A confusing, yet beautiful combo: Chinese style music, in an anime, based on ancient Korea's Shilla kingdom, all animated and sang/spoken in Japanese. It's beautiful. (*silently cries in a corner)
Dina Fritz Well, the Korean Shilla kingdom is more similar to the portrayal of the royals in the story than Chinese or Japanese ancient royal kingdoms and the names of characters all seem to be Korean inspired. Although Korean naming is based on Chinese characters, so you could argue that’s Chinese in origin in a way. I think the studio might have meant the story does not draw upon any particular historical character.
@@123-q2q2u the names in this anime are all Korean names and the story of the koka kingdom here sounds pretty similar to the story of Korea in shilla time .
Honestly think it has one of the best ever character developments I've watched alot of anime and character development is somewhat rushed in even the best ones but yona takes in all her surroundings and experiences and ended up so fierce at the end

Akatsuki no Yona is the only anime that made me feel every emotion that the characters are feeling.....literally. Like when Soo won betrayed Yona, I feel the pain and the betrayal Yona feels. This anime is magical and beautiful..... and also very UNDERRATED. It deserves more

I got goosebumps when this song was played in the last scene of the movie. When everyone stands on the edge of a mountain, looks down at the soldiers and Yona asks everyone to let her borrow their strength. Then their faces slowly become clear under the sunshine. That scene fits the chorus of the song perfectly XDDD
Zeno is just such a great character. His past brought me to tears man. Him being always so cheerful in spite of that breaks me 💔 Really hope he gets a happy ending.
Yes!! Zeno is an amazing character, and I've been brought to tears by him myself. He actually reminds me of another character I adore-Kenshin Himura. He acts very cheerful and unassuming and even goofy, but then you find there are whole other sides to him, and a great deal of suffering he's suppressing. (Actually, I realized recently that Kenshin shares traits with both Zeno and Su-Won.)
AaZtha There’s a lot about him in the manga, though! (-: Zeno, and the other characters, as well! If you haven’t already read the manga, I *highly* recommend it! There are are also OVAs that cover some of the same backstory information regarding the characters. But I would recommend watching those **after** you’ve read up to the current chapter in the manga, as there are spoilers in the OVAs that would give away some of the most impactful scenes in the manga.
there is plenty enough content in the manga for two full 26 episode seasons, i have been keeping up with the manga. also, the manga has started to get localized (surprised me actually) so i highly recommend buying it. i personally will in the future once i get caught up with a few other series that i am buying. it's available by Viz manga, even though it's not a Shojo Beat publication if i recall.

Snappy Zura I can't really comment on the manga, I myself think it's popular as well. It's a great story after all. The anime however... On every sales I've seen on ANN the anime BD/DVDs never sold more than around 400 copies per volume. Unless a show's BD/DVDs sell more than 3000 units on their first week, any chance of a sequel goes down the drain...

I simply can't get over the abstract bs statements about him performing some sort of mysterious duty towards the people when he's late to solving anything, even though he has far more plentiful resources as opposed to Yona, financial, informational and in personnel, and instead of strengthening the country from within and making it impervious to attacks from others, he's starting up military conflicts left, right and center while the country is barely hanging on or recovering from other issues.

Yona is the definition of girl power. this song is powerful it makes you want to dance. in my opinion. Yona had a peaceful life in a kingdom where she doesn't know whats going on on the outside, but when she escapes and meets the dragons she see's more and her character grows more wise and she knows what to do now if she decides to rule over the kingdom again. Yona is the definition of girl power and she motivates girls. in my opinion. she is my favorite character and we need a second season to know more and know how she becomes later on. she is a strong willed girl and she will do anything with the help of her Body-guard (friend!! *cough*crush*cough*) Hak, and the dragon warriors: Shin-ha, Jea-ha, Kija, and Zeno. how will it turn out? will Yona be able to Kill Soo-won?? we may never know!!! When the invasion was repelled Yona and her crew did most of the work, from exposing the traitor to doing battle strategy and also actual fighting. But the actual worst was, after which I dropped it, when this personification of a damsel in distress, Yona, on her own accord and free will let herself get captured and be brought to the castle she once lived in. To do... what exactly? The official reasoning was to help the dude that mercilessly killed her father and maybe learn some politics. Despite her saying 5 chapters before that, that she doesnt want the crown. And if she wanted to learn politics... Even an enemy kingdom would be more safe than the palace she got nearly killed in (dont forget the poor soldier boy who died for her just so she could flee that place.) The story stopped making sense for the sake of cheap drama. That when I stopped reading
Light's Blade It's a shoujo. Which means it's generally (like I said) focusing audience to girls. It's a reverse harem. Also, some girls like fighting (physically) too.

Yona Of The Dawn (Akatsuki No Yona) always reminds me of The Twelve Kingdoms (Juuni Kokuki). Though unlike The Twelve Kingdoms, Yona Of The Dawn has romance in it.
The music sounds mystical and deep at some parts then there are a few light hearted notes. This kind of traditional music is rare to find in anime, and not only is the story outstanding but the music goes so well! It’s nice to listen to this in quarantine! :3
You should check out the singer, Akiko Shikata's other stuff as well. All her songs have a very mystical feeling about them, I think she's one of a kind

+Stormborn Well, imo he did that to protect the country. If you read the manga carefully, he said he had no desire in taking the throne and if you analyze it from the start he did not want Yona and Hak to be involved in that Killing.
I don't think..I can forget this anime in my entire lifetime...it won my heart and for sure it's place is irreplaceable! A legendary masterpiece indeed!

