The keepers at Dublin zoo truly care for the animals! Elephants are very sensitive creatures, and have real emotional needs that include being with their own kind in a big, safe place with lots of intellectual enrichment. On top of being sensitive, elephants are also intelligent so keeping their minds stimulated is important! I love elephants!
Elephants do NOT belong in a zoo. They need to be on a reserve where they can function as a true herd walking great distances every day. Mature bulls are NOT part of a herd, they live off on their own and come in once in a while at a watering hole to see the herd they were born from. Elephant herds ONLY have females and offspring in their herd. Males wander off when they are older teens to find other males to hang with and live on their own. Inserting a mature bull in this confined space with all these females is unnatural and cruel. A bull elephant does NOT have a herd of females like an Elk. A herd of females would never tolerate this in the wild. Did you notice how the females in unison ran away and urinated? That is their fear and disgust at this male being inserted with them in this small area. It is so ignorant and obnoxious that the narrator described this herd as belonging to the bull, nothing could be further from the truth. Clearly he knows nothing about elephants. Narrator was more interested in bull’s erection than that herd of females. This video is so wrong that it is disgusting. SHAME ON DUBLIN ZOO. England had all 13 of the elephants in their nation flown back to Africa to live freely and cared for on a large reserve in national park in Kenya. That is how it should be,
