    The thing is this is true off road. I can't believe how good riders you are - and that is the point: We are not lied to, but many people lie to themselves about their true riding skills.
    Holy crap, I can't imagine what you could do with my 701 - things I can only dream of doing...
    Thanks a million times for doing it in English - subtitles also work well. Great idea showing the bruises and the tips along with the main footage, it just works so well.
    I really hope your channel blows up and that you make three videos a week :D
    Cheers from Denmark!

      Oh Peter… that’s probably the kindest comment I’ve ever read about my content. I’m so grateful for such a positive feedback and I thank you so much for it.
      About making it in English, there’s two opinions. Those who thank me for doing it in English just like you did. And those who say I should keep my native French and stop speaking English because nobody understands what iam saying and my accent is sh**. So… I’m torn between the two haha. But I think it makes it more accessible, no matter how bad my accent or pronunciation is..
      Anyway, I’m thinking of getting on a 890 do get into more hard stuff, and gain 30kg… I haven’t made up my mind yet.. the 701 is a beast but too « light » for my everyday commuter.
      Thank you again for your comment, it’s a blessing to read it.

      @@alexislecarb Please do your video in English for broader reach and those people saying you should speak in French is because they don't know any languages other than their own.
      BTW just bought the 2023 KTM 890 R and i own a 690 & 500...the 890 is a weapon 🔥, you should go for it (i sold my 1290 after not even a year...it's a road bike 😉too top heavy)

      @@mototrailz oh thank you so much!!!! It was a struggle to decide between French as my native langage and English since I don’t speak it fluently, but I thought going for English would make more sense as it would make it more accessible to other riders around the world. And even though I don’t speak a perfect English with the perfect accent, I try my best to be understandable and I’m super grateful to read your comments that makes me feel right about pursuing these videos in English! So, thank you for taking the time to share your opinion!!!

      I too have the fear of dropping my big ADV. My 900 Tiger has loads of protection but I still worry about dropping it. My 701 though, utterly battered, slid down hills, thrown in rivers, smacked with rocks, ridden to the Arctic North of Finland to boulder fields in the Atlas mountains. Maybe think about getting a bike you don't worry about dropping? My 701 has engine bars and Bark Busters. I've dropped it a hundred times or more in 7 years. The worst damage? One set of terminally bent handlebars. And a bit of a broken shoulder for me.

    • @TheIdlesurfer
      @TheIdlesurfer Год назад

      @@peternilsson2270 the 701 is a handful to ride. It isn't a good introduction to off road. Too heavy and too powerful. It really is an off road capable light adventure bike for most riders. Honda CRF is placid and quick to sell on, but proper dirt riding is like crack cocaine. You start, and then you want the next hit. I've got the Husqvarna FE350 which is brilliant fun and a lot easier to ride in dirt than the 701.

    This is some really hard terrain. All the leaves with it being wet and rocks underneath probably made for some seriously slick surfaces for a ton of this riding. Would be a challenge regardless but certainly difficult on a 520 lb 1290 SAR. Props for seeing it through. Somebody else said Chris Birch moves the 1290 SAR so well, but that guy is straight pro and just amazing. He shows the very upper limit of what is possible, but most people don’t ride for a living. You guys went at a hard task and pushed through. Nice work.

    I just finished watching your documentary, and wow, I'm still catching my breath! I had to drop you a note to say how utterly blown away I am by your incredible journey through those seriously challenging trails with those beastly bikes.
    The physical effort you poured into every twist and turn was nothing short of superhero-level. Major respect! But what really stole the show for me was the undeniable friendship that shone through. Your camaraderie and unwavering support for each other turned what could've been a crazy adventure into a heartwarming tale of shared passion and teamwork.
    Your video brilliantly captured the highs and lows of your experience in such a positive light. It wasn't just about conquering trails; it was about embracing the unexpected, pushing boundaries, and creating memories that'll last a lifetime.
    Watching you guys find so much joy in the journey left me with a huge grin on my face. Your enthusiasm was infectious, and it's a powerful reminder of the magic that happens when you combine friendship with the thrill of adventure.
    Thanks for taking us along for the ride and for reminding us all that the road less traveled is where the most unforgettable adventures unfold.

    Man, I give you guys credit for trying. I am especially impressed with all of your attitudes toward the crashes etc. Maybe its just editing but you accepted the damage to your machines in stride. I finally came to the conclusion that it was not worth the damage and the struggle to try and push a 500+lb bike past what it was designed for. I ended up buying a Beta 390 for this stuff, Husky 701 for adv riding. I also own a GS which I would never take off road on anything but minor trails, fire roads etc. I love seeing Chris Birch make it look easy but we only see his successes not his crashes for the most part. I have owned two 1290 ADV-R's and loved them both. I just don't think there will ever be a perfect bike do do it all but I give KTM credit, they are the closest. I am wavering on selling the GS for another 1290, I find my GS boring and sterile....very cool machine but BMW's have never had the fun factor of a KTM unfortunately. Great vid and congrats on finishing!!

    • @alexislecarb
      @alexislecarb  Год назад

      Thank you Chris for your thorough comment! I appreciate that a lot. You have to accept crashes as soon as you put your tires offroad. No matter the bike. And when you accept it, it becomes - not funny - but acceptable hahaha
      But I've switched to the 890 R also for this reason. I feel like riding an enduro now.

Most important with Adv bikes is that they are capable, that means that they are built to manage a sections you may need to get thru. If this type of riding is the typical riding for every ride, it more fun with other bikes. Great achievements in a beautiful landscape and now You know that You will make it, but also the risks if You would try on a solo ride. Definitely a Sub on your channel. Cheers! 💪🍺

    This video proves that upper crash bars are not needed on a 1290!

      I totally agree with that! Never had to install upper crashbars!

    Better to stop by a barbed wire fence than on one!

    I have a 1290 SA . And a 701 which I run on Trekkers. You lads are brave, skilled but also not right in the head. My 1290 would be going nowhere that day one carnage. Maybe this is the part where I criticise your riding and tell you how much better I'd have done. I mean, I'd be lying but I'd make myself feel better. And no-one could prove me wrong. Chapeau, mes braves. And I know that is archaic French.

      Thank you so much buddy for this comment!! Appreciate the positive support and vibe! I’m trading the 1290 for an 890 2023, but man the 1290 is capable!!! What a beast. I’m trading it just because I want to improve riding skills and the lighter the better I guess! Thank you anyway my man!

      @@alexislecarb de rien. I really enjoy your videos. I will be riding in the Pyrenees this late spring/ early summer, French and Spanish sides. You are lucky in France with your VTT routes, and even the hunters occasionally border on friendly. Well, friendly might over state it a bit!

    Normal adventure riders don't have any desire to ride on that terrain. If they did they would ride 450 singles.
