“Volunteers Are Treated Like Dirt By Management” RNLI Faces Toxicity Claims On 200th Anniversary

- Crewmembers from across Britain have accused the RNLI of harbouring a toxic culture of bullying, according to the Mail Online.
From covering up sexism and assaults to forcing out volunteers, the RNLI is facing a plethora of controversial accusations.
It comes on the day of its 200th anniversary.
TalkTV’s Jeremy Kyle and Nicola Thorp speak to former crewmembers Andy Hibbs and Heidi Bakewell to talk about their experiences of being volunteers at the organisation.
In a statement, the RNLI said: “We dispute claims made by Mail Online and are disappointed they have deliberately tried to diminish our 200th anniversary.
“They have chosen to rehash some mainly historic stories to create a false impression of our charity - one that most of our people just do not recognise.
“The RNLI takes allegations and concerns raised by volunteers and staff very seriously and has processes in place to ensure these are heard and investigated.”

REFUSING OUTRIGHT to help our own fisherman whose boats have broken down at sea because they have illegal migrants to taxi to invade here! They have been losing trained good hearted volunteers for a few years now. What about genuine cases of people in danger, many of whom will drown, as even more are disheartened and leave?
Imo, as with most so called charities, the RNLI is now a money laundering businesses for the bankers, their royal relatives and politician family members etc who are also using the organisation to bring in worst of the worst to destroy our ancient homeland.

I will never give these people a penny again. What a tragedy, the RNLI was a well respected charity, the whole family would trot along to their shop when visiting the seaside, and always buy all sorts of things we didn’t want, just to support them.

It really bugs me when the CEO's of charities like the RNLI get such huge salaries which are taken from the donations given by ordinary folk who just want it to be used to save lives.

There is NO descrimination on who or what the RNLI goes out to assist. What are they to do "Oh, sorry mate we cant help you cuz you're all illegal."? Maybe you would prefer that? Or prerhaps wait until lives are lost and to then fish out dead men, women and children if you can find them or have a fishing vessel finding one trapped in the nets? If that's what you prefer, it may gladden your heart that an estimated 27,000 persons have drowned since 2014, in an attempt to get somewhere where they won't be bombed or starved to death, with an estimated 69, possibly more, drowned in the English channel alone. The RNLI is a completely independant of any government control and will work to save lives at sea. So what if they've been asked to assist, better that than having bodies being washed up ashore, some being children as well.

The RNLI was a great success in saving lives. The crews use to be local volunteers and part of the community ( often saving people in the community). Unfortunately they have lost their way. The head of RNLI is paid too much money. The managers are like in many businesses, they come into an industry they have no knowledge of and try and change it. As for illegals, it is a shame that they don’t return them to France instead of bringing them back here, if they did this more people would support them.

To return them to France would need the permission of the French government which would mean our government would have to make a deal or agreement with them to make that happen unfortunately our government couldnt make a deal at a flee market

The RNLI was in the past staffed largely by voluntary and retired seafarers, their families and members of their local community. Now, the RNLI has been taken over by woke HR management types who have no experience of seafaring or seafaring communities and are obsessed by the luxury beliefs of the metropolitan elite.
The female who is the CEO earns £130 thousand pounds a year and she sacked two volunteers over a rude coffee mug these people must be cleaned out of the RNLI immediately

My family and I have donated to the RNLI for several generations, I'm now in my 70's and absolutely disgusted with their channel taxi service. They should be fined at least £10,000 for each illegal they land on our shores. None of my extended family donate to these people smugglers and have not done so since they started their illegal activities.
Now we hear of how volunteers are treated, absolutely disgraceful. The Lifeboat service should be paid for by the government.

I’ve donated to RNLI since I was a child when I watched them launch their boat in Arbroath, but I don’t support them now due to them becoming a taxi for the people trying to cross the channel, in dingies to the UK.
They should stop helping illigal immigrants, just help out the genuine folk that need help.

The problem with all charities is paid management. How many members of management are parachuted in with no knowledge of the message of the service. These volunteers put their lives in the line every time put to sea. They need respect. It is the volunteers that put to sea and save lives.

I've been a volunteer for a number of years and have only been treated with respect, as have our local lifeboat crews. Feel free to believe the Daily Fail and this bunch from your comfortable land based home. You neglect to mention the crews go out in all weathers and do their work.

Have not donated since hearing of bringing illegals to shore. I have had several approaches to donate and i tell the truth as to why i no longer give to this so called charity. I don't doubt before this, they were fantastic! in rescueing those who were in distress at sea. Possibly, the directors benefit greatly from getting finaces from the government. Shame those who get unpaid voluntarily for the love of it are treated badly.

Living by the sea not far from a lifeboat station I supported them by donation for over 40 years. That stopped about 6 years ago because of all the wokery and the running of a taxi service from Dover

They sacked me as coxswain at Seahouses in Northumberland in 2017 when I provided support to a crewmember who was suffering from PTSD. She had been subjected to bullying and workplace mobbing and her issues had not been correctly identified or addressed.

These "so called" management need to go out in a Force 7-8 so they can see what these volunteers have to cope with on every shout, their ignorance is beyond belief, I stopped supporting them several years ago when I realised what the CEO and senior management were paid annually.

Respect to MOST of the RNLI volunteers and the work they do. On the south coast I am not so sure. The charities are getting so much money these days and the management is more and more not up to the job in my opinion.

It seems to be an issue in all similar charities that it is often forgotten by the paid bureaucrats that the vast majority of their active members are VOLUNTEERS and should not only NOT be taken for granted but treated as a valuable human resource without whom their jobs would not exist... I was a regular contributor to the RNLI, achieving governor status but stopped paying when I read about 2 guys being reprimanded and suspended because a young female manager opened their cupboard and found 2 mugs with risque slogans on, to which she took exception...
RNLI is a racket. Don't donate to them like any other charity.

A Charity: Started by genuine people with hard work and good hearts. It grows. The suits move in on enormous salaries and the rot starts as they bleed off the generously given money screw the charity and then move on.

So true. The trust is full of corrupt people who are only interested in filling their own pockets and setting up their retirements. They don't care about the rivers or canals. All boat owners need to refuse to pay their boat licence fees and mooring fees and wipe the trust out and replace the trustees with new, democratically voted in members.
The canals and rivers belong to the public.
I can give an up to date story from our lifeboat station and it will go public shortly and what has happened is probably the worst of all the stations so far!!
