Nicely done! I'm curious, you cut the exhaust because the arms are causing clearance problems? I have a 2 liter petrol and thinking about putting in a SW axle which also has the extra arms.
This is the most important thing to do here! I bought a "restored" rear axle beam in a widely known car parts shop and set it to my car. Now there are clacking noises during drive and I realized that I will have to buy that special replacement kit and do everything by myself. I feel really scammed and I think that the axle beam in that workshop was restored in the same way like in the video. 😥
Are there two different lengths on the four bolts for mounting the rear axle to the frame? The rear bolts seem to have bottomed out since it is possible to rotate the washers on them by hand despite torqing to 120nM.
Hey man, how's it going? I'm from Brazil and I saw that your rear axle has too many arms that seem to be "independent", how do I find and buy this rear axle?
These are THE symptoms of a bad rear axle bearing, unfortunately. Get it checked out at a garage and you will most likely need the job done. Going through the same thing now.

If I had to take a guess it probably took me close to 50 hours😅 but thats because i film everything. So maybe a few full days of work if you just do the upgrade
All this work and you didn't replace the axle bearings? This is the most problematic thing in this axle (and the only thing that is easier to do when the axle is not mounted)..
Iknow probably should have done that. I couldnt get out the bolts out cause they stripped. I figured since it was an axle out of an RC it wouldnt have done much km so it would be fine. And honestly if I would have to do it in the future I dont think taking out the axle would be so much work now
The biggest problem is that when there is some play in the axle, it's too late and you need to replace the pins also. And replacing them is not possible at home, the only option is to send the axle to a shop for full rebuild. Hope this one will last you but consider buying the bearings and replacing them when you get the chance.
Thank you for the tips man, appreciate it. I will then probably replace them next winter. I dont drive the car as a daily anymore so it wont get much abuse untill then. One question, I also need to lower the rear, should i combine that with replacing the bearings?
Peugeots are lovely cars to work on. Good job!
Love this project! I'm rebuilding a 206 myself but for track and your channel has been very helpful. Keep it up!
Loved doing this project with you!
So, the most important part (the trailing arm bearing) was left untouched?
Correct should have done that, didn't really think about it at the time. But hey another thing I can make a video about in the future
Nicely done! I'm curious, you cut the exhaust because the arms are causing clearance problems? I have a 2 liter petrol and thinking about putting in a SW axle which also has the extra arms.
I see you use an SW rear axle? Does this also fit on other 206's ? like cc ?
Didnt remove the trailing arms to replace the arm shafts and bearings? Superficial job.
Nope, didn't think I had the skillset to do it at the time. Came from a car with few miles on it so I figured it would be ok.

great job

No they should be the same lenght I think. Maybe the threads are damaged?

Iknow, did not have the knowledge at the moment, otherwise I would have replaced those things haha, so I will replace them in the future.
great work, what is the part that needs to be changed on the 206 when technical control denies.
Goeie 2/3 uur ben je wel zoet
can you please link the break lines that you used thanks
Tell me please, is this 206 rear suspension INDEPENDENT? Because it looks very similar to tupical VW dependent rear axle.
no
No its a torsion bar

Side pipe? En een stuk uit de achterbumper? Wat zijn de plannen?👀👀
Goeie vraag😅 mss zelf diffuser maken met midden uitlaat👀
I have the same car and the left wheel at the back creaks if you shake it, the wheels go a little in different directions 😢

@@SprinterFS in my country they don’t really like these cars, it’s hard to find services. everyone loves german and american cars to repair

You should replace the axle, maybe buy a refurbished one.
@@ToastyTaste532 unfortunately all these beams are quite hard to find in good condition and they often have wear on the levers

What car is that rear axle from?
It's from a Peugeot 206 RC
is it a reliable car?
I would say so, its a very simple car so easy and cheap fixes. The diesel engine on mine is very reliable.

@@DIYTuning Yes it's possible, as you need to take out the torsion bars anyway to lower the axle (and also to replace the bearings).
Great then that will be another video in the future👍
