    That poor pilot in the first crash just broke my heart. And the man trying to get the damned door open is a real hero, but I believe he feels like he let her down. He didn't...I can't even begin to imagine the guilt he must have felt. But he tried his best and that's what counts!

      I think in retrospect he might wish he had told her to jump out the window. Because he knew there was no help coming in time. She was probably unaware he was alone in his efforts. At least if she jumped she had a chance to survive. Pilots have survived jumping great distances from windows of huge jets, even onto tarmac. Traumatized people don't always think logically. She needed to be ordered to jump. But it's too late now. He was likely not able to think logically in the distressing situation either. At least he tried. If I'd been in that plane I'd want the guy to know it was heroic that he had the courage to walk up to a burning plane. For all he knew it could explode at any moment. He has nothing to feel ashamed or guilty about.

      For you, the 12 lives could have been saved even if the door would have not opened because, if they'd listen to the safety instructions, thy would know that there is a exit above the wing. Also they noted that the first officer's body was found near these exits. So that means that he was going (In the last seconds of his life) to the exits to open them, if he had a few more minutes, the 12 lives would have been saved. - all of this is from Air Crash Investigation (Mayday) @@DBEdwards

    The UPS air bubble in the cockpit idea is the kind of forward-thinking and ingenuity we need, but sadly it comes after something so tragic. You don't think about those things... "well what if the cockpit fills with smoke so bad the pilot can't see anything?".

He saw the fire but was unable to get to the area to help because it was across the river.( Cincinnati airport is actually in Kentucky) This was the second crash in 4 years by planes attempting to land on the same runway.

      Asiana will be spun off and absorbed by Korea Airlines, not because of that incident specifically but for a cash-strapped parent company it didnt help.

    The Asiana 214 crash is a case of gross negligence by the pilots, but incredible work & heroism by the Flight Attendants. They performed a remarkable evacuation, under the most stressful of circumstances, despite several of them being injured and several more becoming trapped by evac slides that inflated inverted into the cabin, trapping them & having to be rescued by fellow crew.
    Chief Flight Attendant Lee Yoon-hye carried a number of male passengers to exits, despite her much smaller size, evacuated unaccompanied children & was the last crew member to exit the airplane (after the pilots had long escaped) only when she was totally convinced the cabin was empty.
    When the firefighters came across her, they initally thought she was Asiana ground crew that had come to the scene, she was so calm and collected. A remarkable woman and a true professional indeed.

Bravery doesn't always achieve the best results but that doesn't negate the man's heroism. He risked his life to attempt a rescue that must have been absolutely harrowing.
      I'd like to think I would do the same but everybody's a hero in their own mind. You tried, Mr Walker, and that makes you a champ in my book. Godspeed.

    Those bounces make me wince every time (and my partner look at me when I react to them) The irony is my very first flight had a bouncy landing and it gave me the giggles.
    The Lithium Battery thing was interesting to discover as the ruling on them occurred in the seven years I wasn't working in an electronics job. I noticed the new labels and discovered why they were now a standard when I got back into the industry. Huh, A modern take on the Biblical burning bush story.

    I just found this series.... Marty hooked... One question now and that's probably because I over Analyze everything.... Do you all notice before the pilots even take off on the runway they are sweating profusely lol (no disrespect to anyone injured or anyone who lost their lives) and I love the fly But after watching the series I'm questioning that lol

      Late reply but these in Air Crash are actors flying in a simulator. They surely use make up and it must be hot in these simulator cabins too :)

      Me too!! All are loose ends...i am used to total analysis, quit watching half way through, manufacturer, pilot error, weather, miscommunications, runway problems, poor maps, cargo misloaded, ..any of these things can cause a crash, its why I drive.

    In the first crash, if the captain had tried to escape through the cockpit window, would she have been able to do so? Or was she waiting for everyone to get off the plane first?

    • @andrewprentice11
      @andrewprentice11 2 года назад +3

      Yh the captain and first officer leave last. They will try and get all the passenger off the plane first then they will get off plane. If the captain trapped in the cockpit they can open the window of the plane and use a rope to get down but it’s pretty dangerous and need a lot of concentration

    • @D7STOPIAN
      @D7STOPIAN Год назад

      theres been a few cases where the captain and first officer attempted escaping through the window, but really struggled to break through the glass with the provided fire axe, the would also then need to use a rope to climb down and out of the plane, which is quite difficult. Even if she could have made it, she as a pilot is trained to evacuate the rest of the plane and preform an evacuation checklist before exiting the plane, so I doubt she was thinking about herself, but rather the passengers.
