I’m sure this is a wonderful performance. Ironically, Rubinstein himself (to my knowledge) ever played this work. He probably had met Prokofiev at least once. Maybe not. (Rubinstein spoke Russian). But he did not particularly care for this Russian composer’s music. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)
@@rodolfobonucci9756 Yes, I totally agree with you after listening to all his performance at the 2017 Rubinstein Competition. His Kapustin was a phenomenal.
Well played ordered chaos. Not much more can be said of this. It is a waste of time and enegy to play something that is nothing more than refined junk.
This is one of the most difficult pieces in all of the piano repertoire. The fact that he made it through with no major mistakes is a miracle in itself. Even the great Glenn Gould struggled with it and fudged the ending badly. It's here on youtube if you want to see a really poor interpretation of this piece.
Nothing mre can be said about this as far as it is an aspect of complete chaos. It particularly sounds like a child playing notes randomly on the piano in an admitted rhythmic style. But since there is a complete abence of anything acoustical in music it is an embarrasing smear. Only the ending has any merit whatsoever.
Are you talking about the piece or his playing? The piece is nicknamed 'Tank Attack'. Perhaps do a bit of research on it and you'll know why it sounds like 'complete chaos'.
Omg, he is the Winner of 18th Chopin competition !!!!!! Bravissimo!!!!!
Xiaoyu Liu is blessed with great artistry and taste - and we are blessed that he will thrill classical music lovers in the years to come!
He is doing it veeery well
@@manoelbragheroli won the Chopin 18th competition in 2021!🙌🙌🙏✝️
Tks, I know and watched all his stages
Communicative, evocative, you name it - he's got it❤
It's a great Prokofiev! His control, style, taste are incredible.
Very musical and nuanced performance. This pianist understands how to create a soundscape. One of the best performances of this sonata ive ever heard.
0:28 1st movement
9:08 2nd movement
15:57 3rd movement
I love this performance.
Idk why RUclips put an ad during the playing. It literally made my heart shocked. They need to change this
It’s almost sacrilegious to do this for classical music performances! Shame on RUclips!😢
Holy shit why are there so many disparaging comments here. It's a beautiful piece and an amazing pianist.
Wonderful playing.
Magnifico, um virtuose naturalmente, parabens, obrigado por postar.
Wygrał konkurs chopinowski w Warszawie .bez wątpienia Mistrz klawiatury. Virtuose.

Wonderful performance, completely ruined by two ads stuck in the middle of the music.

Maybe for you. It is a masterpiece for me and many others. Listen wider if possible.
Average execution. Nothing outstanding.
Then you know nothing about the piano…
Amazing touch, he brings new colors to that sonata and he plays with a great virtuosity 🌞💯🎵🎶💥

This has to be the most ignorant comment I've seen on a classical video on youtube
