When we were building our house, my wife pushed too hard and fell 10+ feet. She hit her head and had a severe concussion. She had to convales for two months. In that time, she turned 41 and got pregnant. We had been married 14 years and had given up on having kids. Be careful of construction accidents. Good Luck, Rick

A 'memorial tree' in honor of your Mom is a very good idea. It will surely bring 'some' peace in the years to come James. In keeping with your idea of the adopt a tree/plant concept, you may want consider making 'your Mom's' tree the focal point of a memorial garden for those that may still be 'transient'. Btw son...I lost my Mom in 1981 and I STILL miss her. I grew up helping her 'sqr ft' garden decades before Bartholomew wrote his book so I dedicate every year's garden to her. I pray daily for your healing and God's Blessings. Best of success.....~Eli.

It was a nice change seeing Jess do some narration, very well done! Please try not to work alone any more as you get higher and keeping those nails in that pocket could puncture your leg if you fall down. I spent many years on construction sights I seen it all. I'm watching you two. Awesome job so far very exciting!

Jess, you did great, not only making up the bags while Jim was gone but, it was great hearing you narrate a bit by yourself. We heard your voice loud and clear, you were definitely in charge. Can’t wait till you are all finished with your build. Jim, I really feel for you going through your 1st Mother’s Day without your mom. I know how painful it is. You will never forget about the pain but it will get easier to deal with. Just know that you were always there for your mom and that you loved her dearly. I’m praying for you buddy.

Put rocks around the base of the tree but not touching. That way the dew will settle on the rocks, rundown and water the tree

Love you're idea of the memorial tree until the roots get established they will need a little extra water .
Glad you stayed safe out there, we all do stuff when we need to that maybe we should have waited for someone else to be present.
If the trees you buy are not grafted you can try propagating one or two in the future to get the most value with each purchase...you might want to wait until after your home is built so you have better climate control for starting new trees though. The adopt a tree program sounds great.

I started watching y'all when you was putting down the ground level wood beams and for the longest time it didn't seem like the dome was ever going to take shape. But it is and it's really starting to show. Can't wait to see the finished product. Y'all are doing an awesome job.

I recommend looking into growing pomegranates. They are a desert tree that offer huge medicinal benefits. Currently growing some iranian varieties as well as the commercial "wonderful." Read a report that listed the Iranian varieties(think black pom instead of red) as having twice as many antioxidants as the "wonderful" varieties. Best thing about poms are that they are quite drought tolerant. We found that as far as nuts, the macadamia nuts does well in the southwest desert. Its does need water but the size of the harvest keeps two people busy removing the outer husk months after harvest. Can store the nut for quite awhile. Love your videos.

You’re calling your Memorial tree a Chase Tree. Here in Texas we call them Vitex Trees
Latin name is Vitex agnus-castus. Common name is Chaste tree.

Have you considered a mezzanine inside the dome? It could be useful during construction as a working platform, now the build is getting high from the ground. Or some sort of scaffold, perhaps?Also, have you consider filling the bags on the ground and then use a winch or hoist to lift and maneuver full bags to place?

Mulberry Trees grow everywhere in Indiana as regular junk trees, but I understand Mulberries are good to eat!!
Have you ever thought of making a green house with the geodesic dome. A little plastic draped over. Nothing fancy, but workable.

Dig a big hole when planting trees and put a lot of manure. Tree needs a good start. Soft soil to grow roots faster and naturally manure to boost the growth. good luck
I don't know if you have them there but here us Brits 🇬🇧have a similar tree called a Budleaha? tree also known as the Butterfly 🦋 tree because it attracts them every summer. The one you have chosen looks like a great memorial tree for your Mother with all the blooms, Jim. From County Durham North East England.
Yes, we have buddleja here in the US. They are usually just shrubs, though - not trees..

Will you need to rent scaffolding once you get higher because it will be very difficult to do the cobbing on the outside walls as the earth bag home goes higher up
