I’m sorry but the way his dad stood by him is unbelievable. Unconditional love. I highly doubt my parents would stick by me like this. If you watch the series his dad never gave up on him. Jeffrey didn’t deserve him.
Lionel really was my favorite part of the series. He was neither full villain nor hero a really complex person. Some of the other characters in the show were really one-dimensional imo.
The dad clearly understood Jeffs plight. He even says in multiple interviews that he feels responsible because he had seen similarities between him and Jeff when he was growing up as a distant and super shy kid with no friends
I'm here after seeing the "box incident" depicted in the new netflix series and that scene was so fucked up and insane I had to check if it actually happened. Very very creepy.
Lionel said had he opened the box, he didn’t know what he would’ve done. He said he probably would’ve guessed it was some sort of doll or mannequin, not an actual human head.
You be ashame of yourself if you were my kid I wouldn't want to see you anymore and I ll tell the rest of the family to do the same I'll get a restraining order on you
You can see the sheer utter disappointment & how disturbed the father is when Jeffrey says a mummified head & genitals were in there he’s like where the f did I go wrong raising him Jesus Christ?
@@revekat2053 where did he admitted that if it's real haha where did he quoted that He likes science cause he's a chemist and a teacher. He doesn't think of killing humans or cannibalism
I think he knew it was something extremely disturbing like maybe animal carcasses or something of that sort…if he knew what it really was I think he would’ve called the cops on his own son
Back in the 1980 people was so insecure about their sexuality Like how that dad could have guessed there’s a human head in that box lol you all crazy My assumption he thought there was a gay pornography especially after the male mannequin incident in his grandma house Most likely the dad thought it was a dildos or some gay pornography Giving his son didn’t have a girlfriend and he was probably around 30 in 1989
He definitely knew that it was something Jeff was not supposed to have, when he says "we'll open it up tomorrow and get rid of it whatever it is". Lionel wasn't a dummy, he knew his son was a weirdo and that if he had something sealed in a box, it was probably illegal, whether or not he suspected it was a head, who knows.
Definitely gave him an out. There's no way his dad somehow didn't think Jeff would just leave the box as-is and open it the next day. Clearly knew something was up but didn't want to truly know what was going on.
The point of spreading the word is tho that people can be more aware and cautious of going with random strangers to their apartments. If they never made this public back then, im positive people would of still recklessly hook up with strangers and ignore the red flags.
Why on God's green earth would a parent see a box and obsessively want their child (who happens to be a grown up) open it? I have two children that are the same age now as he would have been when this occurred. There is no way I would see something like a box and make a big ordeal over it being opened. This incident was a big deal at the time it occurred and included the concerns of the grandmother and her high suspicions over this box. As judge Judy says "If it doesn't make sense it's not true". That Dad is not telling the whole story. Not just about this incident but about the whole story including his own abusive behavior towards both his wife and his children (abuse manifests itself in many different ways). One lie=many lies.
There’s a little more backstory to it, the box was his fathers & he wanted to open because he thought he had equipment in it from his last recollection. & you have to remember his dad was like a chemist which was how Jeff originally got access as a teen to corrosive acid & scalpels so I think it’s fair to assume he either thought Jeff had some of his equipment in it or he did figure it was something macabre like a dead animal
"Why on God green earth?" The dude was a fucking serial killer, His entire family knew he was weird and during the time that his father frantically wanted to know what was in the box there were clear signs that his son was doing something wrong. He was fucking killing people. His father seeing what was in that box could have prevented so many killings!!! If you thought your child was killing people, getting away with it and lying to you everyday about it; then you would want to see what was in the box too lol As you saw in the video he didn't even open the box in real life though, So relax lol
Dammit, between this and Brad Pitt's "WHAT'S IN THE BOOX" from Se7en, I'm never going near any funky/mysterious packages ever in life. As an aside, it really seemed that the father was trying with Jeff, to bond and lead him down a fairly good path.
In Netflix movie, Lionel felt sorry just once and then continued living normally, almost nothing had happened. He acts that way in this interview too In my opinion, Lionel is very bad father both in movie and in reality.
One thing about my mom she ain’t never took a rain check on that ass, EVER! If it was a box that needed to be opened by all means that box would’ve been opened that same night, and within the same 10min it was brought up! And my gmom (super snoopster) would’ve opened it as soon as she found it and would’ve told me something didn’t “feel right in her spirit” about that box
