you Judge!
God Bless this Judge! We need more like him!
❤Amen!❤
This judge saw this pos for who he is & said everything I was thinking. Bravo.👍🏻👏🏻 Finally justice for Julie may she now RIP.😢
As he was whining about not seeing his boys etc etc I was screaming exactly what this judge said…what about Julie?! 🤬Too bad she didn’t run off with Perry and fight for custody.😢I hope at a minimum Douglas can be with his uncles and learn about his mom moving forward.
So happy for this ruling.
The judge is wonderful ❤
The excruciating torture of Julie and slowly killing her day by day for a very long time was heinous. I hope his children (all adults) can reverse some of that brainwashing.
I'm sure that they know much more about the case than us..
He also stalked her as another person for 15 years!
the youngest son changed his mind. the older one is still brainwashed
Julie Jensen never "left" her family and this convict doesnt have a "room" in prison. He tortured and then murdered her. Byebye convict for life
Bless this judge for doing the right thing!
No one cares what he did in the community or activities with his sons. He killed their mother and didn't even have the guts to admit it to his children. He is not even close to being a father.
When Mark mentioned how he wants to be there for his boys, I said: “What about Julie?”
LOVE that the judge said that out loud. 💯
I love this judge and how he didn't forget anything ❤
My heart aches for Julie, her two sons, and her brothers.
The fact that someone thinks nothing of torturing and killing another human being - also showing total disregard for the pain and suffering they inflict on everyone that the victim leaves behind, is beyond selfish and evil.
M.J. doesn't deserve to move around freely in society, amongst the rest of us - as he clearly lacks a conscience.
The only way he gets out of prison should be in a plain, wooden box.
The sons' mother didn't leave, she was murdered
"When his mom LEFT???????" LEFT????? How dare you say such a thing?? She didn't leave, you (insert expletive), she was intentionally, brutally, sadistically and methodically murdered by your client. Shame on you!
The defense's statement made me physically ill. How dare she speak of love? This monster crushed his children's lives intentionally, brutally, sadistically and methodically. The only thing he loves is penises and himself.
Thank you Judge, he is where he belongs. His attorney is ridiculous.
They lost their mom or you killed their mom? This guy is not sorry for his actions.
I couldn't stand listening before he himself spoke, my ears hurt, my heart is pained for the family, children and of course the deceased, I feel sorry for all of them.
I choose not to judge, but this man hasn't started reaping in Judgement, he will like all of us, will stand before his our Maker.
I will still go back and listen to what he had to say, but not tonight. Geez, what a world we all live in.
Have a great weekend.
Not sorry at all 👺
Thank you, your honour. Mark tortured Julie for a decade before murdering her and continues to dishonour her memory. Julie's loved ones deserve peace, I hope knowing mark will never have the opportunity to walk the streets helps.
Praise the Judge 100% God bless him, as he will!!
oh I whould love to see Mr. Jambois reaction now. Well done prosecution team. Finally justice for Julie.🙏
Who is Mr Jambois?
@@lottie8970 The other prosecutor in the case. He was the prosecutor in the original trial and he returned for the retrial as a special prosecutor. The older woman at the prosecution table is his wife.
Mark is a narcissist to the highest degree. Julie is the one that told Mark about the affair and then Mark went crazy. Julie filed for a divorce and then he started torturing her. The only way Julie was leaving Mark is in a body bag and it happened. Mark still has disdain for Julie and is not sorry for murdering her. He is in the right place, PRISON.
He could divorce her not kill her in such a terrible way
THANK YOU JUDGE!! LIFE WITH NO PAROLE!! he can rot in jail xxxx RIP JULIE XXX
I watch the entire trail, I'm so thankful he will never get out, mental ill, sick person!
If he truly wants to let his family "heal and move on" then he better not appeal! He said he would accept the courts ruling - was that a lie too?
You know that's a lie. His lawyer said that he already started the appeal. But to let everybody move on he should just stay in jail and accept his fate like Julie had to accept hers
Hahahaha! Of course that was a lie! When the judge mentioned appeal and his attorney immediately said "already did it", I physically cringed. His defense team was despicable. I am so pleased with the judge and with attorney Jambois! Those gentlemen are my heroes!
@New Yorkie I had to cover the tv or look away when the camera was on that killer. He literally makes me sick. Creepy guy.
