Red sand dances on the cracked earth The blue sky is unsuitable, but really beautiful I sing a song in a loud voice waiting for the arrival of rain for ever and ever The well is dried up, and it gives only stones The palm tree planted on the day I was born has withered The flowers decorating window is going to die My tears are not enough to moisten them Oh sun! Apollon's light! We don't need your kiss! Oh winds and clouds! Bring the rain! Pour water onto the palms of my hands! Oh sun! Apollon's light! Get away before dark! Oh winds and clouds! Bring the rain! Pour water onto this body! The dried lips tasted like sand I got used to the scorching pain of throat I'll sing and pray again and again Even if I feel hopeless again and again "That spring has already dried up long ago" "But wine is more than enough!" Dirty eyed drunkens are dancing with Bacchus beneath the Milky Way People's hearts are going to wither Is my song not enough to encourage them? Oh stars and moon! Deneb's light! We don't need your hug! Oh thunder! Come with rain! Pour water onto the palms of my hands! Oh stars and moon! Deneb's light! Get away before the dawn! Oh thunder! Come with rain! Pour water onto this body!
I gotta thank you for introducing me to such an amazing artist, never heard of Blackmore's night before, but just listened to Ghost of a Rose after seeing your comment, and I'm IN LOVE
What a beautiful song and at the same time something sad because it is a song begging for rain, these days of extreme heat and drought...it is sorely needed, agriculture is bankrupt due to lack of rain where I live (Spain, In southern Europe it is usually crazy temperatures...) So I'm going to enjoy the song and sing it for the rain!
¡No necesitamos tu beso! ¡Oh vientos y nubes! ¡Oh estrellas y luna! ¡La luz de Deneb! ¡No necesitamos tu abrazo! ¡Oh trueno! ¡Oh estrellas y luna! ¡La luz de Deneb! ¡Aléjate antes del amanecer! ¡Oh trueno! ¡Ven con lluvia! ¡Vierta agua sobre este cuerpo!
@@Niyucuatro It sounds more like a prayer for rain in a drought, than Renessaince-style dedication to such believes. Also, Ancient Greece music kinda sounded a bit like Celtic Folk too.
If you like this song, you should check a lot of Akiko Shikata's song. She's a great singer and songwriter. Pantalea, Ta Ga Tame no Sekai, Chronicle Key... try to check those songs (Sorry, for now I just remember those... But believe me, she has a lot more than that).
I don't know if you know, but Akiko Shikata sang quite a few songs for a PS2 JRPG series called Ar Tonelico. That's how I found her, and I've been listening ever since. Check out songs like Ar Ciel - Ar Dor, Exec Phantasmagoria, or Salavec Rhaplanca!
Sounds perfectly at home as battle music in a sword-and-sorcery fantasy setting. In fact, that was where I first heard this song: on an instructional video for my favorite MMO game, Perfect World International. Specifically, the video was for the dungeon Flowsilver Palace in its extra-challenging Judgment Mode, and this track plays when the creator-player's party is fighting the dungeon's bonus-boss: Belle Leun, the Mad Princess. Imagine fighting wave after wave of summoned minions as you're spamming your AoE, doing your damnedest to knock the Mad Princess off her pedestal, and then, what's this? Looks like the Tyrant Prince, whom you thought you'd just vanquished, has gained his villainous second wind! You'll have to be brave and nimble to triumph over the deadly decadent court...
Something along those lines..."Under the far too sunny sky..." I'm not a translator, and I'm not fluent, but as far as I can tell the song is about singing for rain in a drought. I'm fairly certain that the picture was actually made specifically with this song in mind. I could do a rough translation, if anyone's THAT curious.

Dziekuje bardzo panu!

It reads like a vesper, or a prayer, for rain.

now that you mention it they sound very similar lol
I was "only" hope I can empathize with all these tunes :lol

Song references Greek gods and apparantely dedicated to Classical Greece more.

I was having a bad day until I heard this song. I honestly did not see that coming.
