You’re welcome. Your username interested me, watched one of your videos. Very nice. Did I hear you calling out letter names? My unconventional sight reading lessons might speed your progress a little :)
Dear Jane, I am from singapore and I have had piano lessons for 3 years, back in 2013; then stopped, due to financial issues. Now, I have been playing on my own ever since, on and off; and learning the polonaise brilliante 22 piece now, with the help of your videos too. It is very challenging and I am only at the 4th page. I hope I can play it by the end of 2021. Thank you so much for making such videos that are accessible to all, you are an angel and my biggest regret is to only find your channel out recently. Stay safe and healthy, Maam.
Enjoyed reading your message, R C. Glad you find my tutorials useful. Good luck practicing the polonaise, that is a difficult piece, but with determination, you will succeed. There are many easier and wonderful pieces to learn, hope you get to try those in the future. Thanks for writing!
I think I'm getting it is very revealing the "relationship" between these and appreciating them. Waw you're soo good Jane, the others are good, too but the coin hs dropped, as we say, on your video... amazing😃! Maybe listening, looking and going to sleep the subconscious had some sorting out to do for me and now reading your lovely comment I listened again and hurray... mistery solved, yupeee! Thank you to all bless you👏🙏🙂
I'm pleased you've grasped these concepts. Studies indicate that sleeping immediately after learning enhances the process. I experienced this firsthand after a brief 15-minute nap; what had been challenging before became easier. Enjoy your learning journey! ❤️
Hi Ole, feedback showed that next lesson was unnecessary. Instead, I continued with the Czerny op.599 that consisted of 100 exercises arranged in order of difficulty. It made for a more organized way to continue. Please see my sight reading webpage for more info and other opuses that were later added to facilitate sight reading. [edit] the piano tutorial webpage contains the list of tutorials I made. Many Mozart and Bach pieces are listed, the easier ones are marked with a star *.
The trills that begin on the upper note: Hmm. In the Bach period you have long trills and short. These trills really mess up my head. I am gathering whether the trills are long or short; it starts on the upward and ends on the downward. I agree with Jane that trills are nerve racking. Any rookie audience will not know the difference anyway. Play 'em as you feel folks.
Thank you, Veronica. Just 10 lessons in this format. The link in the video description would lead you to my sight-reading webpage. Or click my name to get to my website and use the side menu. After this 10th lesson, I continue with the 100 Czerny Op.599 as examples and further teaching. We live in Florida, USA. But I am Australian also, because I was born in Melbourne :)
Amazing to find out you are not only a fantastic teacher but Australian too! How lucky I am to have found your site. I wish I could have you as a private teacher, still I have found your site and that is a blessing. Via Con Dios Jane. Veronica

Excellent H B. Next, choose one of these composers to practice sight-reading. No need to ace the pieces. Making mistakes and kicking ourselves is part of the learning process. Czerny Op. 599: 100 Exercises for Beginners Bartok Mikrokosmos Beyer Op. 101 Re the Tokyo Ghoul, you can practice 2 measures at a time. You already know what it should sound like, right? Paste it all together in a year :)
Good, maybe after playing them really slow you should give an example taken from a recording or play them at the proper speed, otherwise, it confuses the inexperienced.
It’s better to refer to these when we run into them and have doubts. Pianists often ignore rules and play what they feel sounds best! It’s impossible to provide examples for each case.
@@janepianotutorials You must've missed the part "or play them at the proper speed" and even if, you could even think to give multiple examples for each taken by recordings, or just select what you consider to be the most literal.

Does anyone know the difference between tr and the symbol for trill?
the letters tr are used as an abbreviation for the trill, vs. a graphic symbol. played the same way.

@@vimaladhithyanraja Great, let’s see you back up your words with action. Create a tutorial to show me what you can do.
Showing how these are counted would be useful since most involve 32nd notes.
We learn that while learning pieces, because the number of turns differs, it depends on what fits into that particular transition.
Jane may I ask you how to play the "turn" in a Chopin nocturne, op 9,no 2 . There is a "turn" symbol in the 2nd measure. thanks
+robviolin1 make tutorial for that piece, if unclear, you can slow that turn further using the speed tool
+Jane ok - I will look for that vid. Also, what is a speed tool?
It is under each youtube video. Tool icon is on bottom right
+Jane I can't find the speed tool. Do you mean a metronome? I found your vid on Chopin "tune". :)
not a metronome. the tool icon shows on windows. if apple, download a speed app
