Outstanding video! Thank you. I'm working on my 2001 330Ci (that's the coupe, NOT the convertible). In my car, I'm trying to get to the fuel pump, but cannot remove the backseat with those armrests in the way. Of course I took the screws out of the armrests to no avail. Appreciate your thorough and thoughtful narration! ***SEE UPDATE*** Jeff
Doh l was wrong and the Amazing Bimmer merchant is correct. We here in the UK drive on the wrong side of the road l was wrong and that wasn't the parking sensor module at the end of your vid and having taken all of those interior parts off my convertible l now need to replace and do the same on the other side Doh
On the 330Ci (coupe): I did finally get the backseat to come out (it's tight... very tight) I believe accomplishable without removal of the rear armrests/interior side panel. I know because I couldn't get those out (I did get them loose) without removing the seat bottom (I'm trying to get to the fuel pump)(accomplished) first. Kind of a "catch 22". Carefully remove the backseat bottom, working it on both sides over the rear ashtray/center console. Worked for me in my '01.
great video but incomplete! 3 people inquired about how to remove the piece at the top that was NOT removed in the video. There have been no answers to that question. Has anyone figured it out? if so, please post here.
Great video thanks I think the white module you point out at the end of the vid is actually the parking sensor module. On my convertible lm gonna go ahead and replace it ....... or l may just replace it lol (in the UK we dont go ahead and do something.... we just do it lol) If lm wrong il update. Thanks again for the great instruction
Good Job. Helped me with two issues. The bar in the back of the seat. Could never get it out so I worked around it. Now I know what I was doing wrong. I have to take the top part of the quarter panels out soon. You took care of the bottom and middle piece, which exposed the screws for the top piece. Anything else I need to know about removing the top piece? I have to replace the frame of my convertible top. I have a 2001 E46 convertible. The frame is bent and one of the pieces has broken away. I've found replacement frames on e-bay that should work. Do you know of any videos on this project? I replaced the top cover on a previous 3-Series and it worked out fine. I know this is a little more of a challenge. My car looks and drives great, but not being able to put the top up and down at-will, is a problem. Thanks,
two females a while back backed into the passenger side of my 01 330ci and dented it in (enough that its 2k at the shop without paint) or 2500 for PDR to remedy. i was hoping i could get access to that spot which is right at the body line and door jam area (door opens and closes fine) so i could try myself to get most of it out then fill the rest but i see now that there is no access. i suppose i could cut my primered 328ci left rear quarter out and replace it with that but... i may just snip a hole on the inside and do the work there. (*yes, i know its not logical) but i could re weld it back and hid it) sure itll be a weak spot. but noone rides with me anyhow. anyways, thanks for this vid. bc id been real upset to take out the rear folding seat and side card for nothing. P.S. advertise your group in e46 owners on Facebook...
I've got a dent. Trying to figure out if pushing it out from the inside is a viable option. Does that darker tan(ish) part behind the door card (where the speakers attach) come off so that i can access the metal body to push out the dent?
Hi. I was told my locking system may not be working because of the antenna under the back seat. Locking system works, just not with the key buttons. Key is transmitting. Which box under the seat is responsible for the locks? Thanks!
What speaks are best to replace the original ones, iv just brought my 325 convertible and need to replace the passenger rear side any decent makes want a nice bass subwoofer sound ??? Thank AC
How about removing the part on the top of that side panel, you didn't remove that part, where the metal bars of the convertible system move in and out?
Hi ! Love your videos ! I just wanted to know how you remove the upper part of the inner rear quarter panel you've just removed ? (The the lateral trim panel top rear part) Thanks ! Keep going ! 👍🏼
Thank you so much for the great video I had a question about the sound quality of my BMW I like to keep the manufactures CD player but I don't like the sound I like to connect the EQ to it do you think there's a way to connect an equalizer somewhere to get more high-end bass
Thanks. Top weather strip can be popped off, just be sure to start removal process from the rear, facing rear bumper, otherwise you will bend item and break it. www.bimmermerchant.com
Hi i have a dent on the moulding on the exterior of the quarter panel of my 2005 330Ci. I need to access the inner side of the panel to be able to push out the dent. I can't find a guide on reaching that part.
You can use this video he made as well as watch the video on how to remove the window regulator from the rear window, which he also made. This should give you plenty of access for tools to push out that dent.
I know it's been years since you posted this but I'm looking for the same info. And this video actually doesn't clearly indicate if the body is accessible yet because of the inner shell where the speakers are. Did you remove that tannish inner shell to push out the dent or did you access it a different way?
Above the quarter panel that you pulled out is a hole with a plastic piece, what is that called? I'm looking for both pieces on the driver side and passenger side.
so my convertable isnt working. light is blinking red. usualy mean that there is a short or connection broken. everything on mine is good. i replaced the module. nothing still. i took everything apart and found that where those 2 metal shields are. in the vid there is a black box there in the left conpartment and nothing on the right. same wiht mine but in my right compartment there is a connector identical to the ones on the module. just left there with a screw type connector as well. question for you is do u guys have anything like that there. please help me i cant get my convertable to work and its summer time lol. kinda ashamed of taking it out lol

Haha... I had the exact same issue. Ironic we're both Jeff. :-)

Hay man nice work but can I ask how long would it have took you to remove all the rear back section to replace the rear quarter window ?

Don’t think so but let us know if that worked
Just wanted to say this is a great vid, very clear, thank you.
Glad you found our DIY video useful.
Be sure to check out our bmw parts inventory at our website www.bimmermerchant.com
Why do you need to remove the seats? Is the lower speaker screw/bolt not accessible by just removing the center of the door card?
Hi. I was told my locking system may not be working because of the antenna under the back seat. Locking system works, just not with the key buttons. Key is transmitting. Which box under the seat is responsible for the locks? Thanks!
I need to replace my wind deflector mount/hole (old one crack and disintegrated basically)
Do I have to remove all that to replace it?….
most likely yes, but it seems you also need a new rear door card, don't think the mount is sold separately. let us know the outcome
What speaks are best to replace the original ones, iv just brought my 325 convertible and need to replace the passenger rear side any decent makes want a nice bass subwoofer sound ??? Thank AC
i would like to say your video was real helpful thank you.
Thanks.
How about removing the part on the top of that side panel, you didn't remove that part, where the metal bars of the convertible system move in and out?
On the e46 convertible right hand drive where’s the pdc module located
You might to check the trunk. Most modules are located by the spare wheel area.
Hope that helps. Also feels free to share our channel with anyone that might benefit from it.
Great video. Could you tell me is the speaker cover on the side panel easy to remove as mine is badly stained and needs painted? Thanks in advance
If we recall correctly, speaker cover cannot be removed from panel. You would need to get another panel with a good speaker cover
@@bimmermerchant not what I wanted to hear but thanks for the reply
Hi ! Love your videos ! I just wanted to know how you remove the upper part of the inner rear quarter panel you've just removed ? (The the lateral trim panel top rear part) Thanks ! Keep going ! 👍🏼
I'm trying to figure out the same thing before I start the project of trying to replace windshield deflector port on passenger side

Unfortunatley we don't deal with audio set ups. Im sure you could connect EQ, just search for the proper way to do it.
Nice video. How can the top part be removed? Can it just be popped off?
Thanks. Top weather strip can be popped off, just be sure to start removal process from the rear, facing rear bumper, otherwise you will bend item and break it.
