I really didn’t get Paddy all those years ago and almost feel shame I didn’t respect his Open achievements. Now I’m becoming a fan of ... everything he does and says.. be it RUclips, Seniors, PGA and DP tours.

Paddy is a hyper talented thinking and athletic golfer. He never had that it factor, mostly because he didn’t care about marketing himself. Now he is turning into golfing Gandalf!
Really enjoyed this, I can relate to Jay wanting his swing to look nice etc, my pro wants me to be far more aggressive with my swing. Can listen to Padraig all day. Have subscribed.

I think what's interesting about futbol is that no one truly has an understanding of the skill of the players unless they have actually played the game for an extended period of time competitively. See, we can watch a game and quickly spot the best player on the pitch. This is why there is no debate amongst professionals of who the GOAT is.

Padraig is a top bloke. Great player and gentleman. By the way Haaland will never be as good as Messi.
Padraig played 45 holes a day.
Padraig is right in saying golf isn’t expensive to play casually but for kids you show promise and play regional and national level golf it becomes very expensive.

Entry fees
Travel
Food fuel
Hotels
An average 3-4 day event for a top junior costs £300-500 an event and these kids are playing 6-15/17 events a year and can easily be £7,000 - 15,000 a year
I.E
Entry fee £50
Practice round £10-£50
Hotel for 4 days parent/child £300-500
Fuel £x amount
Food eating in the club or out for 4 days breakfast, lunch, dinner
And these kids get no support parents pay for this plus taking holidays from work
Jeezez Padraig... cheap golf in Ireland... best part of 300 euro for Lahinch, Ballybunion etc
He's right, my club is approx 30 min from Dublin and my membership is €150pa then €15 each time I want to play. You're listing the top end courses there. The average course charge nothing like that. Prices have gone up slightly this year across the board but compared to other countries he's dead right.
Good interview: interesting guy Padraig and good insights on sport psychology. But his “ I can’t control the media - I’m not Trump” comment is so outlandishly off the mark, you wonder what political world he lives in. Does he seriously believe Trump gets good press??
