    Hope you are right and the commons are cheaper. These figure packs are the same price as the battle box which the battle box gives a bunch of figures and terrain. Battle box seems a great deal compared to these. $30 for the water is a fair deal.

    I think we have to keep in mind that while they do want to appeal to us old scapers, they want this new heroscape to be pulling a new audience as well and things like these generic terrain packs will be great for newcomers.

    Great video breakdown / review. I hear you on economy of scale. I feel the Battle Box, Master set, Jungle and Water terrain packs are at fair price points. Land terrain is a bit high, but still OK. The wave 2 figure only packs are just too high for either versions. I think the $20 difference between them is perfect, but the starting $45 for 4 or 5 unpainted figures is nuts!

    I think you hit the nail on the head with the optimistic view on commons. If we assume they are selling 2-3 times as many copies of each distinct model for commons vs. uniques, they should be able to achieve some additional economies of scale and reduce the cost somewhat. That said, if they come out with commons at the $45/65 price point it will be a serious problem so hopefully they can offer a pretty significant discount.

    Also lets keep in mind land tiles break. A few of mine certainly has. Don't get me started on lava and water. All in all a great release. Only thing I'd have done differently would be to add a bit more terrain since the first battle box had terrain and figures. Like 20 hexes plus the figures would have been nice, but whatevs

    Honestly, as someone who’s coming back into the game after having all their stuff thrown out as a kid (🙄), I’m super happy to have the option to acquire terrain pieces. I’m basically starting over, so having the option to pick up more pieces to play around with is super appealing.

    I really doubt they will give out the rest of AOA in the next 2 waves because wave 2 was so small and the time between wave 1 and 2 will be about equal to the time between 2 and 3 and 4. But we will see

    I'll pass on the terrain packs because I have enough land, and I'm replacing my water with hex mats for easier set up and tear down. But I really want that kyrie set because I just have to collect all unique hero kyrie. They give me second in command/commander vibes. Their faction general (jandar, utgar etc.) sends orders to their commanders (the kyrie) and the kyrie carry them out

    So $65 for painted miniatures feels steep but in context of other miniature games it's actually pretty good value. Warhammer for example sells unpainted unassembled miniatures for that price and a lot of time you have to buy the packs more than once. I agree though the price point is troubling to me.

    We will never see common squads because Renegade is going to work through all of AoA first and the price point will cause the game to fail before they finish.

      @1teamski I was a child during the inital print run and the collector in me wanted packs I didn't own. So most of my collection was single packs of commons. Even if you only get one or two squads of commons they still have a place in the game. One of the great things about Heroscape is that it's never been sold in blind bags and you get to choose what intrests you.

    as a long time board gamer and war gamer im surprised that people are complaining about the price. if you compare unpainted figures 45 dollars a set so slightly less than 10 dollars a figure. this is pretty standard. most war games price figures about 10 dollars for unpainted and unassembled. now after you figure the unpainted costs, 20 dollars extra to paint the figures to the level that they are showing is pretty darn good. the battle boxes and starter boxes are obviously cheaper, this is also pretty standard for war games and board games. I doubt that renegade is losing money on the battle boxes, but I am sure there is a higher margin on the expansions, there always is.
    the tldr, the pricing is fairly industry standard.

    • @marcbennett9232

      my biggest concern is what happens when the age of annihilation content is finished. when renegade starts creating new content, how well will they do with balance etc. also, does anyone know if renegade purchased the rights or are they licensing them?

      One of them only has 4 figures which means over $11 each for unpainted minis.
      Just because Warhammer is crazily overpriced should be irrelevant. Warhammer people are nuts and will remortgage there house to build an army.

    • @marcbennett9232
      @marcbennett9232 2 месяца назад +1

      @schmuckytheraiderbear5043 the 4 figure one has a larger figure so it's comparable to 5. And the average of 10 per figure is standard for many companies, I said it was fairly standard in the industry and I am correct. Warhammer actually averages more than 10 per figure. Do you want me to cite examples?

    • @schmuckytheraiderbear5043
      @schmuckytheraiderbear5043 2 месяца назад

      @@marcbennett9232 I can site a ton of miniature sets for much less than $10/figure. Just because there's a few companies that charge that much doesn't mean it's industry standard.

      When Avalon Hill was running the show, I said I'd pay more for a Premium Edition that had painted figures. I'm not painting figures and I'm not going to learn. Renegade delivered. I forked over my cash. I'm happy with my Wave 1, and looking forward to Wave 2. I'll buy terrain packs as desired or needed to replace. Keep it coming, Renegade. I feel like the price point is just the product of the times. While expensive, its about on par with other games. Hopefully commons come out soon, as I'm worried about backstock that cant sell if everyone already owns the uniques. All depends on their cost to produce and box
