yeah, WHY is that? ..I'm in continental Europe, so I don't mind, but I'm just wondering. It will be released theatrically in the UK, US, and Canada last - after all international public premieres.
Legendary Entertainment (which produced it) is an American production company.
Is it already showing in Europe because it opened in Venice (where all the European business end of things was conducted)? ..but release dates are decided way before that.

I'm going next Wednesday with my wife. She hasn't read the book and isn't a SciFi fan, so I'm curious what she will think.
That it's going to be released last in the US is bizarre. I guess they like piracy? I thought two decades ago they finally switched to releasing movies everywhere around the world at the same time in order to reduce the demand for illegal downloads, and now they're switching it around so the most important market gets it last? I don't get it.

the dear lady may not know this since she has not finished the book but the lady Jessica delivers a line close to the end that is to me, utterly breathtaking and heartwarming.
I love this dark and sad story. It's a fantasy that reflects reality quite accurately. Frank wanted to explore the question, "What do we do with our messiahs, with our heroes?" and "I believe every hero should come with a warning stamp on his forehead, "warning: maybe dangerous to your health".
This story explores the deep entanglement of religion and politics, political intrigue among lesser powers, the powers of religion upon very simple people and the endless work of an honored ecologist who inspired these simple people to bring a balance of water to the desert without killing the substance of the spice, the Giant worm, Shyhalude.
The first book was written to be one story ended where it's at, not knowing how it would be received. It is a masterpiece in itself.

It's shocking how she was so good in the movie despite not reading the book.

I'm so sad I have nobody to go see this with! 😥 I'm a fan of "Dune" the book series, and of David Lynch's troubled film (Third Stage Edition fan edit!), and I was so glad to hear that Denis Villeneuve was the director (I loved "Arrival" and "Bladerunner 2049").
I also wish this interview had been longer. I've never seen Rebecca Ferguson before and she seemed delightful, but struggling to be present with Stephen's fanning over Dune (I understand it, but he should have let her talk more, and the short segments are a problem; I also suspect she has already spent a long time on set with a LOT of men having most of the focus).

From reading series to seeing the first film, and many tv version, they all had positives and negatives, I love fantasy and science fiction, so I'm more forgiving with a "loose" script. I hope the heck this newest rendition will be spot on or close. I know Ferguson when interviewed stated she didn't need to know the story or read the book in order to understand her character. I'm on the fence because she most likely doesn't recognize how many Dune fans are still around hoping she'll do Lady Jessica justice. Personally, knowing the huge history and fan base that I'm sure this production is trying to tap into it can only help to do research to make a character more relatable. Sometimes, casting people just because they are beautiful isn't enough to be convincing in the role. Time will tell, I'm excited to see Dune.

To be honest, when she said she didn't need to know the story or read the book in order to understand her character, I was appalled. As a fan of the Dune books since the mid-1970s, as someone who has marveled over the year at the incredible depth of Herbert's future history, I could only reflect upon how utterly shallow our culture has become. Does anyone read anymore? Or is saying that you don't read something people are now proud of? I kept watching this interview, hoping it would get better. It didn't.

It is mostly really close to the book and always close enough to not be jarring.
Relatively little was cut out and I felt it was usually positive, to get the pace up at least a little bit.
It nevertheless fells more like an old-school movie, with lots of exposure.
I think you will enjoy it, especially if you know the books.
