I hate the way journalista talk about how people like Farage connect with audiences. It's so easy to connect with audiences when you've never been in power, can promise the world to people knowing you have zero chance of becoming PM in this GE and are a general disrupter and agitator - OFCOURSE people will gravitate towards candidates who are saying exactly what they want to hear, even though they dont have the answers to any of the issues affecting people today.

Doesn't matter whether it's left or right, the ruling classes are the middle and upper classes. Majority of the power positions in Britain are overwhelmingly held by middle class people. That is a statistical fact. That's why politically and socially Britain is broken, as currently the culture and economic trends are middle/upper class driven. No wonder many will start going over to ReformUK and watch that increase under a Labour government. All so predictable, when people don't listen.

Sunak wants to present himself as a new page in Tory history, separate from the sins of the previous leaders.
But he is PERSONALLY responsible for the debt we're in.
Not metaphorically, not just because he's rich, or worked in banking. But because he, specifically, crashed our economy in 2007-8.
Before being an MP, he was one of the hedge fund speculators, who gambled with the US economy, and caused the worldwide crash.
So, no, I'm not giving him the benefit of the doubt, or giving him another five years to gamble with our money, enrich himself, and leave us poorer.

Using an analogy to make it more obvious to you:
"Sunak, are you going to burn down the house to fix a leaky roof?"
Sunak: "If I must burn down the house to deal with the leaky roof then yes this is what I am prepared to do. You may take a different view and think that a leaky roof is fine; I don't, so therefore I will burn down the house if necessary to fix it"

What does it mean that a politician "connects with the people". The people don't "connect" with each other because people are not homogenous. In a carefully selected audience of folk from across the political spectrum, the best any politician can do is connect with a subset of the audience while not completely alienating others. Sunak was unique last night in that whereas the others probably connected with 30%, were neutral with 40%, and rejected by 30%, Sunak the three equivalent percentages felt like 10%, 10%, 80%.
