Had the chance of seeing this match live in Quebec City infront of 15000+ fans it was and still is the best match i have ever seen live, too bad theres no video footage of it. Ric's memory of the night is a bit off as they didnt even went last but that was the card July 22nd, 1986 (Colisée de Québec, Québec City-15,297 in attendance) Ron Ritchie/Gino Brito, Jr. W Toshiaki/The Spoiler (7 :04) Dan Kroffat D. Sheik Ali Alofa W Bob De La Serra (12 :20) Abdullah the Butcher beats Kareem Muhammad in a chain match (15 :25) Dino Bravo W Great Samu (11 :45) Rick Martel D. Ric Flair : DRAW (45 min) Road Warriors /Tom Zenk W Steve Strong/ Long Riders by DQ Toshiaki in the opener was indeed Toshiaki Kawada Dan Kroffat was Phil Lafon in wwf Alofa was Rikishi in wwf, Great Samu went on to the SST and the Headshinkers in wwf
The event that Ric is eluding to took place at the Quebec Colisee on a wonderful July evening. The place was packed with more than 14,000 sports fan. Abdullah The Butcher wrestled Kareem Muhammed that night and the match is here on RUclips. Just make a quick search . It was electric. The noise from the crowd was phenomenal. And what took place was Gino Brito wanted to have Martel win by DQ. But the NWA would not have it. It wasn't negotiable . Either Flair pins Martel or it's a one hour draw. It did turn out to be a great match !!!
Baba dropped the cash. End of story. Baba always had a lose wallet. Dropped ten thousand just to make himself the NWA Worlds Champion for a couple day. Did it more than once. Why Brody always gave working for him top priority.
And continued the tradition when Ric Flair (as NWA Champ) and Bob Backlund (as WWWF Champ) had a 1982 double countout in The Omni with both belts on the line.🤔🎤🤼♂️B.W.
Hold on a second, Rick Martel was a really good wrestler, but he was not better than Ric Flair. Ric Flair is the GOAT. Professional wrestling is entertainment and it is not college wrestling and it is not the UFC. Professional wrestling has a lot to do with interviews, interacting with the audience, selling other wrestlers moves, good wrestling skills in the ring, and styling and profiling. Just remember Ric Flair spent more money on spilt liquor last year than Rick Martel made. Wooooo.
Rick Martel is severely underrated.
Ric Flair vs Ric Martel was wrestling gold. I loved watching both of them. Loved all of Martels matches with Hansen as well
Ric and Martel was a good match, had it on video tape years ago.
Nice..glad to see flair credit Martel.. A great talent!
I’ve seen that match. Great match. I think it’s right here on RUclips if anyone wants to watch it
Ric uploading while the Rumble is happening, love to see it. WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
Well he obv knows more about the show than a regular person watching

Does madden think ric is deaf or Is madden deaf but one thing for sure ric will be deaf listening too the shouts of madden everyweek
It might have been Quebec City ... I think that was also Martels home town.
I was thinking that too .
@@richardmount543 in 85 wouldn't Quebec City be the only other city in Quebec that had a big arena capable of handling Flair v Martel ?
7-22-86
They also wrestled in Chicago
In his book he talked about that 70 minutes match and it was Québec city
Talk about George Hackenschmidt and his legacy in wrestling
Lol
@@doubles7533 What?
They should have this on PPV ..no American coverage ... very little coverage in the Apter Mags ... smh Crockett and Verne dropped the ball.

Hey, Ric I’m a true fan of yours I think this clown is pressuring you!!!..which is not cool. He need to freaking relax you are RIC FUCKING FLAIR!!!!!…
Woo!
First! WOOOOO!!!!
Wasn’t this a double count out?
Title vs title matches up those days ended in double count outs, double disqualifications, or draws
that was the tokyo match in 85
The model. Rick martell. I thought was a great gimmick 👋
Why
québec !
So he doesn't remember
Great wrestler. My favorite is the AWA days and of course the model....with that scent sprayer, arrogance!
Martell was a badass , ric Martell was a better wrestler

@@stonecoldflipper9503 your right, flair was a showman, martel was a great technical wrestler, but people paid to see flair
Rick is the worst at telling stories if no alcohol involved
Mark Madden is insufferable.
Never liked Martel, he has way too much Arrogance.
🙄
