      Agreed! Walking outside and inside (treadmill) is my main form of exercise. Maybe a short amount of weightlifting which is not even worth tracking.
      Walking, sleeping, resting (or background) heartrate, maybe sleeping SPO2 are the most important metrics for me to track.

    I had my first Mi Band 4 for 3 years and today I have a Miband 7 and a Huawei GT Pro 3. I have to confess that despite knowing that the Mi Band is crap, it attracts me a lot. I love the simplicity, the design and the more than two weeks of battery life. For me, it is practical, cheap and everything I need for my day to day life. I am considering buying a Pixel 4 in the future because I live alone and it has some security features that I find very relevant. Other than that, I continue with my Mi Band.

  • @gwendolynveronica
    @gwendolynveronica 10 дней назад +1

    I'm always so excited to get notified about your new videos on MiBands!
    I've had the MiBands 7, 8, and 9. I didn't use them much for exercise tracking, mostly as a general tracker for my sleep, since I used to have some issues.
    Honestly, I did have a very good experience with the 7 tracking my sleep. It felt like it caught my wake-ups within the minute. I decided to upgrade to the 8, and frequently found it recording I was asleep 20 minutes past the time I had actually woken up. I was seriously disappointed, and waited eagerly for the 9. I'm now finally wearing the 9, and I absolutely feel it is an improvement from the 8, but it does not compare to the 7. I'm always hoping for software updates to come around to improve the sleep tracking, but I'm always disappointed. Your sleep data just about perfectly reflects my personal experience with the Mi Bands.
    I've just ordered the 9 Pro, I'm hoping it'll be better. Please do a video on the 9 Pro too!

      I think that the reason for this is :
      when tracking an intense activity, the sensor takes more readings, with more processing to for a reliable good reading, while when you're walking (less intense activity), xiaomi wants to save power/energy, using less readings and processing, making the data less reliable

    • @stureericsson9545
      @stureericsson9545 10 дней назад

      You best have it set to take the heart rate at one minute intervalls(or does smart interval take take h.r.more frequent during more intense movements?(i.e.&exercise wirh higher heart rates?).

    • @muhwyndham
      @muhwyndham 4 дня назад

      My best bet as a software engineer is that their HR tracking is not always turned on but turned on based on event. The event that they tracks is using proximity sensor deviation.
      In walking, the deviation is considerably smaller (you swing your hand less and your body bounce less) so there's possibility that there's less event to trigger the HR tracking, resulting in not so good details (like highs and lows), but maybe acceptable average.

    Bought one about a month ago when the glass on my Band 4 eventually broke and rendered it unusable.
    I obviously bought it for price and battery longevity. Not so much for accuracy.
    Few remarks on the device overall: i like the much slimmer/flatter profile compared to earlier Mi Band devices. Also the metal shell seems to make it more durable.
    The screen is significantly improved in both the brightness, resolution, size and refresh rate.
    The bad thing is that the default wrist rest is still the same silicone one. From my experience from Band 4 i can tell that this will break apart in a year forcing me to buy a new wrist rest to replace it.
    Battery lasts just about 7 days like i want with maxed out brightness, heart rate, blood oxygen and heart rate monitoring. I disabled the stress monitoring as it seemed pretty useless. First few days after charging the battery quickly loses 20-30% of the charge but holds up very well in the 70-20% range. Below 20% it again starts draining quicker and offers to enable battery saver at 5%.
    This is with five days of nighttime outdoor walking (about 8km) and two 40 minute weight lifting sessions in a week.
    So far im happy and it's a clear upgrade from my old Band 4 model.

