I love your teaching style. You explain what you're going to do, do it, and repeat so the viewer gets it. My only request? Can you title your videos so that RUclips search will find it? You put it in the first sentence of the description box, but if you hadn't of come on right after the video on nesting by Kim Stotsenberg, I'd of not seen this. I really could have used this info on a previous quilt last summer where I was trying to not quilt on embroidered blocks. What a struggle! Question: When the pattern stops at the border of a cropped portion, does it tie off and you have to let it start again and pull up the bobbin thread? Or if it ties off, do you just let it go to the next start point without cutting the thread and clean all that up later? Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to make this video. :)
Thanks. I'll have to figure out how RUclips works for searching. To answer your question on whether or not I tie off or let the machine tie off, I tie off if it's contrasting thread and then I bury the thread. I let the machine tie off if it's matching thread and won't show. You can change your jump stitch in parameters to zero if you want to tie off yourself.
@@jenquilts8038 Ah, change the tie-off parameter. Smart! The last thing I want to do is tie off honeycombs in a bumble bee quilt (much like you with the spider webs). I'm a RUclipsr myself so I recommend changing the title of your video to something like "Creating Crop Boxes on the Quilt Butler". That way, whenever someone searches Quilt Butler, your video is more likely to show up...and the title tells them what it is about. I bet you get a ton of views with that. Thanks for your quick response!
As you recommended, I watched this video several times, wrote everything down, and then gave it a try. No problems blocking out my sections, however it won't crop both boxes, only one. I go to the box I want, then to crop and it won't respond. I went back to each box to minus the pattern and that doesn't work either. The only one that responds is #2 which is my pattern that I don't want to delete. Your videos always work so I'm not sure why this one won't. Just can't seem to get it to crop both boxes.
Maybe it will help to tell you I float my quilt top and batting. So when I com to the last row there almost always is just a small space to try and quilt my last row plus it's lose because I float the top although I do baste it down. Can you tell me the pros and cons of rolling the top of a quilt vrs float??
I am new to the Quiltez software and I have found after searching 100s of videos that I can easily follow yours. Please continue to post videos on e2e and cropping. Also do you have any pointers on how to load your top where it ends up really smooth and what to do when you come to the end of your quilt and the last 6-7 inches are flutter? My name is Dee this is my husband and i email. Looking forward to hearing from you. Dee
Hi Thanks for watching. When you load a quilt you need to make sure your backing is square and the leaders and bar are also straight. On the second part of your question are you saying that the bottom is wavy? If so, I always use clamps on the side and make sure that I keep the quilted part the same width before and after its been quilted. If you are using a thick batting that is almost impossible because it causes quilt to shrink because of the thickness. You can get a longarm centering tape that you can hook to the sides of your machine and it helps you see if anything is shifting.
Is there a way to eliminate jump stitcesy after defining the applique block? Mine leaves long lengths of stitching in the empty box. I can see where it's going to happen I just can't erase them. Help please
Thank you for the video! I do have a question. It appeared to me that your pattern boxes you created were larger than the quilt block area you wished to custom quilt? I hope that question makes sense.
Thank you so so much! Great video, I have learned so much.
Thanks Jen

Is there a way when cropping the bottom edge is done with a straight stitch instead of jumps?

If it's actually stitching in your applique box then you might need a software upgrade. Do you have a Dealer you can call for help with that?

I also custom quilted the small border around some of the blocks. Thanks for watching.
When you cropped, what did you do about the starts and stops or did the pattern automatically take care of it?
