I just finished your plan. I just love it. I just to cut my wedges and be 70% sure of a decent ring I could make work with some sanding and recuting. Now iam getting a perfect ring every time.. thanks for the info.
I liked you design. built mine today, but at the saw blade side I just did a single pivot. easy to change later should I need. your design allow for wider boards to make the segments from. so for larger flatter bowls..just a thought. thanks for the video

Finally! This is THE ONE! Your system is (almost - explanation follows) perfect. I particularly like the idea of using T-tracks to position/adjust the fences instead of a fixed pivot point that only lets you swing the fences through a fixed arc. With this setup you can easily cut even or uneven sided segments, have the fences as close to each other or as far from each other as you like - anything goes. No restrictions. I'm ordering the necessary hardware today. Thanks. Great job.However, I'll make one change to your design by having a medal fabricating shop mill a couple of runners for the saw's miter slots instead of using wood. A really snug, just not too tight fit should let the sled operate without any play forever. Wood, I fear, may wear down eventually and develop a bit of sloppiness. I've seen some solutions with a slot and a wood screw to achieve a tight fit again, but I can't quite warm up to that idea. P.S. Might be a good idea to edit the audio a bit and point out the utmost importance of getting the sides of the fences absolutely perfectly parallel to each other if you're like me and don't care for pulling the medium behind the forward fence. I prefer pushing the medium, putting it in front of the fence. If the sides on that fence are not perfectly parallel it'll throw off the miter angle. In which case the result of cutting the segments still won't be all satisfactory.
Thanks for the video. Not having a router table does add a bit of a challenge but I think a drill and a cooping saw (probably spelled that wrong) well do the trick
@@jnj3225 it is 3/4 Baltic birch. The screws do poke out of the bottom a little, but I just use a file to knock down the tips on the backside. I have glued them in before. But since they are aluminum, they might come unstuck.

I'm getting some shorter wood screws, and may end up using epoxy. Maybe both. I routed out the 1/4" slots in the fences and that was too narrow for the bolts that came with the knobs so I just widened those slots. I added a small strip on the base at the front end which will double as a handle and as a 90 degree cut to the blade. Thanks for posted your video, I think I just need to put together a stop block for getting the correct edge length on each cut.

Hey artur. The sled come with an adjustable miter gauge. It should fit all babe saws that have at least a 3/4 inch miter slot. But you can always make your own gauge for the bottom of the sled and glue it on.
Great video and after watching, I bought your sled on Etsy. However, after getting it put together, I must be doing something wrong using the sled. I am using a segmented bowl online calculator that I have used before and the wedges fit together well. I am trying to put a 4 layer 12 segment wide mouth bowl and the wedges do not fit together at all. Any thoughts? The 12 pieces are too big. I am putting together the bottom layer using these calculations: segment diameter - 6, wall thickness 2 1/2, segment length 1, segment width 2 3/4. I can send pictures if that would help. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer>

22 and 30 are going to be a little bit harder. But if you glue the ring up in two halves you can sand them flat and make them fit that way. But, if you start with the straightest flattest wood you have, and make sure your blade is dead straight. You should be able to get really really close results!

How can the sled work since the rotation points closest to the blade are not fixed? It doesn't seem to give a consistent reference to the blade.

I wonder how to make wedges, 30, 22,5, 15, because they have to be VERY accurate. Buying is too expensive.
