  • How to improve English pronunciation: In this episode of Word of the Week, I will go over the pronunciation of windy. Depending on the context, there are two ways to pronounce windy. One way is in reference to the wind when describing the weather. Another is a way to describe a long curvy course.
This video will help you learn the distinction between both versions and how to pronounce them. Yes! The pronunciation of English vowels can be a challenge. You will learn what are the sounds in each syllable and how to use windy in a sentence.
Not only is knowing how to pronounce English words correctly empowering, but it also means your listeners understand you first time and they can focus on your messages and not on understanding your words. Accent reduction is not necessary, but clarity of your speech is.

I know I am late to this, but I am unable to find anything on the difference between windy and Wendy. Is Wendy and windy a homophone or is there a distinct difference I can't hear?

Yes there is a difference. :-) In Wendy the first vowel sound is short 'e' as in egg/end/when.
And in windy road it's a long vowel .'eye'
or as in windy day, a short vowel 'i' .
      So 3 different vowels sounds!
      Hope this helps you.
