"I'll say one thing I love Taylor Swift till the day I die and I'll put on an armour and follow her into battle" "I'll jump off a cliff into a pit of spikes for that woman" - Stephen being a Swiftie for 2 mins straight
This is true. Unfortunately the opposite is also true. I met Harry Anderson, after being a fan for like 25 years, and he was a total ass. I don't know if he had a bad day, or if my deodorant failed, but I was buying $300 worth of magic tricks from him at a private event - and he was a dick. And I remembered that for years... 😎
I met and had a wonderful conversation with Candice Bergen while waiting in line for an exhibit at the Met in 1982. I’ll never forget how lovely she was, even suggested things not to miss while I was visiting NYC. And yes, she stood in line like everyone else!
@@leapintothewild Ironically there is a Canadian politician named (you guessed it) Candice Bergen. I wonder if the actress CB knows about the politician CB. Speaking of gracious American artists, I know of two. April Gornik and Eric Fishl. Ever heard of them? From California and Ohio and they met here at NSCAD. Two of the most important American artists of their generation and they met here where I live. Steve Martin is a friend of theirs. Yes, THAT Steve Martin!
This is GREAT!!! This should be a regular feature of the show!!! We can't all attend, and this made me feel more a part of the show's experience!! PLEASE keep doing "During the Commercial Break"!! This is great fun!!
Absolutely!!! These segments show just how natural Colbert is as a raconteur. He's right up there with Peter Ustinov and Billy Connolly. No script. It's just him being himself. What a talent.
Like her music or not...T Swift is a role model/person I can get behind. What a cool story. In fact I've heard a lot of stories like this about her. What a memory she gave Stephen's daughter...priceless.
Agreed. I'm not a fan of "pop" music, but I have friends who are all about Taylor Swift and she always seems like she genuinely cares about her fans. Good to see that even following her success she's still down-to-earth.
I can see it, Stephen only wants the absolute best for his kids, so when Taylor Swift elevated his daughter to the next 3 plains of existence, he became thee Greatest Dad Ever. And for Taylor Swift to be that gracious and complimentary to a young fan, means she knows who put her in the Bank.
@@dannynysus let's hear it for plain janes and plain beer, but sadly, l'll have to say no to plain cheeseburgers on donut buns, ugh, too much grease, cholesteral and sugar for my system!

Taylor Swift is a national treasure and so is Stephen Colbert. The fact that he still treasures how sweet Taylor was to his daughter is so endearing! What a lovely memory!
I so felt for his daughter, but looking at pictures of her now, she looks as smart as him! All in the eye! Good for her. Outtakes and bullshit talk is what we love!!

I really admire famous people who have the ethic to be careful and kind with the power they hold. It must be exhausting to have to perform all the time in social occasions. Both Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber seem to be very conscientious about that.
Unlike what we are seeing now play out in court in Fairfax, VA. Deep and Heard, two people with issues. Big time. SAD! All that wealth and fame and they don't seem to get not drinking or doing drugs of being assholes. Lily-Rose Depp and Jack Depp are the ones I'm concerned about. I hope the issues of their Dad do not affect them.
I am a huge Colbert fan, I watch regularly. It's these outtakes that you don't usually see that convince me that he's just a fantastic human. I just want to hang out with him ya know?

Omg, now THAT was interesting! Thanks for sharing some personal stories, Stephen, *while* lifting up those you speak about. Such a great example, and makes us all better for it. 🙏 Thanks! ❤
People say Taylor just puts on the nice girl act to look good on camera, but this is more proof that she is just like that. Most celebrities who have met or worked with her say how humble and kind and down to earth she is. I think you have to be a certain type of person to not get along with her
I'm not a fan of pop music but I do work in the "industry" and have heard nothing but the best and most lovely things about Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. They remember that once they were like all of us.... at 5 years old LOL. But to be honest very sweet and humble celebs. Thank you !
This just moved me to tears. Taylor is really a queen and nice even in real life. To hell with her haters. Haha I will also follow her to the end of the world.
I just love how you love your kids. Making a young girls dream come true is a sure fire way to cement a lasting memory. Thank you for sharing it with us. Says alot about you & your trust in us, your loyal, "go down with the ship" kind of fans.
Whether you like Taylor or not, one thing you should know is that she is honest, humble, sincere, but most of all real. I cannot come up with one other celebrity besides Justin and Selena who treats their fans so well as Taylor does.

It's amazing that Stephen Colbert could be star-struck. I watched him show one of the "Sting" blades in front of the "Critical Role" cast and they were star struck. It's neat seeing him getting his deserved accolades.
