DS 1 sounds flatter and muddier to me. Like there's a blanket draped over the speakers. MT 2 sounds broader and much clearer. Open and resonant. My DS 1 got stolen years ago and all I could find for replacement was an MT 2. The vid confirms that I made the right choice for my ears!
@@compulsive_curiosity dude same i picked the ds-1 for a few reasons 1 being i was like it has a good distortion from what i heard, 2 its 85$ new and for the price i cant go wrong plus its the most bought pedal ever so it cant be that bad and 2 just the demos ive heard (but with ur guitar your rig in person is a diffrent animal ) i guess i was unimpressed, maybe i over hyped it?, i was expecting to play heavy metal on it like that gain... cause i thought mick mars from motley used it and for his sound it worked so i was good with that... but idk maybe its my amps? it sounds muffled, but paired with a tube screamer its a bit better tbh i will say that with a a overdrive paired with it i can use it and get some tones i want... but by itself i wasnt to thrilled which i mean a pedal is meant to be a stand alone thing ofcourse you can add to make it better... but i will add the amp im using is a vox pathfinder 10 lol im not using a fender deluxe, or a marshall jcm here
The sound from watching your video on RUclips doesn’t even give it justice to how different these pedals are. I’d keep both if I had them both, oh wait a minute I do have them both.

a year later and I found myself making the same decision based on your video. The MT-2 has made me very happy!

Awesome video, I want them all. Have a ds1 and a Behringer metal zone clone but want to upgrade

i prefer both!!!!
The metal zone is is also good for Death metal, but, try put the gain full on the mt2 and then add the overdrive with gain turned down. Brutal tone
I just got the ds-1w and I’m considering the metal zone….
I’m thinking I prefer the DS1
