    I spent hours practicing previous exams' questions, would take my exams and fail.
    I did this many times, each time just spending more time studying this way when I realized
    I shouldn’t pray the questions I practice cover all the material but I should rather understand the theoretical material first and practice questions harder than what is found in the exams.

People who actually study 6-8 hrs a day understand that this advice could focus on increasing the time period you alot to your recall sessions and spending more time or topics that carry more marks or tweaking some of the habits centered around your study session. Advices like these in no way shape or form means decreasing your study time. Understanding complex concepts takes time. Do not be taking this advice to meaning study less.

      study when you have energy and aren’t mentally/physically tired, either that’s in the morning or whenever you prefer. i suggest doing it after you take a quick shower bc your body is relaxed and ready to take on a task. but dont do it right before going to bed bc all your mind will think of is sleeping, or if you do plan to study in the night time, do it outside of your bedroom so you arent tempted to just give up and sleep. but if you’re actually tired, stop and do NOT continue. its completely pointless to study when youre tired bc the information will just go straight through your head.
      reward yourself little-by-little while studying, dont leave it all to the end. for example, don’t be like i wont have anything to eat until im done studying. get yourself little snacks for every 30 mins of successful studying.
      make sure your desk space is cozy and clean. this is important!!! use a warm light if you have it, anything to make it feel approachable. if your desk looks like it belongs in the hospital, youre not gonna want to study long.
      thats all, actually, thanks for asking this bc i needed to write these down for myself somewhere (:

      @ninety12 Год назад +4

      @@helili thanks those are all actually very helpful and I already practice most of these. Thank you! The one thing I will be implementing is studying after a shower 🚿 because you are right! And I will look into making a study room. Currently I study in my bedroom since there isn't any other location in my house currently. I would also add to that list 📃 finding a place with no interruptions. Currently this is the one thing that constantly disconnects me. I am interrupted and I get so mad I just don't want to continue studying, so I stop. I need to find a lounge or something. Anyway thanks again for your comment! 👍 😊

    • @helili
      @helili Год назад +5

      @@ninety12 no problem! hey im really glad i could be of any help to you :). and for your case, i have some tips that could possibly help. this is gonna be a long one!
      so i also study in my room during the day time (not the night tho) because i have energy and less likely to roll into bed. but still, i sometimes feel tempted to jump into bed “relax for a little bit because i deserve it”. as you may guess, this usually doesn’t turn out well…i just end up scrolling thru my phone and forgetting ab studying.
      so you have to create some mental/physical barrier to stop the energy of the bed from coming to u. it sounds silly but its nothing crazy. for example, i always have to make my bed first so i’ll feel less tempted to jump onto it since i’d have to mess up all my hard work. then, i like to imagine that im in a studio apartment or college dorm, where the bed and desk are in the same room, but do not signify sleep time just bc the bed is next to you.
      last thing, if you have a lot to study for, i usually break it up into two segments for each day. so in the morning, (or whenever, just make sure theres enough time between so you can rest and come back to review later and not feel mentally exhausted), i first thoroughly study what i need to and aim to understand around 70% of it. i do this first ‘study phase’ in my room where there is no distractions and i can completely focus.
      now, in the evening or night time, go outside into another room such as ur living room (if its not TOO noisy, but a little is fine), and review all of the material and do any extra practice if you need there.
      reviewing the same material in a different environment will help your brain remember it better and help not associate the info with just a certain place. if your house is too noisy, you can always try studying in the library or something. but thats not the point, im saying that you dont need to study ONLY in your room all the time. just understand up to 60-70%, where you get the overall hang of it, then do the rest in your living room/kitchen/ etc. it also makes it less mind numbing and you have people around you!
      anyways, these tips are from an adhd person so they might be a little over the top, but i need these extra precautions because of my terrible attention span and procrastination... so just know that you’re hearing these tips from someone who has it the worst lol, and not everything will work for you but they really have helped me!

      I recommend study techniques like spaced repetition, blurting, flashcards, etc. Instead of passive studying like re-reading once and once again.
      Also time management techniques like pomodoro or batching (group similar type homework together) as well as dividing each assignment into actionable steps and making sure you have a clear idea of the things you want to accomplish (a to-do list) and have priorities in mind.

And make a habit of studying for shorter periods and then gradually increase the time. Consistency is always key for better performance, even if it is for 1-2 hours every day. Good luck.