This defense atty should be shut down, what an insult to the victim and her loved ones...He loved his kids???? He murdered their mother! What a disgrace!
She's beyond disgusting and I don't mean just her emetic enunciation.
Excellent sum up by Judge.
Such an intelligent honorable judge.
It was perfect!
How Julie must have felt when he was suffocating her while he was sitting on her painful frail body.
I hope this monster suffers in prison but I suspect suffering isn't possible because he doesn't have a conscience
It was good to see this Judge again and he was as terrific as always. His statement pertaining to the possibility of parole couldn't have been any better. The defense attorney next to mark turned red when the sentence was announced.I know she was only doing what she was hired to do and it was no easy feat. I'm happy with the results!😊
Wtf does he and his lawyer think his past as a stock broker and a construction worker have to do with the fact that he murdered his wife? Are those things supposed to make up for that? 🤨
Thank God that smirk on his face got wiped away when the jury found him guilty! Byeeeee Jensen! Rest In Peace Julie, you finally got justice ❤️
Now that’s JUSTICE!! Thank you Judge!!
omg im in love with this judge!!!! speakin the truth. thank you thank you. justice for julie finally.
May Julie rest in peace and may her children come to realize the truth and fully understand how much their mother loved and adored them! May the family find comfort in the sentence! May he never get out! Thank you judge for justice for Julie! 💔💔💔😢😢😢🙏🙏🙏💞💞💞
He's so creepy, the way he stares at people. Poor Julie had to look at his face and that cold creepy stare everyday she was married to him.
Love love love this judge ❤tells it as it should be ❤great summing up speech ❤
It sickening how they have to defend him...I'd have a hard time with life if I was the one who had to defend people like this.
They are not forced to defend anyone, they just want to make money. I have no time for greedy lawyers
The way the system works benefits the wealthy best. If Mark had been wealthier, he could have gotten away with the murder. Everything in government is corruptible, because government is fundamentally corrupt. A related paradox/illusion is: since government is fundamentally corrupt, how can one corrupt what is already corrupt? This suggests that what people consider to be evidence or aspects of "good government" is generally arbitrary.
It’s their job to defend them. My defense attorney was once the top prosecutor in the county I live in. Lawyers defend their clients. State attorneys defend the people.
@@jaiachin9579 I am an intelligent, educated person; I know that it is 'their job' to defend people. But personally, I would not be interested in taking that job. Never. I would never EVER spend my time doing my best to have a violent killer released back into society to murder more innocent people. Their blood would be on my hands. Maybe it is a question of integrity. Jaia Chin probably has no integrity, he/she probably doesn't care. Personally, I would NEVER EVER allow myself to be paid to defend the clearly guilty. Never.
What's ironic is alot of good defense attorneys were once prosecutors.
He really talks like he is ENTITLED to parole!
Wouldn't it be wonderful IF the murderers could receive as punishment the same poison they gave their victims?
Thank you Your Honor, you have given Julie and her family justice. He is still being shown more mercy than he ever showed her.
Mark's look of amazement at the verdict was very satisfying.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!! AT LAAAAST justice for Julie and her family 👏👏 we've been waiting for this for over TWENTY YEARS!!!!!!!!
Thanks to the judge and prosecutor for doing an amazing job to bring this monster to justice, I know Julie's sons and family will never get full closure and that is the hardest thing about this, the fact it was totally senseless and robbed two small boys of their beautiful mother, he never once thought about his sons and their love for their adoring mum, rest in peace Julie xx
1:00:00 I love how clearly this judge sees the evidence, how the fog that managed to blind so many and wasn’t even an ocean spray to a lighthouse with him.
THANK YOU judge. You got this 💯 right. There are some real doozies at Dodge Correctional. Mark Jensen. Chris Watts. Darrell Brooks. Chandler Halderson. Not sure who the worst of the worst is…. Sad and sickening!
Wow! I didn't realize they were all there.
Too bad he was from Wisconsin and not Texas.
Thank you, Judge and DA’s Office for getting it all done right!! You know, when you are found guilty, not once, but twice… there should be no appeals for anything!! For ANYTHING!!!
