Not including Hong Kong at least.With China’s policy they can be admitted to good universities easier.Most of them needn’t to study hard and they can easily be admitted to much better colleges (such as Ji Nan University)than those who study very hard but unfortunately born in Chinese Mainland.

As a Chinese who had been studying in this schedule in my whole middle school life, I can tell you it is TOTALLY USELESS. What we were doing 10 hours a day is to repeatedly doing exercises of the same basic knowledge without any ideas or innovation, the only thing in our mind is to beat other students so we can get into university. We don’t even learn much Calculus in middle school but the exam questions can be extremely hard with the only intention to let you not to pass it easily. Most of Chinese students can’t even get into a university after those torture in middle school thanks to the world’s biggest population and lack of educational sources

Although I was studying in a place near Mongolia and it was far away from Moscow, our governmental schools are basically the same. *And our educational system is a disaster right now.* First off, Our teachers are poor. In both meanings: They get the salary only a bit greater than a cashier does. However, the cashier does not need to check 60+ homeworks, receive messages from parents at 3 am and teach brainless children with IPhones. Moreover, the worst punishment for a student that teacher can do - is to just put an "F" Grade. Soviet Union period teachers were authorized to physically punish students, however, after its collapse, Russian government has restricted this form of punishment, but did not implement any other form, so desperate students feel absolutely no pressure... The schools themselves compete each other for the only single reason - to get more money. Sure enough, this is the reason why basically every school in the planet exists, however, due to the imperfections in our education system the only thing for the school to receive money is to have the lowest amount of "F" Students. So the school directors, hungry for money, almost restrict teachers to put a grade lower than "F", so the school would look better, as if they educate well. Again, during Soviet Union time, teachers would usually stay after school to help weak students, but not now: Who wants to spend their own time for this if they receive a salary of the cashier? Overall, our modern Russian education system is based on Soviet system, but disfigured it by lack of governmental control, lack of financing, lack of supplies and poor wages for teachers. This is why they quit. Somebody, please help us and change our schools. We need it right now...

I often have to study online from other countries to truly learn school lessons in physics and chemistry. Teachers here earn a very low salary as well. Ranging mostly from 200 dollars to 700 dollars per month at max, but it's not enough compared to the struggles they face. Unfortunately, education is no longer the key to success, knowledge is. Let's see this as a challenge instead. Students in today's world have to take a step further to actually be what the world thinks we are.

For example, if you are in Beijing, which is the capital and only have 40000 students competing to the final exam, you can go home at about 4 or 5 o'clock everyday and life in school is quite good. I'm from China. I accepted those kinds of education before. I'm now studying in the UK for master. I found that my British classmates are smarter than me. They are very good at critical thinking, innovation and many other skills. They are good at self-studying, self-management, reading papers, writing essays, doing oral presentation, doing seminar. I can only be good at taking exams...... However, my master exams are not based on lectures, you have to learn something new by yourself and must be critical thinking to pass the exams...... Before I come to the UK, I was always urged to study by my parents and teachers and I always learnt for exams and never cared about other skills. Those skills are very important throughout a man's career.😢Just take my English as the example. In China, I got high score in English exams such gaokao, CET4 and 6. However, when I came to the UK, I found that my oral English is very poor to speak with British people and they have to speak slowly to make me understand.😢 English exams in China don't care about listening and speaking skills very much, and I didn't have time to practice English because I have to learn other subjects to pass exams. I studied in china until I was fifteen and then moved to the uk. Whenever I was able to solve maths problems they couldn’t, they say “oh but that’s not fair, he’s Chinese, he’s smart”, simply overlooking the fact that I studied my ass off back in china to be in the position I’m in rn.

Most of Chinese schools are like this, but just like American public Universities, all of Chinese universities also prioritize to recruit local high school applicants. However the problem is, the population in provinces (states) and the number of top schools are hugely different. On top of that, these universities have different acceptance score line based on the population. For example, they give the province with less population lower acceptance score line so it’s easier for student to get in. So if you are born in a province with large population and few good universities, you would definitely have a miserable school life because the competition is just insane…
Studying like that for one or two years for an important exam is quite presumable. But seeing parents only in Sunday for the whole infancy and adolescence is crazy.

@Nickel i am asian and students here had school from 6:30am to 3pm continuous. And then some went for extra classes and tuitions which lasts till 10/11 pm. Its exhausting and mind draining. At some point, especially during highchool years.. you would feel lost and stressed due to high competitiveness. Atleast thats what has happened to me
Honestly this is a great system. I think it’d be better if students did live at school. If you had a broken household, it didn’t affect your studies or your life as a child.

