Thank you so much for this! I got this game for my birthday and am eager to play but found myself feeling pretty confused after reading the rule book. This really helped get my head around the overall structure of the game!
This was so so helpful. We played it for the first time last night and the rule book made it a bit confusing for some of the parts. So glad you made this video. I'm excited to play it again with the real rules.
You saved our game night! Instead of playing we just watched your video. I would recommend for anyone who thought they wanted to play this game but really just wanted to watch tv!
By the way, we don't like drafting to resolve fights, so we use a D6 -- pentagram 1 or 6, ankh 2 or 5, eye 3 or 4. Seems more fun and same odds (2 out of 3). 😊
I played last week and it didn't feel like the Big Bad was doing much when revealed. Maybe I read the rules wrong, but we didn't feel any real danger during that fight with the mayor. Also, it doesn't seem like we should picking up the clues as soon as the MotW dropped them, because the game would right away get harder. The only advantage would be to plan for the Big Bad fight, but with only 3 cards in hand, there is not much planning to do. That's all! The game and the theme is really great, but I ended up with some questions and the rulebook didn't help much.
Very good explanation! Thanks for doing this! We've played through several times as a two player games and so far haven't lost a game (though we've usually won on 11 on the Apocalypse track!) Next game, we intend to play two characters each to see how much worse those Event cards make matters. Do you post your videos on Board Game Geek? If not, you ought to! I have another request -- Tiny Epic Kingdoms. Do you have that one? :)
Thanks! It was my pleasure. I try to accomadate my subscribers when I can. I do post my videos to BGG when I remember to. These videos are just something I do in my spare time so I sometimes forget to post them everywhere. Good luck on the 4 character game!
@Get Ready for Game Night! the rule book on page 14 says no more monsters of the week are drawn after the 3rd one is defeated. I think you are getting activation and movement mixed up.
@@GetReadyforGameNight the Big Bad will never be on the board with a monster of the week because it takes defeating the 3rd monster of the week for the big bad to be revealed.
Unfortunately, you cannot "pass" and you MUST use all of your action tokens prior to monster activation. Page 10 of the rule book, under "round summary" says... "play proceeds clockwise until ALL Action Tokens have been flipped facedown". And it's not the case that there are "action tokens" and "special action tokens", the rule book also makes it clear that there are two types of action tokens, Basic and Special. That is a GREAT question Daniel! Presumably you may want to NOT flip the special action token to avoid facing an event card? That could be a great strategy! Thanks for watching! and good luck with the game!
That is determined by the Event cards that you draw at the start of the game (1 card per player). The event cards will specify placements for Townies and Baddies. I cover this starting at the 4:35 mark. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate the concern. I’m fine. Just very busy. I make these videos as a hobby and I’ve been doing a lot of traveling for my work. So there has not been much opportunity to shoot, edit and post videos.
Hi there, I have another request for you. This one is a doozy. I have bought and am really falling in love with The Ravens of Thri Sahashri. That has some very fiddly, complex rules. Would you be willing to do a how to play for this game? It's a two player cooperative game with a manga theme, by Osprey Games. It's going very cheap at the moment, I got mine for under £7.
Rowan, if I’m able to do it, it won’t be for some time. Between the holidays, my day job workload increasing, my list of other video requests and my other hobbies/side projects, it could be a few months. I’ll do my best, but if a few videos of mine get posted and none of them are for The Ravens of Thri Sahashri (which I’ll need to locate a copy of), maybe send me another message as I’ll likely forget😜

Glad I could help. Happy Birthday! And thanks for watching!

Very happy to help in some small way! I hope you enjoy the game!
This was so helpful! I was trying to make sense of the rules last night and got overwhelmed. This made it playable. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the kind words! I hope you enjoy the game, and thanks for watching!

Frederic Barbe I hope the video helps, and I hope you enjoy the game!
This is a great game but I actually enjoy the original board game which I believe is from 2002.
Thank you so much! This was really helpful^^

So there will always be a monster of the week on the board even if you defeated 3 of them already?
That is correct.

@@magrot123 I stand corrected. This isn't a game I've ever owned or played. It was a subscriber request. My apologies
Great video!!! 💖
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
Do a video playing the Apollo NASA Moon Missions game
I'm sort of retired at this point. My "real job" has gotten too busy for me to continue to make videos. Thanks for watching though!
So you HAVE to use your special token to do a special or basic action every round? I cant just pass?

How many townies and baddies do I place on the board when starting the game?

I hope.u r ok cuz long time no video keep.the good work

I have the game and now I know how to play.......I don't have any one to play with
I haven’t been able to play games in person in awhile either. Stay strong!
