      Hey
      I had a doubt related to the midi workflow in Cubase 13. Every time I try to copy a part of the midi clip using the range selection tool or manually shorten it (dragging from the bottom left) I can see all the extra midi information that fall outside the region boundary.
      Is there a way to hide this extra information as it just clutters up the screen when I'm doing multi part editing. The only fix for this so far is to duplicate the midi event and split it using the scissor tool. That is completely counter intuitive and is an extra step with the range selection tool available. I might be missing something in the settings. Please let me know if there's a way to fix this.
      I've used Logic Pro and Ableton Live for the most part. Has it always been this way in Cubase?

    • @ErixSamson
      @ErixSamson 20 дней назад

      @@YashOnTheBeat When you are in the Project View you should not see the notes that are no longer in the scope of the reduced MIDI event (they are still there, but you don't see them). When you are in the MIDI Editor or use MIDI Edit in-Place function, then the MIDI notes that are overlapping with the current MIDI event are visible but they should appear with only an outline color and no background, so that you know they won't be played, even if you see them. If later you decide to extend your MIDI event back to its original size, your MIDI notes will re-appear normally. I think it is a good behavior, at least I'm used to it 🙂

    helpful key command is the toggle channel/left zone. In my case its 'i' . Don't know if i changed it myself because i ported lots of logics keycommands to cubase.
    With this you can have either channel or leftzone open, and toggle with one button. So you can use your screen more for the actual productions.

    Hi Josh, planning to switch to cubase 13..(10y logic user, just bought c13).please can you make a comparison between logic and cubase sound engine? load some kontakt instrument in both and export the file, do you think that cubase sounds kinda cleaner and warmer than logic? or am I crazy? regards and thank you for your honest reviews...

    • @foljs5858
      @foljs5858 3 месяца назад

      DAWs all sound the same. The "X sounds warmer than Y" is a myth. You can export a track from one, export the same track from the other (with matching levels), load to whatever DAW as 2 separate tracks, invert the phase of one, and you'll get absolute silence. This has been time many times, and what means is the audio produced by both engines is identical. The only thing that DOES and CAN change is the bundled stock fx plugins, stock instruments, etc. Those will have their own sound.

    How do you handle key commands when switching between different daw’s? Do you use a preset from another daw or do you just learn the key commands.

      The quick answer is.... I'm hitting the wrong ones all the time. 🤣 Studio One was my most used DAW before Logic so I switched everything over to a Studio One style key command setup. Cubase has very similar commands to Studio One. If you make the switch I'd just customize the key commands to your liking. Both Studio One and Cubase make it really easy to do. First one I changed in all of my DAWs was to press R for record. lol

    The biggest problem that prevents me from switching DAW is that Studio one supports ctrl+z operations (recording all parameters of VST), but Cubase is not working. Additionally, I am unable to select multiple tracks on Cubase for unified adjustment (not precise enough). If these two issues are resolved, I will not hesitate to use Cubase/nundo. I don’t know C13 but in S1 you can version your arrangements and every session for that matter as well and create unlimited versions of an arrangement and sessions. Could you go into more details of what the differences are?

    • @glennlittle7955
      @glennlittle7955 3 месяца назад +1

      My understanding with Studio One is that you can only drag and drop arranger sections and that you only have one arranger track. Is that correct?
      In Cubase (and in Cakewalk actually) an arrangement is separate from the timeline. You can have multiple arrangements and each one is a list of arranger sections. So an arrangement plays through its list of arranger sections in that order and not how are they are displayed on the timeline. Eg arrangement 1 (let's name it Single Edit) might say play intro alternative 2, verse 2, chorus 1, verse 1 twice, chorus 2 twice. You can have multiple arrangements so arrangement 2 (let's name it Extended Remix) can be defined differently. None of this affects anything on the timeline.
      In addition you can define multiple arranger tracks so you can define subsections and / or overlaps. Arrangements can call sections from any and every arranger track.
      You can render an arrangement out to external audio directly, or you can commit an arrangement to the timeline in either the current project or a new one.
      Honestly I don't know why every daw doesn't have this or similar. Apart from anything else it's the easiest way to try out different ideas for arrangements.

    • @tam_ryan1036
      @tam_ryan1036 3 месяца назад

      I find I never use that option. I can’t see the advantage over just using ‘Save as…’. Then you see all your different versions in Finder.

    • @glennlittle7955
      @glennlittle7955 3 месяца назад +1

      @@tam_ryan1036 Yes and no. The arrangements don't look like the timeline, they're just a list of arranger sections with some parameters. But yes, more sophisticated in my opinion. The arranger in S1 looks like little more than a (very) convenient labelling and cut / copy / paste mechanism. That's great but this is a lot more. It's not perfect but it is extremely useful. I'd struggle to be without it.
