1- Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has announced that the Goa Cabinet has approved taking back land allotted to Meditab Specialities (Cilpa) at Bhutkhamb-Keri plateau under SEZ.
This land was yet to be taken over by the government after the cancellation of SEZ by giving compensation to the companies. The state government will come up with a Green initiative project there.,” he added
2- The water woes of Bardez taluka in North Goa have ended finally after a five-day long wait, with government successfully opening the jammed gates of Amthane Dam in Bicholim.
According to the authorities, the water from dam was released to the Assonora water treatment plant/The Water Resources Department (WRD) was forced to rope in Indian Navy divers to open the jammed gate.
"I monitored the Amthane dam issue closely. The gate has been repaired, and water from the dam was released this morning. By evening, the water supply shortage in Bardez will be fully resolved," said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had said
Bardez, comprising of major coastal belts, had been reeling under water crisis since last Friday following sudden breach in the main canal of Tillari dam in Kudashe in Maharashtra.
The authorities ensured that the water is supplied to the taluka through tankers to provide some relief.
Meanwhile, the work to repair the canal is going on war-footing with Maharashtra authorities assuring to complete the work within three days.
3- Mandrem Police held a meeting with local shack operators. The police have directed them to shut operations by 11pm and ensure employees are aware of all rules and regulations. The shack operators have assured full support. Mandrem police has also barred the shack operators from placing tables/chairs on the beach that obstructs public movement. The meeting was held with the owners from Arambol, Mandrem, Morjim and Keri, the police has also warned them against taking law in their hands, advised seeking police help in case of any issue.
4- Locals wholeheartedly supported resumption of mining activities at Kale mineral block owned by Fomento. During public meeting locals said that mining will help in employment generation and also economic revival. They also said that Company has done lot of work under CSR which was appreciated by locals.
5- Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has requested teachers not to have picnics at beaches, but take students to science institutions.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating SCIFFI 2025, CM Sawant said “ Goa is leading in coding and robotics. Out of 100 students selected in coding and robotics in India, 22 students are Goans. Goa is also leading the country in waste to wealth,”
6- Mapusa Additional Sessions Court grants conditional bail to accused John Parkinson, UK national, who was arrested by Crime Branch in a raid at Vagator on 5 December 2023 for being in alleged possession of various drugs worth Rs 15 lakh , Court while granting bail observes that accused was not searched before a Gazetted Officer or Magistrate in accordance with Section 50 of the NDPS Act.
