@@eggdogtim8593 It's alright. I must admit I was [gags] republican and voted for Bush in '00. That was the last time, though.
If we actually want viable third parties, they need to start locally first. No way are the members of the House or Senate going to work with a president who is not in their party. So, start getting members in the House and Senate first.
This is solid advice.
@@jnmsks6052 as I said we are doing just that
They should start even lower. Local councils and state houses would be good places to start. Build a base in a friendly state (e.g. Oregon/California for the Green Party). Form coalitions with major parties to get specific laws passed, build your campaign apparatus so that people know what you are about, create pragmatic policies that speak to the issues the average person is facing (not just your followers) etc.
What I think is that the party leaders all know that but are more willing to run grifts. Jill Stein has been running for president since 2012 yet no significant changes in the Green Party. Their only purpose is to act as spoiler candidates, get their 15 minutes of fame and then fade away after the presidential election.
@@jnmsks6052 the thing is that when it comes to grifters like stein and RFK, they could give a rats ass about them being viable and so they’d rather run nationality to help themselves.

The problem is RFK jr is a crackpot and a grifter. I’m sympathetic to third party and independent voters - I really am. I voted third party as recently as 2012. The two-party system is so deeply flawed and I hate the perverse incentives it makes for division, extremism, infighting, and power struggles. I wish we had a multiparty system. I could see myself being in a Green-type party.
I understand why people feel ill-served by the government and our economic system. Our laws and our financial system frequently make a complete mockery of our ideals as a country. But the answer to that is absolutely NOT indulging fringe ideas and conspiracy theories. The endorsement of Anti-Vaxx stuff is a particularly bitter pill for me and a strike on his judgement that I just can’t see past.
In my humble opinion, RFK Jr doesn’t represent a reprieve from a lesser of two evils; it makes it a choice between the lesser of three.
And finally, his endorsement of Trump is particularly rankling to me. Trump fails to check a single checkbox for what I look for in principled leadership. Particularly his ongoing refusal to accept the results of free and fair elections, and the MAGA movement’s broader ambitions to purge the administrative state of dissent. It’s a threat that represents less freedom and less wellbeing for everyone in this country.
To complain about the nastiness of our politics and then to turn around and endorse Trump is the height of hypocrisy. And if his endorsement tips a narrow election in Trump’s favor, I don’t think he can ever be forgiven.
Explain to me why people love third parties when they’re useless and in europe which has many parties politics are insanely divided
Why does trump not meet a criteria as a leader?
and yet your fine with democrats in 2016 calling trump an illegitimate president
To me the argument that Trump trampled personal freedoms will never hold any water to me I've never seen that amount of unchecked rioting in my lifetime and I'm in my 40s.... That is what absolute freedom looks like, we had absolute freedom under President Trump..... Including the freedom to "talk" about wanting to overthrow the government.... After the January 6th commission I'm not sure that freedom of discussion to overthrow the government exists anymore

Yeah, I don’t get it how they say their anti-pharma I may be wrong, but, Harris is the one that says she wants to lower the price of is and be against “ price gouging” and I don’t think Trump has said anything about that so from objective standpoint if you don’t like big Pharma, shouldn’t you vote for harris.
What exactly have harris and the democrats done to stop big pharma corruption in our federal regulatory agencies? You think the people that raked in billions for the pharmaceuticals because of vaccine mandates are going to do anything to stop them?
No because “price gauging” as she put it isn’t a thing and is outright price control. But you ignore trump DID cap insulin with an executive order during covid which Biden repealed only to pass it via congress and take political laps.

And presidential elections are the biggest stage where third parties can ever gain traction if there is a figure with enough name recognition running.
The primary process for the two major parties is somewhat flawed because usually half of the declared candidates typically drop out after the first three contests.

