Two very different artists coming together to create something special. Period. I love the first 6 songs, the last 4 I have to listen too again, maybe they will grow on me. If you’re a TRUE fan of both artists , how can you not like this?!
Not sure what you mean by a TRUE fan, I love the stones roses and oasis and a lot of Liam’s solo stuff but this album is garbage. The song writing is terrible, I honestly think a lot of fans are delusional. You’re lying to yourself mate
I knew what I was expecting, some of the best elements of those two previous bands and that’s what we got. Artists like Liam and John and even Noel always attract the music snobs who were never able to accept their music. Having said that the guardian said it was great 😂 as I can recall that’s the first positive review of any Gallagher related records for about 20 yrs It’s a really good record but I’m totally loving you’re not the only one, and love you forever. The squares still don’t realise that Rock n roll is a tribute carried on from before , so what if it sounds a bit henrdrix, beaters, stones, T rex etc is that bad? Did all those great bands and artists from the last 60 yrs not have obvious influences ? A lot of modern bands tried for years to sound like oasis and the roses etc It’s a really good collection of songs for me
People don't give anything a chance now a days. If a person doesn't get instant gratification from something now .they don't like it till some big influencer tells them to like it. 😅
The bands you mention here actually wrote quality songs. This album has no songs of any sort of acceptable quality. Can you actually say the lyrics on this record are acceptable? Liam would never have sang songs which such cringe lyrics in the oasis days. It’s just not good enough
personally i love it because of what it is, you can’t expect morning glory x stone roses but it’s liam gallagher and john squire the fact they’re making music together will always be enough for me and im certainly looking forward to seeing it live
A great balanced and measured review. People can be so quick to dismiss things, they just end up missing out. When new art is presented to the world, it takes time, and revisiting it over time, for us to truly understand what it is and absorb it. But from what I've heard of this album so far (waiting on my physical copy) it's exactly what I'm hoping for. Thanks for sharing mate.
I'm really looking forward to hearing the full album. I'm loving Just Another Rainbow already. I totally agree with giving albums a fair few chances. That's how some of my favourite songs have come to be, not even hits for the most part. Cheers!
I agree it’s a good record. Liam should not set people’s expectations by saying it’s the best thing since Revolver. Let the record speak for its self. Looking forward to the Brooklyn show! Madferit
Just for the sheer sound of Squire’s guitar the album is filthy, he’s ridiculously talented. Liams voice as always is beautifully rough 90’s infectious which just works 100% with Squires godly riffs. The only gripe if I have to have one is that the lyrics are a bit bland and simple at times but I’m not moaning we’ve got two of the biggest coolest legends arguably the best in their field making an album together. I’m fucking having it!!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
It's simple, great albums like Nevermind by Nirvana, 100 Broken Windows by Idlewild, The Verve, Radiator by Super Furry Animals, Definitely Maybe by Oasis and Attack of the Grey Lantern by Mansun all had great melody and hooks that reeled you in. This album offers nothing of the sort, it sounds like a cash grab with only one hit single on it. The Rainbow song is amazing and nothing else on the album comes close to it. In fact, the rest of the songs sound like poor throwaway b - sides. Worst album I've heard in a long time, Even Liam's solo stuff is Oscar material compared to this.
Me I personally love it the trucks I'm a wheel, make it up as you go along n You're not the only one are my favourites can't wait to hear it live , great album
Unapologetic nostalgia. Would like to have seen some more variation; dance/groove track, acoustic etc. Very much a duo album than a band in that bass and drums are not given much room to shine. Still great guitar work and some good vocals.
This is the best review I've seen on this LP. There is a type of music snob who will never accept this but if it was released by an obscure band , they would be wanking over it. There is nothing wrong with the lyrics, it's John's style of writing. As for originality, there is nothing truly original anymore...the bands that are championed as the next big thing are mainly stealing from post punk which is 50 yrs old!
Spot on mate. On first listen, with all the tunes, I wasn’t really into them. But they’ve all been growing on me. A lot. I think this will wind up being a great album. Can’t wait to hear what it’ll sound like live! Especially with a singer who sings in tune 😂😂😂.
Yeah, a great ball of shite.. It's terrible with one good song on it Rainbows and that's it. Every song bar that one is so basic it beggers belief how this record got out. It's like simple chords with John overplaying blues solos in almost every song. There's zero catchy melodies so no hooks going on except for Rainbows.
