What I love most is how, to someone who doesn't know, the scene at 0:39 looks just like some funny weird animation. Like "Hahah TerminalMontage is so wacky". But to those who know, it's ACTUALLY representative of the programming chaos that was going on behind the scenes with the data entry manipulation that made the speedrun possible. Brilliantly animated.
It always shocked me how much the world itself seemed to get f***ed up in Mario speedruns. It was as if they were sometimes just running through the net code.
Nintendo used some black magic to get such a huge world to fit in such a small cartridge and getting such a weak system to handle the game And the speedrunners just, break the magic and turn everything back into chaos

I only JUST noticed that the audio during the block warp is the datamosh of Peter eating a rice cake, unbelievable, one of my favorite videos and I never even noticed it was added in. Love it.
Yeah, I had to go and watch the 3 minute TAS run and it surprised me how similar this video was to it. What I also find neat is that people can backwards jump for speed in SMB3 just like Mario 64

I love how accurate these speedrun videos are to the actual speed runs. Like this one is spot on as well as the BOTW speedrun. Makes it even more hilarious when the nonsense in the animation is based on the nonsense in game!
i dont know if people know this, but if you get 2 warp whistles and use one and then use the second one when you are in the warp zone, you go to world 8. that way you just go to the tower in w1 and skip world 7 entirely

ok i’m not one to expose excellent moves and times, especially that wrong warp but this run is clearly spliced (0:06) so i’m not sure about this runs validity. other than that, good stuff :D
Plot twist: Mario is the stalker that Bowser is helping Peach escape from, but Mario keeps finding her and locking her back up into the “Castle” that he built for her and refuses to allow her to leave.
I've spend almost 5 hours to finish this game in NES from start to end without using any flutes and clearing all stages. It's not a speed run but it makes me proud because means I'm not becaming demented because of my old age😅
I had to go watch a 15 minute video explaining the "Wrong Warp" exploit to fully appreciate TerminalMontage's pure madness.