The character development of Yona from a prim princess to a courageous warrior is so well done. You don’t realise it because how gradual and natural it is but after like half the manga is done and you look back at how she was and it makes you so awestruck. And not just her, the character of Hak is so well portrayed too...and his character development is so subtle as well...you just don’t realise but his protective nature only for Yona in the beginning to him wanting to protect all the six is so sweet..

The saddest thing of all is the anime being 20% of the manga and people NOT reading the manga :( it truly is a masterpiece, definitely recommend! Normally I read korean Manhwas, which are colored, but the japanese manga Akatsuki no yona isnt colored and still makes me feel the most emotions. What a masterpiece

This anime is simply a masterpiece. Watching this felt like read a classic story. There's not just romance, but also war, greed, and moral dilemma. And by far Yona is the best shoujo MC I know. Smart, strong, and her character developement is really great.

Just now i finished this anime. This anime has uniqueness from other animes how a life gets changed for a princess who nothing know about outside world but how she started to overcome that conflict in her own way. This anime is like a story evryone fantasized and wondered in their dreams. Powerful legendary warriors who were born to protect under some ancient myths ... truly satisfying to watch i wish this story remains in heart and about songs & bgm fantastic we can feel it...
yona is the one of the best anime girl in my list.. i respect her so much, her character development is nice..from spoil lil princess become strong and brave queen. that's the type of the girl i like //sorry bad grammar
It's been 6 years since I came across Akatsuki no Yona and I'm still hopeful for a second season. I love this series. I wish we get more historical high fantasy series like this one. So grateful for the manga! It's a must read.
Ahhhhh all the moments where Yona and her gang run into Soo-Won make me squeal and dance around, idk why but they're so epic and exciting for those two world to collide

I've never seen a manga so beautifully crafted before. Character development is surprisingly well demonstrated here, which makes the manga better. The storyline is also too amazing! A Court of Cherries and Blossoms apparently the show lost popularity at the time which led to sponsors dropping out and the show didn't have enough money to air. Though with the sudden increase in popularity and the English dub they might be able to air it now!
It breaks my heart that this won't get a season 2 because we won't see that scene with Zeno from the manga. I can imagine it would have been the most heartbreaking moments in the anime. I won't say anything else for those who haven't read the manga.

I thought this anime was your typical anime where love and adventure just gets mashed up together- but tbh it’s so much more than that huhuhu. The diversity between the protagonist and antagonist are so captivating. It’s definitely one of the best for me :0 the feelings of the characters are correctly portrayed and their personality are stable plus the soundtrack is amazing lmao.
Now is 2020 but I think Akatsuki no Yona is one of the best animes I have known. The opening and ending song so good, specially is this ending, about 16s first made me cry.
When I imagine the scenario with this songs I see that Yona was able to return her kingdoms strength and they are having a festival celebrating 'The Return of Hirryu Queen'
Yona is a great example of character development. Also the anime was so good, from plot to new characters, music & animation loved everything about this show.

Yona's character development is my favourite character development There will be manga spoilers in this. So, Yona is a brat who is spoilt, doesn't thank her father at all, in the beginning. Then she slowly starts maturing and realizing her mistakes. She's now grateful for the little things she has. She rules very well, and when she took over for Soo-won, I was so shocked. She doesn't want to rely on others anymore, she wants to be independent, which is one of the things I like about her. The child born with a silver spoon and a crown on their head, who was raised with everything, became the woman who leads very well, smart, caring, and a character I love.

Dina Fritz Well, the Korean Shilla kingdom is more similar to the portrayal of the royals in the story than Chinese or Japanese ancient royal kingdoms and the names of characters all seem to be Korean inspired. Although Korean naming is based on Chinese characters, so you could argue that’s Chinese in origin in a way. I think the studio might have meant the story does not draw upon any particular historical character.

Yes!! Zeno is an amazing character, and I've been brought to tears by him myself. He actually reminds me of another character I adore-Kenshin Himura. He acts very cheerful and unassuming and even goofy, but then you find there are whole other sides to him, and a great deal of suffering he's suppressing. (Actually, I realized recently that Kenshin shares traits with both Zeno and Su-Won.)

Zeno, and the other characters, as well! If you haven’t already read the manga, I *highly* recommend it! There are are also OVAs that cover some of the same backstory information regarding the characters.
But I would recommend watching those **after** you’ve read up to the current chapter in the manga, as there are spoilers in the OVAs that would give away some of the most impactful scenes in the manga.

there is plenty enough content in the manga for two full 26 episode seasons, i have been keeping up with the manga. also, the manga has started to get localized (surprised me actually) so i highly recommend buying it. i personally will in the future once i get caught up with a few other series that i am buying. it's available by Viz manga, even though it's not a Shojo Beat publication if i recall.

