Agree 100%, it's all driver in this case. The driver of the cop car is good (albeit he did a really stupid thing at 4:53 - absolutely no need for that as he was able to keep up with the M5 anyway) and the driver of the M5 is, well, kinda rubbish. An M5 should be able to leave a 535d in the dust easily even with an average driver.
Dash cams tend to make things look slower and police are used to chasing people. Its real life not Fast and Furious, and if the police crash they get a new car the next morning. Once they've seen the registration its game over anyway.
"police are used to chasing people" - they really aren't, especially in Sweden. How many car chases (of this serious caliber) do you think Sweden has in a given year? No way the average Swedish cop has even been in a car chase at all. Ever. The police man here was clearly a skilled driver and that has little to do with his occupation. I'm sure they do a basic "how to drive fast safely" course but that doesn't turn you into a good driver. Only frequent practice can do that.

@James Stewart Problem is that he doesn't know that. How is he supposed to be sure he's out of view while going 200 km/h through corners? If he turns into some back road and the cop happened to catch a glimpse of it or even just saw a cloud of dust kicked up he could back himself into a corner, plus the smaller the road the more likely people will be there, so more risk of an accident. He never had a chance to escape the moment it turned out that the cop was a competent driver.
a lot of people here praising the police... SMH... It's one thing slinging a car into bends your not familiar with, another when it's up and down like that. Based on the braking, I'd guess the BMW isn't too familiar with the roads, a lot of faith went into that car at times. Ballsy.
Honestly, i think that the police should have called of the chase, they went through multiple communitys at a very high rate of speed, and could have easily had a fatal outcome if there was a family or a car at the wrong place at the wrong time... just dumb luck noone got hurt or killed.
Also, if you live in rural areas of scandinavia you have driven roads like these since you were a kid on a moped. It becomes second nature to take the corners well and the ups and downs. Alot of finnish rally drivers has aknowledged this aswell to be a contributing factor to why they're so good in rally.
It is correct. Yes, the road are that bad. Narrow and enough hidden curves and wrong tilted curves that you can't out run the police that easy. And yes, some other has checked the distances on Google map and some official maps from the Swedish Transport Ministry. They are correct.

The driver is typical multi criminal guy. That should have crashed and burnt and saved the society some money! The police patrol stood at the roadside along the E16 and did a vehicle check when a BMW M5 passed at very high speed. Behind the wheel, it would turn out, sat a man in his 40s who had previously been convicted of illegal driving. He refused to stay. The BMW passes through Åshammar at speeds over 140 kilometers per hour, partly on the wrong side of the road. Photo: Police Instead, a life-threatening drive began with overtaking on the wrong side, and at high speed in the left lane over obscured crests. The journey ended along a gravel road, where the police with drawn weapons forced the five people into the car on the ground. It all happened on May 30th. June 3, the man was sitting behind the wheel of a car on Nygatan in Gävle when a police patrol spotted him. This time he did not try to drive away from them but allowed himself to be arrested on the spot. In mid-July, according to the indictment, the man came across a set of car keys stolen from a car rental company. He looks for one of the company's cars, an Alfa Romeo, and gets behind the wheel. The frames per second of this video is low, so it makes things like slow even if they are going extremely fast. This was actually also a problem in all Motorsports back in the day. Race cars used to look a lot slower than they actually were if you saw them in real life. So now with the widespread availability of cheap HD tv's that can handle high frames per second, Motorsport event now use faster cameras. Unfortunately in this video, the clip is from a dash cam, and dash cams are not on par with state of the art high frames HD cameras.

F10 M5 requires a more than average driver to pilot especially on roads like this, me personally I woulda banked on the home straights.
Remember its always easier following than leading, I'm talking probly 50% easier! reason being the car in front has judged all your braking distances for you, braking distance is no problem in a 90bhp Corsa where you'll barely reach 90mph, but when your tryna judge your braking distance from 150mph 😅😅 different story yooo

I think both drivers did a "good" job. Sure, the 535d could keep up with the m5, but my guess is that the police doesnt care about trashing the 535d. The m5 driver on the other hand is probably more careful, and its pretty hard to drive fast on a country road, especially if you have never driven it before.
But M5 was lucky any random policecar could just have t-boned or fishtailed him, it was not a scratch on the M5.

No! Just some random police officer with basic knowledge of driving fully supported by law! Subtract the law then the officer becomes a chicken 😆
Police & other officers train quite alot how to control cars on different speed, so most cops know really how to drive.

@James Stewart some opportunities to loose his life too. There are lots of wild animals there and big trucks on the road. And locals that also take shortcuts in curves (like me).
SMH... Police made horrible judgement to get in high speed and high risk chase, only pushing m5 driver more and more, so the chances of crashing were much higher then just stoping the pursuit as soon as they had his licence plate. They risked lives of every one on the road, including their own. Very childish of police
If both drivers were evenly matched there would be absolutely no contest. The m5 would destroy it! However it go's to show with a professional driver behind the wheel it doesn't matter what you drive..... Excellent peace of driving from the police and a shit show from the m5 driver 😅

He drives to Uppsala, where a police patrol takes up the hunt. This time, too, he ends up trying to drive away from the police. At one point, he drives at 150 kilometers per hour on a 40-sign street in central Uppsala, and passes a roundabout in the wrong direction After the arrest in Uppsala, the man is arrested and detained, but released after a week. He is now charged with several cases of gross illegal driving, theft, use of means of subsistence, receiving, drunk driving, gross negligence in traffic and a couple of cases of minor drug offenses.
