- in this video {518} Inverter Welding Machine Repair Course / How To Repair #Inverter IGBT #Welding / welder #Machine / i demonstrated how to troubleshoot and repair the low voltage power supply in the inverter welding machine mma-200. its inrush protection bypass relay found faulty due to its coil winding open circuit. that was not shifting the relay armature contacts. so the machine was being operated on PTC all the time. i removed alll existing solder on high frequency smsps transformer, mosfet and the smps circuit. this solder was removed to remove dry solder joints and performed fresh soldering. then powered ON, the smps circuit started switching with only 3 volt dc instead of 24 volts. then i discovered that there a diode RCD snubber circuit was shorted between cathode and anode. i replaced that diode i got 24 volt on relay coil input terminals, and the welding machine started working.
in this way we can recover a dead welding machine
in video number 515 i shared part-2 of the welding machine repair course.
in part-1 of this course video number 514 ( • {514} Inverter Welding... ) i discussed Input Rectifier Circuit Explained & Troubleshooting. and this session i discussed full bridge / switching topology. it takes +330 vdc from dc rail, and drive from the pulse transformer which is driven the control card, this full bridge IGBTs will drive the power transfomer to produce output voltage, these output voltage will then rectified by full wave rectifier and will appear on output electrodes. control card will control and limit the duty cycle to limit the conduction of IGBTs to limit the current in the output terminal. the amount of flowing current in IGBTs and primary side of the transformer will translated into corresponding voltage by means of current transformer (CT). the output of the ct will then reach to control card, the control card will compare this CT voltage value and the required current value (in from of the tapped voltage by the current adjusting potentiometer on the front panel), and after comparing these both values the PWM controller UC3846 will adjust its duty cycle.
circuit diagram and how to repair mma-200 or mma200 mma250, mma160 and troubleshoot inverter IGBT based welding maching. this china MMA-200T Inverter IGBT Welder Machine - Circuit Explained & Troubleshooting Part -1, is single phase 220 VAC operated. it have a bridge rectifier which rectifies the main ac voltage into dc voltage, which are connected to pair of dc capacitors through a relay contacts and in parallel 110 ohms ntc resistor. this nts protects from inrush current and upon receiving relay drive signal it switches the rectified voltage to capacitors so, the ntc is bypassed to get full current to drive igbt.

Congratulations. I have just repaired a £1400 Castolin & Eutectic welder. It cost me £10 and £16 for the fried components. Nobody could fix it. I did after watching your excellent videos. I think there's a heap of expensive welders out there which can be fixed.
It is a pity the market is flooded with inferior Chinese welders for very little money. The expensive machines cost a lot for a reason: excellent weld quality!

i have a welding machine BLUE 315 it has very weak welding and gradually it stops sparking. what cauld be the cause?
i tested the out put voltage and its only 9 volts DC
I did test on IGBT, RECTIFIERS ,CAPACITORS they are all okay and the fan is working.

I received a single board without igbt. When i install 60t60 it doesn't work at all. When i install 60n60 it works but igbt get hot after 50 seconds even without any load.do you know what can be the reason?

its control card is not controlling the pulse width to compensate the current requirement on the output terminal.
there are some trimpots near control card (feedback level control, which adjusts the output current level measured by the shunt resistance
2, primary current adjustment - to adjust the output of the current transformer CT in series with the IGBTs & power transformer
3. maximum current limit pot on the control card
4. short circuit current level adjustment pot)
all these trimpots need a very careful calibration to adjust the PWM output to provide the required current

In inverter welding machine if the PTC drops 15 v and gets hot after 1 minute of working and shut down the machine is the PTC itself the cause of this fault .PTC when cold is 140ohm then decrease its resistance
Sir, single board ka igbt bar bar kharab kyon ho jata hai kabhi kabhi welding rod touch karte samay kabhi 1, 2 din ke bad ya fir 1,2 mahine me jabki mai sabhi igbt ke gate aur emitter pr ac pulce cheke karke aur aapke video me dekha hai led se bhi cheke hue is tarah se bhi cheke karke igbt lagata hu. Mujhse kahan mistake ho raha hai pls. Reply

I think that you add is quite a lot of thermal grease,
and if there thermo pad is placed - there is no any reason for using thermo paste.
For example, thermo conductivity of those materials:
air = 0,02 W/(m*K)
thermal grease = 0,7 (regular) - 5 (very good quality) W/(m*K)
thermo pad = 3 - 14 W/(m*K)
thermal paste is attached and insulator is placed in between the IGBT tab and the heat sink,
but for better thermal conductivity the thermal must be used while we tight the heat-sink the thermal paste flows equally,
specially while working on high power dissipating devices, it must be used
