I hear the lake trout season is awesome up there. Would love to try it out one day for sure. I have yet to catch a lake trout. Whats a good rig to throw out there for them?
@JayPeaOutdoors I like to throw 2 set lines and have 1 cast and retrieve setup. For my set lines I use a heavy duty perch rig or I put it right on bottom with a Carolina Rig. For cast and retrieve I like to use Arctic Spinners or Little Cleo's. White is the go to color but they eat everything! Mid December is the best time.
Dude, you're in my spot! I caught a 22 3/4 smallie there. That was like 25 years ago now. As others people said, go in November and December. Tube jigs are king there imo.
That was def a bowfin. You could see the scales, burbs don't have scales, they're a lot darker, mottled green and brown on their back, and they have whiskers like catfish.
So the hook up you did in the beginning of the video you learned from the man you end up seeing a year later on the pier.. thats so awesome!!!!
Pretty cool for sure!
Erie??

Love how much your boy enjoys releasing them as much as catching them. He always wants to be the one to release lol
Lol yeah he does!
My favorite fishing hole!!! You should come up for lake trout season. Its a blast!!!
Did you see his trout fishing video…24hours eating MRE’s only…to funny

Go to that same area in November and catch some burbot and lake trout
I hear the burbot there is awesome in November. Seen some awesome pictures but have yet to experience it. Hopefully one day! 🤞
Bowfin or burbot? Burbot are delicious to eat!

They were definitely bow fin, sure wish they were burbot tho i would have probably kept them lol.
Ausable river mouth is a good spot too
Tube jig is the ticket
First time using a tube jig this year had someone suggest it on my channel and it’s becoming one of my favorite things to throw.
This pier doesn't look familiar to me. Is it in southern Michigan?
Its the Caseville pier, “tip of the thumb”
@@JayPeaOutdoors I grew up in Caseville a lot of people mistake, dog fish burbot
Those gobies are good at stealing bait 🤦🏼♂️ better off just using them as bait! They are horrible in the st clair river
Those dogfish are not good to eat at all
