What the flux ? That’s taking back old school bro. You are a brave man doing a soldering instructional video on you tube, much respect! You did a hell of a good job 👍 B
Yea my last solder video I got called out on all kinds of stuff. Metal top bench, no shrink wrap on my Conectors, old soldering iron, to hot, not hot enough, etc. Lol. 💪
Love the REAL videos where things don’t always go exactly as planned, cause I never get things right the 1st time, very good learning curve for newer enthusiasts, I know someone that quit playing with rc stuff because of frustration, your videos may have helped them out too, IRONCLADED OUT BIG B
Two tips for you: 1) buy some finger cots. Silicon ones are best. That way you can hold the wire for longer when it's hot. 2) use a jeweller's pick. Titanium or Tungsten are best. That way you can seat the wire into the solder well to make a proper connection. For high current applications like RC LiPo's, it's important.
One tip! put 2 plugs together one soldering, in that way it will divide the heat on both plugs, and also keep the pins stable if they do get a little bit hot. gives you a little more time to get it done and prevent coldjoint solder, specially on the larger ones.
@@Dr_Jet i just got done with my Rico 31 a few minutes ago, built from scratch with leo 2200kv, 180A hobbywing, and 38mm prop for testing, most likely end up around 42mm prop. Rico 31" hull
@@xillianto I checked out your site. I wish I had CNC capability on my little machines. I'm still using manual feed with micrometers and dial indicators to know where I'm at.......
@@Dr_Jet hehe, the cnc is nice to have for sure. got a delta 38, that one will be fitted with all carbon fiber machined at home for perfect fit. My rico also got machined parts, but only plywood servo mount and battery plate.
I keep trying to post this, but my posts keep disappearing. It might be because I put an eBay link in it. I apologize if this is a duplicate post, but here goes without any links: My morning routine has become make Dr. Jet High-Octane, Rocket-Fuel coffee and watch Big B's newest video. What a great way to start the day. With all your cool toys, I'm surprised you don't have a soldering station. I have an older YiHua 953D that I can not imagine NOT having in my shop. Who knows, maybe a TrakPower TK955 Digital Soldering Station review could be in your future....... 🤔😉
Lol the wheeler is all i know. It gets hot quick and solders ec5 connectors like it's nothing. I've had the iron since I can remember it was my dad's and I think it was his fathers father's. I've still got the box it's literally from the 60's or 70's. I couldn't imagine soldering with a different iron lol. But u know me I like trying new stuff 😏
I love my soldering iron, like yours it's old as dirt too. I still have the box it's from the 60-70's I think. It gets hot quick. It was my father's iron

Yeah, best tip of the day.
That's the Dr. Jet approved method too!

Always learn something from you man. Appreciate your channel
Going to run the only other seaworthy 1:20 Atlas in existence tomorrow. Should be fun; might even have side-by-side videos.....
I can't wait to get the 1:20 back on the water, it's. Been killing me seeing it sitting on the shelf
Yea I may have a video of the 1:20 tomorrow. Possibly it's been raining here this weekend. Starting to clear up this morning
Thanks for this Big B. Soldering is not my strongest suit so this was really useful 👌
