    Is the umpire the same that was hit by Shapovalov in the Davis Cup some years ago? I'm not sure. If he really is, it's great to see him fully recovered.

      The chair umpire that Shapo hit was Arnaud Gabas. He’s been back in the chair for a couple of years now.

    Draper is a class act. Just think 3.5 yrs ago this guy gassed out at the US open and had one of the most frightening collapses Ive ever seen. I thought he had a heart attack. Now rising in the game like I predicted.

    It’s all very well saying things are good sportsmanship at 15:15 two games in or during the United Cup or something. THIS is actually the real deal. Something Bopanna would be proud of!

    At first i thought the ball was in but the line judge called it out and Jack was being a good sport. Then i watched carefully again, and it shows the ball was actually out. The reason for Jack conceding a first serve was the bang noise just before Kokkinakis served. What a good sport. Nice!!!

      Yeah he's at home watching the us open, and draper clearly asked them to look at the replay. At that speed when you're only focused on one thing that job falls to the umpire not the player. And he'd have beaten FAA anyway. He levels better than him. And it was FAAs choice to force an ultimatum rather than continue playing which draper offered. Draper did nothing wrong period. If FAA was all that he'd been in the us open semis after winning 15 straights sets abd not even one tie breaker. FAA will do nothing in tennis. He's an also ran. But draper will eventually make number one while FAA I'd trying to qualify. Nobody cares about a 3rd rate player from Canada who chose to bail on that match cause he knew he was going to lose anyway.

      that's not why Jack gave him a 1st serve, had nothing to do with the call. There's a loud noise from the stands right before Kokkinakis serves, that's why Draper gave him that courtesy.

    Everyone in comments below seem to know why Draper conceded first service to Kokkin. Is the reason so clear? Seems to me there was a sudden noise while Kokk was serving, but i'm not sure.

    Interesting. The first serve was long. Look at the ball marks on court before the first serve and notice the new ball mark after the serve. It's clearly long.

      It was nothing to do with it being long, it was about the noise just as he was serving and draper thinking it may have put him off. Nobody was disputing that it was out.
