  • Technical diving (sometimes referred to as Tech diving) is a form of scuba diving that exceeds the conventional scope (in terms of depth, bottom time and type of diving) of recreational diving, although the vast majority of technical divers dive for recreation and no other purpose. Technical divers require advanced training, extensive experience, specialized equipment (open circuit or closed circuit rebreather) and often use breathing gases other than air or standard nitrox.
This video demonstrates the basic skills required for safe tec diving.

Thanks, Pattaya! I'm a relatively new tech diver continuously scouring RUclips for videos that will remind me of and recreate the skills at home when I cannot practice in-water. This is by far one of the best skills videos out there. Shows us precise skills (except the dragging flashlight hose), very well-edited, and unlike some, I thought the music was much better than most.

Being a recreational diver I still find some of the skills to be useful such as the kicks being able to frog kick means you can get closer to the bottom (but first get good trim/buoyancy) and not stir up the silt I also noticed the back kick is really useful for reefs you can't touch and you got a bit to close also it help with talking videos iv also used the flutter kick from time to time when a fellow diver is a bit to close behind me and I don't want to fin him in the face the helicopter kick is useful because it doesn't stir up silt and it just looks better than using your hands. Also notice how in all these drills they stay perfectly calm so don't panic if there ever is a emergency. Do keep in mind this is my opinion on the vid from a recreational pov and I have 0 tech diving experience I just wanted to show that you can learn from tech divers and apply it in recreational terms

some nice videos here guys... well done. :)
Would be nice if you had someone talking about your skills rather than the funky music :)

Good stuff, but you are dragging your primary light cable across the coral in your Frog Kicking...... your Tech instructor would be shaking their index finger at you.... lol...... good video, thanks

Nice video, but you should, by all means, stow the cannister hose when not using the light as it's an entanglement point. Its clearly visible in a lot of parts of the video, you even break coral in the frog kick video :(

Why are you not signaling to your buddy with your light to simulate the real thing?? Why do you not maintain an "eyes up" position with your head to maintain situational awareness. This is lame!!!!
