It looks like K-Pop stars are truly living the life. They have screaming fans and hit records. What else could they want? But there is a disturbing truth behind being in the Korean Pop industry. Here is the Dark Side of Being a K-Pop Star.
First, the bands may be making money, but they aren’t exactly living in the lap of luxury. Most bands tend to live together in what are called compounds or dormitories. For new bands, compounds can be extremely tiny and sparse. It’s not the living situation that you would expect your favorite star to be in, is it?
Second, they are encouraged to go on extreme diets. In this industry, thin is always better. You can find stories everywhere of K-Pop stars who only eat one meal a day or limit their calories to a measly 600 a day. One band was even rumored to just drink water for a week before they were introduced to the world.
Finally, when dieting isn’t enough, stars are persuaded into getting plastic surgery. The KPop industry is so obsessed with perfection that stars who want to make it big usually must turn to the knife. These procedures can range from a simple nose job to bone shaving.
Whether it be their love lives, the mental and physical abuse, or the intense restrictions, there is a lot that you don’t know about the lives of your favorite K-Pop stars. Stay tuned to The Dark Side of Being a K-Pop star to find out why one idol was forced to shave her head.

That One Friend I know we heard this before but people die everyday all ages sometimes killed intentionally and by accident. Whether you like it or not this was his choice is it a good one thats where you decided. He's a star you know his name and brand thats the only reason youre saying it's heartless. Once you put yourself out there you will always be judged even after death. Oh and lets also take into consideration he was in the thumbnail he wasent even talked about. My thoughts exactly. Given the last words and his will, Jonghyun did not suffer because of the "dark side of the kpop industry", rather it was his own artistry that left him feeling empty. He could not acknowledge his own growth and talents even when other saw it. Even when he himself knows that he did well, he could not feel it. By constantly blaming it on the kpop industry, the media are ignoring another major problem in society, mental illness.

The thumbnail was unnecessary and the girl who shaved her head is a Jpop idol not a Kpop idol. To non kpop fans: not everything in this video is true and some things are really exaggerated. Kpop has its dark sides, but so does western music and any other genre. In the past kpop industries were very abusive to their idols but they're slowly getting better. Kpop idols worked hard to get to where they are and do their best to give their fans high quality music and performances.

Dayummallu Jonghyun didn't die because of "the dark side of kpop" but because of the depression he had while being an idol, the schedules and everything on top made it worse. He struggled with inner demons but he knew he was loved by so many people yet his mental health was slowly consuming him .He couldn't really cope with the fame but he stayed for the fans, his members, and because of his love and passion for making music and performing. The industry has barely gotten better and I think it's disrespectful to put his memorial picture as the thumbnail for views and clicks from Jonghyun and SHINee fans alike.

Let me get this straight... they talk about how bad it is to be a K-pop star, they use Jonghyun's picture, and they don't even talk about him or say his name... I am actually horrified, he was a human being who went through so much.
Also, they talk about all the reasons why it's bad to be a K-pop star, but I have seen so much evidence that says otherwise. Idols being friendly with their fans when they don't have to be, certain idols doing what they want(Music and personal life) and making music they like, as well as groups who have a close and good relationship with the other members and managers/companies.
Since you used a lot of BTS pictures, I'm just telling they choose to still live together because that's how they like it and they just moved to a HUGE luxury apartment in Korea's most expensive complex.
