Right!? How ELSE would he know everything and coach her at the beginning of the case? It was annoying, like, lady, go over the details prior to being sworn in at the courthouse, go over them when you're in the hotel the night before. If you don't know WHY you're suing, then don't sue. Yes, the plaintiff & her boyfriend lied. So didn’t the defendant. I CANT stand her. If she were my landlord, she’d only walk in once before she realizes who is actually the boss & it’s not her. I’m glad the landlord has to pay 1/2 of it back. All that shit she brought was OLD as her & needed to be replaced regardless. I really hate liars but to add ‘taking advantage of others’ to that list, wow. The audacity!

I used to rent from an old lady just like her and I will say that the situation with me was very similar, because in their mind even though you are renting that is still their home. It wasnt said but im gonna guess that the landlady most likely lived in the same house as the tenants and was watching what she did and listening for washing machine noises. I wont get into my story, but I wouldnt recommend renting from the elderly cause they extremely possessive, have too much time on their hands and are cranky af.
Also I didnt understand the carpet thing, because if that tenant lived there x amount of years the carpet would have dirty and wear and tear. 2 other things about the carpet, if the tenant fixed it at least she tried to fix it, but i cant imagine the tenant using a carpet sample to fix it. That to me is something a landlord would do, because as a potential tenant a patch in the carpet would not deter me from wanting to rent the place. If there is 1 thing Ive learned from the people's court is to take pictures before and after leaving.

Years ago the maintenance man at my new apartment would come in my place when he thought I was at work. I took a vacation day and slept in and I woke up when I heard someone in my apartment. I listened as he turned on the TV, made food and was sitting on my couch. I then came out of the bedroom and surprised him.

the fact the lady was willing to doctor the plumber's note and say she ruined 40+ year old plumbing, kinda gives me the idea that she would sew on a small patch of fabric from a sample to try and get new wood flooring. I hate when the judge gets tenants on section 8 because she treats them like crap the entire time and its ridiculous. she should have been disqualified from getting anything back from the deposit.

I love how these section 8 landlords think everything lasts forever. They have 6 year old carpet, 43 year old fixtures, and cobbled together plumbing that's probably been 60% clogged from the time those fixtures were new, a low model 30 year old range... Then they have the balls to pretend their place is new and in good shape.
They rented a dump on someone else's dime and the landlord didn't expect
