The Alto C is the middle register and the most popular model because of it's pleasant sound and the soprano C is one octave higher.

@sonichaven From the website: The difference between the A style and the B style: While the two styles of 12 hole alto C ocarinas are very similar, there are a few differences. The A's shape is shorter and rounder. It plays more "open". The B's shape is longer and sharper. It plays "tight" The difference is subtle, and either choice is excellent.
@linzemol I know, but the themes from Ocarina of time are some of my fondest memories as a child. I now own one of these (12-hole, Alto C, with a Strawfire finish) and it's great.

Have a similar looking one, but my high notes does not sound as clear as yours. Not sure if it's ocarina's lower quality or because I'm just a beginner.

Is it difficult to keep the upper and lower notes in tone with each other? That is, are the lower tones flat when compared to the upper register? I play many woodwind, and play them well. But I bought a poly carbon item a year ago that simply cannot stay true to the tone from the lower to the upper octave.
Quick question for Songbird Ocarina people. I know there is another Alto C "sweet potato" ocarina that is black and made in style of black pottery. Is that just for look and added value, or does it actually sound differently?

@Damien9607 if you are a beginner I recommend you start with a Soprano c so you can get used to the pitch. Or since you enjoy Alto better buy a plastic Alto C. Any of these will be long lasting companions. ( 12 hole )

I'm considering purchasing an Ocarina. I enjoy the sound of an Alto more than the Soprano. Any recommendations on what a person with no musical background(minus years and years of choir) should get?
How about those Ocarinas that you can wear as a necklace? Are they much good?
Do you still have solid white ocarinas? ive looked all over and cant find them anymore. There are only cracked white designs and i prefer a solid color. I still want it in alto or tenor C though and as a 12 hole. Thank you.

So I have this version of an Ocarina but in baby blue, however, when I play it, it does not sound like yours. The way your voice vibrates witch each note giving a beautiful sound. Mine just sounds flat. Is there something I am doing wrong when playing?
It takes a lot of practice, you need to adjust your breath pressure for each individual note for it to sound perfect, as well as learn how to vibrate your diaphragm for the vibrato he puts in.

This is as close as you will get to a tenor range. STL sells ocarinas called tenors, but they are in the alto range...