In my high school (public school), except for break time and lunch time, we still learn from 7am to 5pm, after that we go to teacher house to learn to 9:30pm, and got home to do homework for tomorrow, and 90% of student in my school have the same schedule. We do learn more than 10 hours in Vietnam

Getting up at 6: 30 is heaven! When I was in high school, I had to get up at 5: 15, and the meal time was only 25 minutes, including running to the restaurant (leaders don't like you walking to the restaurant), waiting for meals, eating, and not being allowed to go home. I was forced to live in a particularly bad dormitory, without any electronic products, and I could only go home for half a day a month. I was a machine.
Atleast for me 5:30 to 7:30 studying 8:00 to 8:30 go to school 9:00 to 15:00 school 16:00 come back home Then rest and have lunch 18:00 to 22:00 coaching and tutions 23:00-2:00 study or homework

Unfortunately this level of study is normal college and beyond (as I'm sure most that have been in a research university can contest), most STEM students that sre excellent have the discipline built in them since childhood.

not only smarter, they are more responsible and more reliable . Many Chinese Schools will arrange weekly roster for the students to clean up their classrooms, school play ground, and some other public areas, planting trees couple of times every year, which seldom seen in the Western schools.

School used to be a choice kinda deal, where usually only the privileged had that choice. In the great effort to make it all inclusive over the years it was also made mandatory, not saying that's a bad thing but every year it seems they find more and more ways to make school seem less like a learning experience and more like time served. It was such when I was in school, and not only that but extremely gender biased - the boys could wear tank tops and let their butts sag out their pants yet girls couldn't wear short sleeved T-shirts bc the forearm may cause boys to become distracted from their studies. According to my 12 year old niece,not much has changed.

Most billionaires, millionaires, CEOs, politicians are people smart, they study people and learn how to make money off of people, same as the street person, while the book smart person works for them. We need to travel for about 15 to 30 mins to go home and some might take an hour. After going home we got to do household chores and eat dinner, we need to prepare everything for tomorrow again like studying for exams and quizzes, projects, reportings, paperwork, and many more. When I was in high school, it took me hours for that. I start at 7pm to 1 am.

I've just finished working in a Chinese university for 3 months. I can testify that the students are in university six days a week. Lectures start at 08:00 and end at 22:00. My students worked so hard.

I often have to study online from other countries to truly learn school lessons in physics and chemistry. Teachers here earn a very low salary as well. Ranging mostly from 200 dollars to 700 dollars per month at max, but it's not enough compared to the struggles they face. Unfortunately, education is no longer the key to success, knowledge is. I'm Chinese, it's depend on where you at. For example, if you are in Beijing, which is the capital and only have 40000 students competing to the final exam, you can go home at about 4 or 5 o'clock everyday and life in school is quite good. I'm from China. I accepted those kinds of education before. I'm now studying in the UK for master. I found that my British classmates are smarter than me. They are very good at critical thinking, innovation and many other skills. They are good at self-studying, self-management, reading papers, writing essays, doing oral presentation, doing seminar. I can only be good at taking exams...... However, my master exams are not based on lectures, you have to learn something new by yourself and must be critical thinking to pass the exams......
Before I come to the UK, I was always urged to study by my parents and teachers and I always learnt for exams and never cared about other skills. Those skills are very important throughout a man's career.😢Just take my English as the example. In China, I got high score in English exams such gaokao, CET4 and 6. However, when I came to the UK, I found that my oral English is very poor to speak with British people and they have to speak slowly to make me understand.😢

However the problem is, the population in provinces (states) and the number of top schools are hugely different. On top of that, these universities have different acceptance score line based on the population. For example, they give the province with less population lower acceptance score line so it’s easier for student to get in. So if you are born in a province with large population and few good universities, you would definitely have a miserable school life because the competition is just insane…

Getting up at 6: 30 is heaven! When I was in high school, I had to get up at 5: 15, and the meal time was only 25 minutes, including running to the restaurant (leaders don't like you walking to the restaurant), waiting for meals, eating, and not being allowed to go home. I was forced to live in a particularly bad dormitory, without any electronic products, and I could only go home for half a day a month. I was a machine.
I have been through one of these schools myself.
I passed and it's been 4 years already, but I still have constant nightmares of the final test.

As a Chinese student who had gone through this testing~studying system, I would like to point out that this system has caused me emotional damage😢 I consider myself a survivor of this system, not a beneficiary (Not so sure about my choice of words, feel free to suggest more suitable ones
not only smarter, they are more responsible and more reliable . Many Chinese Schools will arrange weekly roster for the students to clean up their classrooms, school play ground, and some other public areas, planting trees couple of times every year, which seldom seen in the Western schools.

In the great effort to make it all inclusive over the years it was also made mandatory, not saying that's a bad thing but every year it seems they find more and more ways to make school seem less like a learning experience and more like time served. It was such when I was in school, and not only that but extremely gender biased - the boys could wear tank tops and let their butts sag out their pants yet girls couldn't wear short sleeved T-shirts bc the forearm may cause boys to become distracted from their studies.
According to my 12 year old niece,not much has changed.

Depending on what you mean by smart, there is book smart and street mark. Most billionaires, millionaires, CEOs, politicians are people smart, they study people and learn how to make money off of people, same as the street person, while the book smart person works for them. The educational system teaches you to work for someone else, not create your own business.

We need to travel for about 15 to 30 mins to go home and some might take an hour. After going home we got to do household chores and eat dinner, we need to prepare everything for tomorrow again like studying for exams and quizzes, projects, reportings, paperwork, and many more. When I was in high school, it took me hours for that. I start at 7pm to 1 am.

I've just finished working in a Chinese university for 3 months. I can testify that the students are in university six days a week. Lectures start at 08:00 and end at 22:00. My students worked so hard.
