Hi Dan. The Gordon looks just like the early Chinese Flying Scotsman with a face and tender drive. Can you confirm this from what you have seen with this model. There is a work round for the tender wiring problem. Unsolder the power wires. on the metal plate springs you can see 2 metal plates sticking out. One from each plate. Get 2 small female insulted wire connectors that fit these plates and solder the wires to them. That way you can remove the wires when ever you want to work on the motor.
