  • If you’ve looked into technical diving, you realize that tec divers always wear more than one tank. Sidemount is an increasingly popular way to configure multiple cylinders for technical diving. You can enter the world of tec diving with the PADI Tec Sidemount Diver Course and apply what you learn to other TecRec courses. Your instructor may also offer to integrate this course with the Tec 40, Tec 45 or Tec 50 courses.
If you’re a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, at least 18 years old and have a minimum of 30 logged dives, you qualify to enroll in a Tec Sidemount Diver course. It’s recommended that you also have a PADI Enriched Air Diver certification.
Note that qualifying certifications from other diver training organizations may apply - ask your Tec Sidemount Instructor.
    What will you learn?
You’ll learn about the advantages of diving with a sidemount configuration and how to set up a tec sidemount harness. You’ll get hands-on training during one confined water session and four open water dives where you’ll start with two tanks and add at least two more, maybe even getting to six sidemounted cylinders.
Knowledge Development Session, Equipment Workshop, Confined Water & 4 Training Dives.
This video demonstrates the basic skills required for safe tec sidemount diving.

Just a question. Why aren't you using some kind to break away point for the second stage in the longhose to ease doning gas when on the shorthose? Shouln't that be more effective in a real situation?
BTW, excellent diver, a pitty de video takes that long to show everything.

What are you taking about? The long hose is unclipped and pulled out from the bands.

@@phoenixrising4573 Alvaro is right- The problem is that the clip can sometimes freeze/get stuck. In which case you need a “breakaway clip” that you can rip out if needed. I have one on mine

So "Always breath; Never hold your breath" is now irrelevant? That's a killer!

The SMB skill is weird... I learned it differently. But I know the SMB is a common issue to argue over ;)

I imgaine it is all equipment specific, not all SMB's have a valve to let you do that and are open bottomed. So skill would vary
