If a zoo animal tries to escape several times, he should not be kept in zoos anymore. He should be released in the wild after some rehabilitation time.

When I was younger, my family and I were at a local petting zoo. They had animals like cows, pigs, donkeys, horses, and goats, etc. This particular day, one of they bigger goats got out of its cage while kids were getting in. It knocked the kids over and was running around this small zoo. My dad was able to grab it, since it was wearing a collar.
Used to work at a zoo, I've remember 3 different escaped. #1. One of our alligators had gone missing from the exhibit and was found down in the rhino pool. #2. We had an Egret somehow escape the entire zoo and took several days to capture it from a nearby woodsy neighborhood. #3. One of our wallabies had escaped their free roaming area, chased down the hill and unfortunately out the front gate. Was apprehended shortly after (#4 would have happened when I was way young so I dont recall if it ever made news. But we apparently had an otter escape after their new exhibit was finish, and it was never found)

I get wanting to keep them safe until their numbers rise high enough to where they're in the 50k+ (Which I think is still small) so they're not in danger of extinction, but making them suffer for human entertainment should be considered a crime. I have a good idea. For circus owners with mistreated animals in their circus, they should be imprisoned for however long they've had the animals imprisoned. If it's less than 6 months, give them 6 months of jail time anyways. Let the animals go. Please.
Yep. Try putting a human in a cage, feeding it once a day, and showing it off to obnoxious animals and see if it's happy. "Oh but animals don't have emotions!" If you think that animals are incapable of feeling emotions... I'm disappointed.

My parents own a zoo called The Australian Reptile Park, in 2011 we had major storms and flooding and our alligator enclosure water rose above the fence and over 20 got loose and took us 3 days of closure to recapture them all.

i went to the zoo about 2 weeks ago on holiday the tiger got very close to us walking back and forward but the lions freaked me out they were huge! humans are not the only one who can escape!

there are quite a few safari places around where i live where you can also see them up close. While I do feel more safe at the zoo, the safari tour guides and drivers have weapons to subdue the animals if need be. But whether at a zoo or a safari, there is always a chance to be mauled by a wild animal... Even being at your home out in the yard, there is a chance, depending on where you live!

Now though to me, zoos in general, don't seem right unless they are doing conservation work and are actively helping animals and endangered species. As for animal circuses, they should be banned out-right. Wild animals belong in the wilds; not in the city! :)

It’s significantly harder to find a person that was harmed by somebody compared to a large exotic animal that’s escaped and wandering the streets. There’s absolutely no comparison lol
The same thing happened at Zoo America at Hershey PA. If they had closed the zoo and moved the animals NONE would have died. They knew for 3 days the storm was coming but they stayed open even ON the day of the massive flooding. Many animals drowned. Two bison were trapped in their concrete surrounded enclosure with NO drains. They were treading water for 2 hours when the female became so tired she gave up and drowned. A rush of water came and washed the male out of the enclosure and there was a fence there and zoo workers shot him. It was awful.
I am from Tbilisi, it was a total panic many people died because of the flood, and a lion was found in the meat fabric eating sausages and one unlucky man, he was killed because there was no other chance, dead zebras were found on the streets, and some animals are still not found, they either escaped or are dead, and this is a famous hippo who was eating tree leaves in the city center

I remember some teenager stole two Gabon Vipers from the National Zoo in D.C. made it out of the zoo onto a metro bus and when he arrived to the end of the line threw the plastic bag with the two snakes over his shoulder and was bitten on the shoulder, by one of the snakes. He must of known he was in serious trouble from the pain and returned to the bus and told the bus driver who summoned help. I believe he spent several days in the ICU but recovered after receiving several doses of antivenin serum.
I feel like its because a wolf, at least to me, is harder to recognize compared to the other animals on the list. I would most likely think it was a stray dog. So I feel like others may have thought that as well and therefore they did not get many calls about the wolf. I do know it said they heard people call about a "coyote" which they think was most likely the wolf, but I'm wondering if no one investigated the calls, ya know...

Amazing how the only animal to escape permanently is a wolf
I feel like its because a wolf, at least to me, is harder to recognize compared to the other animals on the list. I would most likely think it was a stray dog. So I feel like others may have thought that as well and therefore they did not get many calls about the wolf. I do know it said they heard people call about a "coyote" which they think was most likely the wolf, but I'm wondering if no one investigated the calls, ya know...

The reason why a bunch of them probably escaped was because they weren’t mentally stimulated enough. So the animals used their time to escape.