    Hey there! Your videos are super interesting and helpful. I used them to help me decide my last watch to buy and I'm watching again to decide if that should change any time soon. However, I have 2 suggestions that I think would make the data visualization more clear AND impactful to the viewers (would be cool to hear your thoughts even if you don't agree!)
    1. The current line chart used for heart rate correlation and order seems a bit confusing. I feel like correlation should be on the Y axis as the independent variable, and the position on the X axis. This way, you could also have a bar chart where it's easier to compare how close/far in correlation each device is. Right now the vertical line makes it feel like their heights should be compared (given how we generally read graphs) but they're all linearly spaced because it represents the position and not the correlation. Hope that makes sense.
    2. Would be very very interesting to plot some of these correlations/accuracy/performance with another variable on the other axis like Price. That way, we can see the price to performance correlation and if there are any positive or negative outliers when it comes to price. It looks like you always research the price and mention it so I feel like incorporating this into the visualization would be great :)

    Hey Rob, I have a request-please let me know once you've read this.
    There's an Indian RUclipsr named TechBurner who recently launched his own smartwatch after reviewing gadgets for over a decade. He claims that the watch’s UI and tracking capabilities are on par with Apple Watches, but it’s priced incredibly affordably-under $100.
    What’s even more impressive is that his team built the smartwatch entirely from scratch, showcasing the power of RUclips creators and their communities. If his claims are true and this watch is genuinely being sold at a low-profit margin compared to established brands, it could revolutionize the market and become a fantastic budget-friendly option.
    Could you please test this watch? I feel it has the potential to be a real game-changer!

      The Huawei Band 9 is definitely much better. You can see the measurements for the Huawei Band 9 (left) in the diagrams. In most cases, the Huawei Band performs better. I personally own both devices, and while the Xiaomi has a faster CPU, better display, and more responsive touch, the Huawei Band has superior sensors and software that makes much more of your measurements than the Xiaomi Band. Additionally, the Huawei Band’s display can show more information with a well-sized, readable font, compared to the Xiaomi. The Xiaomi Band is fine and is a good choice if you want very simple software. The Huawei, on the other hand, is more complex, so it may not be ideal for users who aren’t ready to invest some time in learning the software.

    I think wrist circumference can play a rol there, those bands are made for Chinese population which has a slim complexion, you could analyze it maybe in a female wrist? It would be interesting

    Hello! I would like to present my recent feedback about HR monitoring with MiBand 9. During the day it measures just fine (working at my laptop, cooking, etc and even within intense periods like working out, the HR sensor works fine). However, at night, while I'm sitting/lying in the couch watching some TV, the band starts record values like 125-130bpm . When I manually start measure HR, it starts at 125-130bpm and after that goes down to 55-50-46bpm. In the next minute it's high again - and I still remained relaxed in the couch...Do you have any insight on how to avoid/correct this?
    I've already sent back the first one to the warranty - they said it was fine. I bought a new one, the problem remains...

    I would be very interested in a scientific comparison of various apps such as Bevel or Atlythic on such things as recovery, VO2max, sleep and other parameters since I do get some significant differences and wondering where the „truth“ is.

    Can you please put in the description the scientific papers related to sleep quality pls. The thing is that I’m thinking on buying a garmin venu 2, because I really love its design and some other features that the garmin watches provides, like body battery. But after watching your video and seeing that essential features like sleep tracking (which was the main reason because I wanted it) were not so great. But I still wonder if those results were so bad because of your physiology or it is not a great watch for sleep tracking

    Tested a Mi Band 8 Pro against a Pace 2/H10, it's similarly unpredictable. Walks for me were almost all wrong, 90bpm was 120 on the MiBand, likely cadence locked. Running outside can be good, even in cold weather, which is quite stunning. Usually comes like -1bpm compared to the H10, as the band has difficulties at the start somewhat. Some runs were horrific though, and the band just stuck at 220 or was -10, -20 bpm than the H10. Seems that it needs to be quite tight on the wrist, and for me at least, quite near the hand. Weight lifting generally bad, no spike detection as expected.
    Their app is horrible though. Seldomly updated and buggy.
    Oh, and the HR detection at rest is also bad. Especially for athletes with low RHR. You'll see figures like 120 bpm during the night or working at a desk, so the watch just makes up data when it cannot measure it.