College graduate making over $200K/year. His wife cheated and he hated her so much because of it that instead of just leaving, he had already found someone else, he still couldn't resist making her pay (even more than how he'd already made her pay by the psychological torture he'd put her through) by taking her life. Yes she chose to cheat on him, and the consequence of that infidelity was the deterioration of their marriage and the breakdown of their family, which are huge, huge consequences for anyone to have to deal with. He just had to give her the ultimate punishment for what she did by taking her life, however he wasn't qualified to be judge, jury and executioner for her mistake. No one is qualified enough to say when someone else should die. Being that he took it upon himself to do so instead of just moving on with his life and enjoying his new relationship, the only just punishment is life in prison. Some people can only dream to live the life he lived, yet he threw it all away over hatred and vengeance. A waste.
One has to consider why she cheated. It was wrong, but she felt so bad about her mistake that she felt she had to come clean and apologize over and over. She asked for his forgiveness. If he couldn't give it to her, just as you said, he should have gotten a divorce like normal people and moved on.
I agree with the judge that it's especially heinous that he chose to torture her mentally for years, then torture her with a painful, horrible death. The judge made the right decision. I hope Julie's boys will reunite with her brothers and learn what kind of person and mother she was.
Hey kids, I'm not gonna erase pictures of your mom, I'm just going to erase her.
Exactly. He will help them remember how wonderful she was and what a wonderful life they had 🤯
He says the kids already lost one parent and he wanted to be out so they had at least one parent. Well, they would've had both parents, if not for his depraved actions.."Under the jail, not in it! Hope he meets his fate in prison, along with Chris Watts!!🎯💯🎯💯😡💩💩
I fast forwarded through Jensens statement. Blah Blah
I hope Julie's kids find peace in life knowing their mama is watching over them 🙏
He should be force fed antifreeze. That would be justice. It would fit his crime. I don't consider doing to a killer what was done to their victims cruel or unusual. Its recompense. As long as there's no shadow of a doubt.
So you're a murderer?..
What about people who are subsequently exonerated?..They ALWAYS think there's no shadow of a doubt at the time!
Best answer!
I wish he could be force fed and then as he's gasping for air have someone he loves sit on him forcing his head into a pillow suffocating him. That would be justice.
@@barbaragroh8514 Amen.
When Mark was talking, I heard this - 'blah blah blah'. I did not hear him say he was sorry nor did he apologize to Julie's family. Did I miss something??
Total respect judge, I am so thankful Julie Jenson has you to deliver the final punishment of this horrific situation.
Awesome judge!!! 👏 👏
He is so disgusting am I missing something I didn't hear any love or mention of missing Julie. Only comments about himself and his pretend concern for his children. I am so relieved the judge didn't give him any chance at parole.
I love this judge!!!! Way to go judge!!! Thank you for giving justice to Julie and her family, God bless you ❤❤❤❤❤
How is he a low risk not to reoffen, he even tried to kill the guy in his office that was going to testify on him
Exactly, smh his defense is pathetic and so is he!!
Good! Justice is served and the judges comments were perfect! Thank you Judge!
Love you Judge. Thank God for your closing statement to the Defendant. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love this judge!!💙
Thank you Judge!

Now they can add his name back on Murderpedia.
“I didn’t kill Julie”. “ I loved her”. Where’s that?? It’s about him and him. And him
I watched this trial in full. It's a shame I missed this live, but justice prevails. Jensen got what he deserved. I hope Julie can rest in peace and her family can gain some peace.
More tax payers money going to keep him alive for the rest of his miserable life, what a wicked waste of money.
Sentencing someone (where applicable...) to death costs taxpayers way more than it does to keep them alive in a cell.
And, for a prisoner, a death sentence is the easy way out.
While rotting away in prison, I'd like to see any 'privileges' taken away - one for every year that passes, until there are none left.
Also, moving the prisoner to a cell that's noticeably smaller than the space they're currently in (also on a regular basis...) would be an additional form of punishment.
I agree with both but if we were to-go back to public hanging there'd be tons less crime I think and less money wasted. Also if the prisons were more like Arizona or Siberia that'd keep more people from committing crimes. Prisons are too soft.
@@lena-mariaglouis-charles7036
Completely agreed. It’s amazing how many people don’t realize how much more it costs to put people to death.
