Dave is so good at giving the husbands advice trying to get their wives on board with getting out of debt. He knows exactly what to say. Go, Dave!
That first sentence hurt my brain.
Much better than the advice he (and Dr. John) give to wives to get their husbands on board. "I'm so scared about our finances, I can't breathe..." If I said that to my husband, we'd both fall over laughing. That's not how we talk to each other.

Realtor here. I you're planning to get a mortgage soon, do nothing!! Dont buy a car. Dont change jobs. Don't buy clothes online with 4 easy payments. Don't do big house decor spending. (Cards futz with your credit but cash drawn down suddenly effects average account balance.) Laser focus on the loan til you're CLOSED and take possession. Then relax and do what needs doing.
Exactly, plus keep your paystubs, get a pre-approved amount from your financial institution that you'll be using then keep your down-payment in your primary checking account to show the lender that you can maintain a high balance.
My advice to the 1st caller (Dexter from PA), don't get involved with her yet. That's one pandora's box you do not want to open. She's a hot mess right now and will need a lot of time to get right, if she ever does. Sorry bro but, distance yourself from her.
What we are seeing with some of these students you speak of, is that the lack social skills. Many are raising themselves with the currently technology as their 'escape'.

A storm shelter is an emergency! We’re in Iowa and have tornados here. Hubs and I have never been through one personally or his parents, but two years ago, his parents home got hit some and did lots of damage and the next door neighbor got the whole top part of house ripped off (was rebuilt)!! ALSO our two boys and us have had to use our storm shelter a lot, already like 8 times this year!! We have an awesome good sized concrete one underground that came up from southern Missouri. LASTLY, we just had some tornados hit recently and one was in Greenfield, and my sisters friends whole house was destroyed, her and her daughter had to hide in their partial basement under stuff but bc it tore apart the whole home, they got really hurt, was in hospital; concussions etc. cuts and blood everywhere 😳 pls keep you and your family safe!! Even if never hit bad, could any time! It’s life or death. Many have died recently in all the tornados!! 🌪️

Plus at events concerning events in the child's life, keep a level head.

actually he doesn't as long as he sets that boundary up front. the exes have to deal with each other. i don't have anything to do with my exes wife and my husband has nothing to do with my ex. they never interact. my ex is my problem, not my husbands

There’s more that comes with tornados than just a potential “finger” on the ground. The storm around them can bring high high winds, large hail, and pretty heavy rain. If Dave lived in Oklahoma he’d have a different opinion on closing schools for big storms lol

I’m on step 2 with $100,000. Two new cars with about $50,000 and student loans with about $42,000. Started out with $117,000 in student loan and $105,000 in car. Thankfully we have a big shovel.

My wife is a retired judge and attorney so her idea is that she works too hard not to have a new car and my Jeep wrangler four door has a poor crash safety rating so we got new cars. I understand that is not conforming to the Ramsey principles and we are doing them because at least my wife is on board with the EveryDollar app and budget and we are burning through our debt. I justify it the same way dave justifies Sharon wanting stuff. I have to pick my battles.

@@eprofessio yup, fair enough. I'm in a similar situation but our debt very minimal. We also have a big shovel and she contributes almost as much as me so, she's the one driving the newer car. Happy wife, happy life.

Man sometimes it's not about the investment. Buy the property build the tiny house and have your little peace on earth! That dirt will only increase in value and when you're really ready to build a house build a house on it!

My sentiments exactly. If this is in relation to the first call, there was a lot of information missing. The callers girlfriend should have visitation of some form unless there were some extremely unhealthy lifestyles going on.
@@xero32542 Not always. Some people use money, various forms of abuse and control to slow this process down. It might happen but takes time to work through the courts.
Yes I agree with with fighting in court with the attrition of stalling and money to drag out the process.
But in family and divorce court usually sways custody to the favor of mothers.
For a mother to have absolutely no custody is where this story goes off the rails and facts are missing about why she does not have any custody. That’s not a money issue. That’s a lifestyle issue. It takes a lot for a mother to have absolutely zero custody.

@@xero32542I was thinking the exact same thing. The fact that the mothers refusing help also shows that she wants to keep the guy at some distance. Are there drugs or some kind of abuse involved? This dude is head over heels and I think that she's cunning enough to make sure he doesn't see the red flags. It is exceptionally rare as you said for a man to get primary custody without the mother being a seriously terrible person.
Almost 4 minutes into the first call and no question. Make them write down a question and then get background as needed.

The first caller, Dexter is in for a nightmare. Financially paying the bills of a woman he isn't married to, a woman who in the United States of America has lost complete custody and visitation rights to a child (and owes her family money) which means she has had major problems, possible drugs (especially to have lost visitation completely)
That story got worse by the second.
And he is not going to take the advice. He is blind

My neighbor Richard Kerns foreclosed on a trailer house of male “family member” that was struggling and then took the wife to court to take custody of the child. Thankfully the court kept the mother and child together then the girls fled three states away. I know because my neighbor told me the whole story and it sounded evil from the outside looking in.

Say what you want about Hyundai, they’ve got a lot of engine issues going on lately, but at least they put a really good warranty on them, but seriously Nissan? A 2021 has the transmission die and isn’t up for warranty work? I get that it might have higher mileage and be outside the standard warranty, but that’s a really bad look to deny warranty on a 2021. They should really step up and take care of this dude

Great episodes But nothing I can use at my age (68). 15 minutes into it your formula for figuring what to charge when selling a business goes over my head but I do want to listen and learn anyway. Love the Ramsey method. But the call with Jerry made me think baby step one should be to save 3-6 months. He saved a thousand paid off his debt then had an emergency he couldnt pay for that prevented him from earning money. Seems backwards
Most people would then give up at Baby Step 1 and never pay off a cent of debt.

We cheated at baby step 1 and saved $10k in a high yield savings account instead. $1k never made sense for us. 2 months away from completing baby step 2 🎉.