Yona is the definition of girl power. this song is powerful it makes you want to dance. in my opinion. Yona had a peaceful life in a kingdom where she doesn't know whats going on on the outside, but when she escapes and meets the dragons she see's more and her character grows more wise and she knows what to do now if she decides to rule over the kingdom again. Yona is the definition of girl power and she motivates girls. in my opinion. she is my favorite character and we need a second season to know more and know how she becomes later on. she is a strong willed girl and she will do anything with the help of her Body-guard (friend!! *cough*crush*cough*) Hak, and the dragon warriors: Shin-ha, Jea-ha, Kija, and Zeno. how will it turn out? will Yona be able to Kill Soo-won?? we may never know!!! AHHH! love it!

The official reasoning was to help the dude that mercilessly killed her father and maybe learn some politics. Despite her saying 5 chapters before that, that she doesnt want the crown.
And if she wanted to learn politics...
Even an enemy kingdom would be more safe than the palace she got nearly killed in (dont forget the poor soldier boy who died for her just so she could flee that place.)

The character development of Yona from a prim princess to a courageous warrior is so well done. You don’t realise it because how gradual and natural it is but after like half the manga is done and you look back at how she was and it makes you so awestruck.
And not just her, the character of Hak is so well portrayed too...and his character development is so subtle as well...you just don’t realise but his protective nature only for Yona in the beginning to him wanting to protect all the six is so sweet..

This anime is simply a masterpiece. Watching this felt like read a classic story. There's not just romance, but also war, greed, and moral dilemma.
And by far Yona is the best shoujo MC I know. Smart, strong, and her character developement is really great.

This anime has uniqueness from other animes how a life gets changed for a princess who nothing know about outside world but how she started to overcome that conflict in her own way. This anime is like a story evryone fantasized and wondered in their dreams. Powerful legendary warriors who were born to protect under some ancient myths ... truly satisfying to watch i wish this story remains in heart and about songs & bgm fantastic we can feel it...
yona is the one of the best anime girl in my list.. i respect her so much, her character development is nice..from spoil lil princess become strong and brave queen. that's the type of the girl i like //sorry bad grammar
It's been 6 years since I came across Akatsuki no Yona and I'm still hopeful for a second season. I love this series. I wish we get more historical high fantasy series like this one. So grateful for the manga! It's a must read.

It sounds like this song is written about the dragons' and hak's thoughts that they would follow wherever she goes...
The friendships made between Yona, Hak, the Dragons, Yun and all the other people they meet just feel so genuine, it's incredible.
I never loved every single member of an anime or manga main friend group this much before, they are written with so much love and care!

I've never seen a manga so beautifully crafted before. Character development is surprisingly well demonstrated here, which makes the manga better. The storyline is also too amazing! Most heartbreaking one for me was about Zeno’s past :’( I am really in love this

OMG AND THE STORYLINE IS SO INTERTWINED WITH ITS BACKGROUND/ROOTS OF THE CHARACTERS- SOO GOOOD. Honestly one of the BEST STORIES, not just manga, literally one of the most well-crafted, beautifully orchestrated pieces of literature I've ever come across. Manga/webtoons/webnovels easily lose attention after 200+ chpts. I've already reread the manga 5 times bc I'm so DESPERATE FOR MOREEE-

It was supposed to air in October last year but it never happened, and I still have never found out why.
A Court of Cherries and Blossoms apparently the show lost popularity at the time which led to sponsors dropping out and the show didn't have enough money to air. Though with the sudden increase in popularity and the English dub they might be able to air it now!

The manga is freaking me out so much. Just based on the music I'd want this anime to continue but when you add on how well it was done and how much fun the manga is having it just feels criminal not to continue the anime

I thought this anime was your typical anime where love and adventure just gets mashed up together- but tbh it’s so much more than that huhuhu. The diversity between the protagonist and antagonist are so captivating. It’s definitely one of the best for me :0 the feelings of the characters are correctly portrayed and their personality are stable plus the soundtrack is amazing lmao.
This the only anime/manga makes me feel so emotional: I can cry, laugh, feel mad and etc. it really deserves more recognition!
Now is 2020 but I think Akatsuki no Yona is one of the best animes I have known. The opening and ending song so good, specially is this ending, about 16s first made me cry.
When I imagine the scenario with this songs I see that Yona was able to return her kingdoms strength and they are having a festival celebrating 'The Return of Hirryu Queen'

So, Yona is a brat who is spoilt, doesn't thank her father at all, in the beginning. Then she slowly starts maturing and realizing her mistakes. She's now grateful for the little things she has. She rules very well, and when she took over for Soo-won, I was so shocked. She doesn't want to rely on others anymore, she wants to be independent, which is one of the things I like about her.
The child born with a silver spoon and a crown on their head, who was raised with everything, became the woman who leads very well, smart, caring, and a character I love.
When I first heard this song I was like Japan actually made Chinese music with japanese lyrics this good?This is where cultural appreciation rises! Don't know if Chinese folks like this but I will say my mind is blown.This is such beautiful music, it's like pouring honey in my ears.Also one of the best shoujo series.