I’d pay directly out of my own pocket to have the enjoyment of knowing this pos will live a miserable, boring, degrading life day in and day out until someone sticks him m
Thank you judge!!! You said exactly what I was saying while listening to thr defense and that jerk talk. Julie cannot see her kids!!! And only one thing I'd say about it. The character assassination after the fact. Saying she was suicidal. Prayers to thr families.
Man, sons don't need only a father for going fishing! They need to learn how to treat women well and respectfully! From who they should learn this!? From the murderer of their mother!?! He don't deserve even life!!
Mark Jensen is only crying for himself.
"What about Julie?," the judge asks.
I was hoping he would have shown remorse for what he did. But he can’t because he is going to appeal. Everything is about him. He cannot be rehabilitated.
Classic summary by the judge.
No, he doesnt get a do over after what he did to Julie, he took her life and robbed his children of knowing her. She doesnt get a second chance. " My parents need me.. ." well so did his kids, he decided her fate for her, he's a physcopath, a liar and a digusting pervert
Must be weird seeing people after all these years in this setting..how life can turn out...
How can they heal with him around?? He cause the death of there mother ? He caused mental anguish for his family..He can stop the pain by facing what he did and serving his time so they can move on..
I agree. Another appeal will just drag it on longer. But what else should we expect from him? He's a monster.
Definitely the right sentence.
Her brothers where so dignified with there words not sure I could been like tht got lot anger in me still over my brother being killed 10yrs ago he was my only brother was just him me mum he was 27 miss him so much thts him in my pic with my son was only 18 at time
I'm so sorry you lost your brother. I lost my big sister, and I miss her every day.
Julie finally got justice as well as all her relatives who still suffer from her absence. 🤍
Jensen decided to cruelly take Julie's life, the judge has now decided that he will be in prison for the rest of his.
Hearing the lawyer discredit Douglas' letter and memories, saying that he could have expressed his fears to his father, upset me to no end. When your mother is dead in her bed and you saw her alive in the morning before leaving for school, it’s a terrible shock. Soon after, your father brings a new woman into your life and "replaces" your mother (I don’t blame her, Kelly isn’t the one who killed Julie). It is more than normal to feel fears, anger, confusion after all they’ve been through. Stop trying to play in their heads, it’s soooo wrong!
Yes, justice is served.
Yes judge 👏👏👏
Peace be with you Julie 💜 Australia
Good job, Judge
He has the shiftiest eyes I’ve ever seen 👀
Thank you judge
Not once did he mention Julie and the damaged he’s done it’s all about him and him wanting to be with his kids should’ve never killed her and you would’ve watch them grow
Love this judge and his decorum.
Smh, this dude destroyed so much. He's not remorseful, and still is MANIPULATIVE especially to his son's. I love & respect this JUDGE, he definitely gave a voice to JULIE. Her brothers seems like wonderful men who loved her dearly. Hopefully one day her son's will see that and gain a relationship with them 🙏🏿!!!
I agree. I really hope they get to hear what she was really like, and know that she didn't leave them; she was taken.
I love watching the victim impact statements, it humbles me.
SO, WHAT ARE THEY HOPING WILL HAPPEN IN THIS RETRIAL?
TO HAVE THE LIFE SENTENCE REINSTATED?
Exactly what a waste of tax payer's money he's as Guilty today as he was then. Justice served. Rip JJ🙏
He looks like an evil psychopathic monster!! Poor Julie! And her poor babies💔😢🦋💙
I love this judge!
It’s so sad he has had influence in his sons lives. I hope they have not absorbed any of his character and get to live good and decent lives.
He got what he deserved thanks to the prosecutors, the witnesses and ultimately the judge.
Boom. So happy for Julie's family and that he will NEVER BE FREE. He's leaving prison in a pine box, and even THAT is too good for him!
Julie never left her kids, he took her away from them -shame on you defense
Great empathetic and compassionate judge
You reap what you sow
Glad he will never get out glad he will ROT feel for his kids now lost 2 parents all because this monster
M. Jensen says.. "This case has gone on forever..........." I just cannot forgive this murder..idk this man so this feeling is completely looking from the outside..this murder was intentional and this deceased
mother may have committed adultery but idt
that she should've been murdered and especially so torturous ..i believe that this woman was hoping for forgiveness and was
literally trapped...just too many horrible, selfish acts..he should not be given parole ever..I appreciate the decision/ruling of this honorable Judge
