  • This video shows the gear I brought to Mt. Rainier on July of 2018. Heres a few extra items I brought that were not mentioned in the video.
    -extra headlamp batteries
    -guy lines for the tent
    -chapstick
    -silk sock liners
    -OR sombrero hat
    -Extra water bottle
    -Gallon bags for garbage
    -Rain cover for the backpack
    -a large garbage bag to bring clean snow to the camp for boiling. Also good for glissading.
    *I DO NOT recommend bringing the Pocket Rocket stove. I'd recommend something windproof and faster at boiling snow like this one: amzn.to/2tBfdg4
    *The Sawer Squeeze was difficult for filtering water and took too much effort/time. Heres the one I recommend: amzn.to/2EtUWzl
    Here's a few links to some of the gear mentioned here:

    You forgot to add bengay/aspercreme, tylenol, nasal spray to stop a runny nose, and ibuprofen. I really like that you added blister protection.

    Started following your channel! Great stuff. Find it personal and genuine. For your blister problem. Have you ever tried double socks? Thin layer first and hiking socks second. Cheers!

      Cheers! Yes, I have invested in some thin silk socks to go under my thicker ones. I used them 2 times until a friend told me about mountaineering compression socks. The compression socks have solved all of my feet issues. They are worth checking out. Cheers. www.smartwool.com/shop/phd-pro-mountaineer-socks-sw001095

    4:25 - buy Leukotape and tape your heels at the trailhead. No need to carry anything else.

      I'd have to agree, its like another layer of skin.

    Nice video. Assuming you survived. Wear Sox next time. Bare feet are no bueno!

    Did you bring a probe or beacon? I've heard mixed things about needing to bring one because if you are roped up and get hit by an avalanche there's not much to do about it...

    • @benmaundvisuals
      @benmaundvisuals  3 года назад +1

      A buddy who I was roped to had a Garmin in-reach. No probe or beacon though.

    Nut Butter packets, wish we'd had those on our trip! We took trail mix and clif bars...total fail. The gorp tasted like cardboard up high (also too fumbly with gloves on!) and the clif bars froze. Womp womp.

    Who did you go through to summit? Who did you practice mountaineering with weeks prior? I am very interested!!

      We went unguided. Drove to rainier several times to practice crevasse rescue and self arrest. Also practiced in our back yard :)

    How much weight was that all? And how many degrees the sleeping bag should handle?? Thanks for the advises

    • @benmaundvisuals
      @benmaundvisuals  5 лет назад +3

      Jerónimo Duvanced I didn’t weight it but probably around 40ish? It’s tough to think back. My bag was a 35 degree bag but my sleeping pad is super warm (x-therm max). I stayed warm all night. Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the video, Sir!
    How did the pocket rocket work up there? Do you wish you had something more similar to a JetBoil?

    • @benmaundvisuals
      @benmaundvisuals  3 года назад +2

      Of course. The pocket rocket was a terrible idea. Luckily someone in my crew had a wind burner. I've since purchased a Reactor and will never look back. Cheers!

    Nice video dude, well laid out. Have a good time :-) If you have the chance have a look at the Yi 4K, I did a big trip around Yellowstone, Casper, Colorado Springs etc and the Yi worked really well with my Sony A7iii

    • @benmaundvisuals
      @benmaundvisuals  6 лет назад

      xrayhead I will Check into it! How’s it compare to the GoPro?? Also-how are you liking the a7iii?

    • @xrayhead
      @xrayhead 6 лет назад

      The Yi 4K puts out a really crisp image and is just as good as the GoPro. Goor build, battery and functionality all round. I've had every GoPro from the V1 and I'm more than happy with the Yi. The A7iii is a beast and I'm still leaning - We started a new FB group if your interested facebook.com/groups/277077932848461/
      I got some stunning stuff from the A7iii when I traveled the west a few weeks ago. I'll upload them to my website soon www.G6photography.com :-)

      Yep, did it in July. Worked great...just a little heavy so we split up the tent between 2 of us.