Absolutely love Liam seen him numerous times not sure of album , his solo stuff better and still too this day Beady eye 👁 so under rated , sole love and star anew absolutely superfluous ✌️💙
love it as it is. only one thing is i think it would be better with a english producer and studio. but it's still got the rawness and good it doesn't have long guitar solos .
I was going to post my review video this afternoon, however, you’ve already said much of what I was going to say 😂 Agree with a lot of your sentiments pal. Liked & subbed… might still put my out after the football. Cheers, Jack
Finally someone willing to be honest. I think lots commenting here and this bloke doing the review would be happy listening to Liam fart into a microphone will John played with a rubber band. Actually, that would probably be better than most of this album
It's fcking shite, the whole album bar one great song the Rainbow song. There's no melody or hooks to reel you in, It's beyond tragic. It's an insult to put this out into the public domain. How the record company listened to this and thought it was a good album. I mean, I've listened to the double album by The Coral namely "Sea of MIrrors and Holy Joes Coral Island Medicine Show" and it's bursting with wonderful melodies and hooks and makes this record sound like shite in a field. There's only one single that should have been released and that's Rainbows.
I guarantee you that Liam has paid sock channels on here in the comment section working overtime putting up positive comments to make it look like this is a great record. I guarantee that when they play live they're only be playing about four or five songs with a few of Liams solo stuff and a couple of Oasis tunes.
Good review, not heard the album yet though. Albums are very nearly a thing of the past now, but I lost count of how many albums I bought over the years that I didn't like at first but became my favourites. They need time to settle. The songs which are my favourites the first few listens almost always aren't my favourites after a year. Looking forward to giving this a shot.
I think you're spot on in terms of a lot of people not having any attention span these days.... Even middle aged fans saying they only gave each track one min before skipping.... Wtf? Pathetic. Anyone expecting a life changing album by two guys in their 50's and 60's is silly. This is a solid effort as an album and grows, glad the pair are enjoying making music together.
I was expecting something totally new before it was released and I think I got that. Two totally different people from two totally different bands. Fans were expecting mid 90s Britpop,Liam solo tunes and Noel Gallagher guitar from Squire. This is a totally new sound. Liam singing deep, down dirty blues. John Squire's red hot guitar and some Zeppelin & country-rock(to me anyway)influences in there. It'll need to be heard live for people to "get it"
To be perfectly honest,I dont care if it's not bad, good, brilliant or utter shite,I love it anyway for the simple reason that its LG and JS😂the best frontman and guitarist of all time imo,so that will do me,long may it continue,LEGENDS
The album bangs. Johnny plays out of his skin and Liam sounds as good as ever. Was anybody really expecting them to write Bohieman Rapsody? If so you need to educate yourself. Great review, and the album gets a solid 7.5/10 from me
If this was released back in the Brit pop everyone would one would be going mad for it. Hope we get more of this in the future maybe something with Ian brown would be nice
I think many people set their expectations way too high. Its a good album, give it a 7.6 (Liams vocals get a 9). I like Liams solo work better, but hope they collaborate again. Also, I think its going to be 10 times better live.
@@SupersonicMan10000 Till tears ran down my face, that's how many times I listened to it. I said to myself." a crime has been committed today against music and I called the cops." Liam and John need to do hard time in the slammer for this.
Well said I like it and people have not given it a chance and even seen it live! If the internet was not around like in the 1990s people would not put it down or write what they do! just keyboard warriors nowadays on everything 😂
The chorus to "Mars" is really great and that's about the best I can say about the album. Sounds lazy and obvious, especially with the bluesy widdles. Live may be where it shines.
0:36 Not sure where this idea has come from that John Squire 'noodles'. He's one of the most deliberate guitarists I know of, and has even said in interviews in the past that he doesn't like to jam. And that he spends a lot of time working out the parts to get them right. But that doesn't seem to be the case on this album, which is why some of us are a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, some of the lead guitar is well put together, but there is also a lot of mindless/pointless noodling going on, and that is a stray from the norm. Some of the solos are shockingly bad.
I think people were expecting a like a huge fools gold wig out with loadsof singing lol. Forever sounds ok but the drumming from a good sesssion player could be better , drums sound like liams album, they should sound tight and funky, bigger
