- New fish tank for my white fin rosy tetras. I had to setup this new aquarium (juwel rio 180 led) as i gave away my big fish tank due to quality issues. I almost lost the fun in keeping fish but this tank just reminded my why i love this hobby.

well i just wanted a bigger tank. got it, had many issues with it, gave it away and now ordered a 450 back again which will be delivered wednesday. i was always happy with juwel 😃

Great stuff and have just bought the Juwel 180 recently as well and have 3off fantail goldfish in it doing great. Also changed the supplied filter media to 30ppi Poret foam. Got a long 100x100 block of it and cut it to length so it would fit the lower filter section as a one piece block to use as my bio media section. Then cut another block for the top section leaving 1" height to allow me to put floss wool I could change each week. Water is crystal clear and all my levels at nearly zero. Great simple setup after selling my 450 litre, 2x heater, 2x external filter setup. Went smaller tank with fantail goldfish as well due to potential power cuts coming and higher electricity prices here in UK. Atb with your tank and will need to do a film about mine on RS Goes Aquatic as never done one since my old larger tank setup.
sounds great! 😃 honestly i'm thinking the same way as you regarding electricity and using heaters are the worst. i try to keep it at a minimum. this tank is at 24c° so the heater is on only during winter. i was thinking of getting geophagus or even discus again for my bigger tank but decided against it as i would have to heat 450 liter to 28c° and this could be expensive. i've just checked out your channel. the 450l tank looked really great! awesome clean look!

Du machst das echt sehr gut. Sowohl die Aquarien, aber auch das Video ist super geschnitten und unterhaltsam. Gibt für mich schönere Fische, aber die sehen darin sehr gut aus.
Danke vielmals! 😃 Was sind denn deine Lieblingssalmler oder Fische generell? Ich habe mir ja ein neues Becken bestellt und ja bin noch unsicher welche Fische es werden. Wird auf jeden Fall ein Wurzelbecken (Südamerika) und Panzerwelse sind auch sicher. Bei den Salmlern eventuell Zitronensalmler, Rote von Rio oder Rotblaue Kolumbianer. Eventuell auch was ganz anderes. Denke dass ich dieses Mal die Fische von Züchtern kaufen werde und nicht mehr aus dem Laden.
@@freshwatertanks Lieblimgsfische kann ich nicht sagen. Ich mag Glühlichtsalmler sehr.
Aktuell habe ich ja mal mit den Bitterlingsbarben was ganz anderes und bin sehr von denen angetan.
Ach ja, Rotaugen - Moenkhausia liebe ich. Die wären in einem Deiner Aquarien gut aufgehoben, denke ich.
Ja Barben hab ich mir auch schon überlegt. Sumatrabarben find ich toll, aber denke werde bei Südamerika bleiben. Die Rotaugen könnten wirklich noch in Frage kommen. Mag die noch. Danke! 👍

hi diane! 👋 thanks a lot. i found my passion in fishkeeping again 😄 the big tank was just a mistake and made me kind of sad and took the fun out the hobby. but yes i‘m replacing it with a juwel rio 450 which i had before. really excited! should arrive next week. went already driftwood shopping 😃 have a great day!

@@freshwatertanks the little nano tank at moment just has a male guppy and assorted snails, I decided against another beta.
The 6ft doing ok we lost 4 geophagus so only have 2 now don't know what caused it, I think we will just stick with loaches from now on 👍🤩
oh no sorry to read about your geos ☹️ ohhhh clown loaches? 😍 i‘m not sure if i will ever get a betta again. i know that i will set up one of my nanos after the 5ft one but i‘m sure i will go with shrimp…
I got 10 multilux tubes for £100 reduced from £500 from my local garden centre. Even though they say not for T5 fixtures, they run fine on a led driver with the correct current and wattage rating.

@@freshwatertanks i didn't make an offer they were just reduced as it seems they have given up on reptiles and have reduced the aquarium section. It was Downtown garden centre Grantham that I cleared out, they have another store in Boston if anyone is interested in checking them out.
Question. I’m having my doubts between buying a rio 180 or 240l. Is the volume/appearence difference really so considerable in favour of 240? I would also go for a blackwater tank. Thank you :)
i would go with the 240 if you have the extra space. it‘s just 20cm more but i think you will appreciate it.. but the 180 is great too. so you can‘t go wrong with both tanks! 😃

i think that should be possible. you could add a little bit more plants and test the water in the beginning. but i guess it should be okay with the mentioned stocking! 😃🌿

i think 600 is more than enough for my setup. would even prefer it a bit lower 😄 and one filter is definitely enough. what are you planning to add in your tank?
@@freshwatertanks atm I have 15x chilli rasboras, 2x neon blue rasboras, 8x pigmy corys, 3x Asian stone catfish, 3 neon blue gobbies (spread across two smaller tanks - once I move them in I'll be adding probably more different rasboras and more pigmy corys to be fair :) and some more algee eaters - all nano fish tho 🐟🐟🐟

i want to buy a 180 but where i have to put the tank the filter blocks my view , does it work the same if i remove it and flip it to the left side? has anyone done this? i wish it came unsiliconed

yes i‘m still a big fan of juwel aquariums. had already many models and was never disappinted. and the foils i use are from the company d-c-fix and i use water with a bit of soap 😃

Ich habe ja zwei Rio 180 (im Schlafzimmer) und ich habe mal die Ecoflow 300 probiert und die hört man wirklich gar nicht. Aber die Leistung ist mir zu wenig. Würde also die 600 behalten, auch wenn sie bisschen heftig ist.

Hey bud, get a bag of PURIGEN wash it out and put it in filter. The results in 24hr will be a crystal clear tank. Worked for me, best thing I ever did.

J'en suis à 5 bacs (du nano, 3x35l et 2x70l) et j'hésite à investir, les paramètres de l'eau de conduite ici (Belgique) est infâme et j'en suis à mixer avec de la Montcalm, ce qui représente un sacré budget au fil des années.
merci beaucoup pour ton commentaire! 😃 oui j'utilise un osmoseur. mais je ne dois pas vraiment utiliser beaucoup de l'eau osmosé (1/3 de l'eau) car l'eau ici est déjà assez doux. mmmh je pense que c'est moin cher d'utiliser un osmoseur que acheter de l'eau. et tu ne dois pas transporter l'eau apres acheter. peut etre c'est mieux de reflechir si tu veux acheter un 😃 mois je pense que c'est moins cher avec un osmoseur...

no i lost all my fish from the big tank when i added new wood. it was tragic 😕
What happen to your big fish tank?
i don't have it anymore. i've never enjoyed the tank as it had a lot of quality issues like scratches and also wrong measurements. i don't know but i only had headaches from the beginning with it. got a lot of my money back but i've decided to give it away as i couldn't enjoy it. so that's a fresh start for me. will get another 450 liter tank next week.

310 would be a dream but i live in an apartment so it‘s just too heavy!
not in Level doesnt matter when its that minimal. mine stands here for around 2,5 years now. the difference between the sides is 8 mm. nothing will happen
yes i know but i thought i change it while i can. my rio 450 is also not really even. no issues at all 😃
How did you level tne tank. My new Rio 240 has 1.5cm difference between sides. The feet on SBX vision are not adjustable. Is it ok just put something under the feet? 😊
i did use cardboard (beer coasters) to level the tank! 😃

Meine Wurzel steigt immer auf
ja ist normal. das kann bis zu ca 2 wochen dauern. am besten mit einem grossen stein oder so beschweren (je nach wurzelgrösse)