@@iammrbeat That's the thing though, RFK JR had a platform that could uniquely appeal to both sides of the aisle: his populism was captivating enough to anti-biden Dems (on the more progressive-left side) and disaffected Trumpists (mainstream GOP) to get people from both sides in the same room. Cornell West is a leftist splinter, he doesn't have a centrist nucleus to graft his movement around-if Kennedy weren't a grifter he would've had a potent group of experienced volunteers and staff. Yeah. To me, it just doesn't make much sense. He probably disagrees with Trump on 75% of issues.
@@iammrbeat this is probably through my bias, but he agrees with trump on the main issue of the establishment, Donald Trump is far from an establishment candidate as is RFK. In my eyes Trump is the biggest middle finger I can give to establishment, republican and democrat, that has screwed the American people for the last 70 years and that has tried endlessly to eliminate this man. Honestly I am worried that trump will not remove "the swamp" as he calls it and just replace it with his own people has he did his last term. The RFK endorsement gives me a sliver of hope that RFK really thinks trump might at least attempt to root out corruption, and the bureaucratic bloat. This endorsement is not grifiting or unthinkable of any fashion, RFK understand who runs this country and he thinks that Trump with all his glaring flaws is the only person capable at this point to do anything about it. A shame isn't it.
@@iammrbeatif you listen to his speech he gave before the trump rally he laid out the reasons. As someone who followed his campaign closely they make sense. Although I disagree with trump and will not be voting for anyone as a result of this decision it makes sense why he did it.
This is a man who had his family murdered under questionable circumstances. He says he is going to run for president and his party enforces many unconstitutional laws to kick him out of the primary, they then use lawfare to keep him off the ballots. (Kennedy got more signatures to be on the ballot than any American in history) they didn’t give him secret service protection and effectively just sucked all his money away until he couldn’t win. He is very passionate about the chronic disease crisis and finding the root cause to it and trump said if he endorsed him he could pursue it.
He couldn’t win, he sees the democrats (in my opinion rightfully due to the actions they have taken this year but it is nuanced) as anti democratic oligarchs and he was given the opportunity to fix the issue that matters most to him. It makes perfect sense
I think RFK wasn't acting on his feelings. If you are not voting for Trump just because he has character flaws, then there's plenty in the Democratic party. Some even worse than Trump. One actually was even elected for a second term, maybe because they liked his policies. If one listened to RFKs full speech and what the Dems were doing to both Trump and RFK, using the Justice system to keep your political opponents out of the ballot should scare the hell out of every day Americans! These kinds of things happen in third world countries! I think most people are suffering from TDS.

🤯🤯
Hopefully you are in a deep blue or red state
You know, I fully sympathize with those who want another option, who want to break the power of the duopoly, and who don't like the massive division and antipathy between the two major parties. I voted 3rd party myself in 2016, though because that got us Trump, I will not do so again until we get RCV, or scored voting, or approval voting. The result is not worth it.
I really hate that the popular 3rd party candidate this time was a conspiracy-theory pushing anti-vaxxer with a famous name. Brain worms (to get an advantage in his divorce case, no less!), a bear carcass in Central Park--he's just nuts! And his supporters are saying how much they trust him! He was just doing what he had to do, they said. He's just furthering his message, they said.
I find it ironic that so many of these speakers say they trust Kennedy, when clearly his actions and statements in his writing contradict his public statements ("I'm not anti-vaccine! I just want more testing and research!" vs. his books, his movie, his social media). Childhood vaccines have been tested exhaustively and have been shown to be far safer than being unvaccinated. And every year, millions of people are added to the safety data. His big stand was on thimerosol and autism. The autism link has been thoroughly debunked, and so has thimerosol (an anti-microbial agent that he created such a stink about it that it was removed from most vaccines anyway).
I also feel that he's being dishonest when he claims that there's a conspiracy of censorship against vaccine risks and his campaign. Nobody censored him. They did, however, remove false information once it was thoroughly fact checked. He must consider it censorship to have platforms refuse to post false content.
News organizations only cover stuff that will get them viewers and clicks. They did mention his campaign--for all the months he was doing it, but it certainly didn't get the coverage that the two major parties got. But that's not a conspiracy, that's just the nature of national politics and the media. It's no wonder news media wants to distance themselves from his crazy conspiracy theories. It's bad enough to have combatative Trump surrogates on, but to have someone that few people are interested in spouting nonsense that is going to hurt public health? That would seriously damage their credibility as accurate news disseminators.
I fully support breaking the duopoly. But I support democracy more. So I will vote for and advocate for open primaries and for better methods of voting. But I will not vote 3rd party while there's felon on the ballot that has tried to stop the peaceful transition of power, that is constantly attacking the elections rules, laws, and systems. His nonsense was also debunked time and time again.
I'm not voting for Trump under any circumstances. You're fucking insane.

@Mr Beat - Hey, I was formerly one of those Kennedy supporters, and I even worked on the campaign along with Brody in the video - I'll tell you this much: at least from the student side of the movement, the primary reason students supported the campaign was for its idealism and centrist stance. As young Americans we're all tired of the two party system and its increasing polarization from the middle of the political compass. Through a third party run we saw political centrism, regardless of the ideological beliefs of the candidate. I believe that most students inserted their own idealism into the campaign, an insertion that unfortunately didn't comport to a political reality. What Kennedy did was his decision, but on an ideological basis, it was a betrayal. For him, it made sense. For the movement, it didn't. The majority of Americans are independent. Its about time we recognize that reality and expand the political system to all who wish to participate.

How is our society not aware of these stark facts? That’s a problem.
@@cearafoley6588 your interpretation of “sickest kids” comes down to the ability of us for the largest collection of data in human history. Do you think Alzheimer’s disease suddenly started in about the 1930’s? Because that when the first records of the disease were put down in writing… or PERHAPS we started to become aware of what “geriatric madness” actually was, and how it was identified by Dr Alzheimer. TL/DR: diagnosis is up because of increased healthcare. New diseases can occur, but labeling of diseases on patients is more common and breaks the statistical analysis without adjusting for the inflation of data recorded.
