    This was the purest drag racing today's racing relies on computerized technology almost self driving car's.

      I don't watch the new cars very often, I didn't realize how much technology took over, I bet nascar's the same.

    LOL, I can remember my oldest brother trailering his car to church on Sunday mornings, and getting the Priest to Bless the car. He won pretty regularly so maybe there was something to it. He always gave 10% of his winnings.

    @6:20 Tom “the Snake” Jones, one of the original godfathers of Dyno Don’s brand-new ‘65 factory monster Comet, in gazing at the car today, looks like he’s trying not to weep.

    About 10 years ago I bought a single quad 427 High Riser intake manifold that someone had inscribed "Lady Bug" by hand on one of the runners. The guy that sold it to me had no idea what that meant. At the time, Net searches revealed nothing, so I assumed it was just some weirdness, maybe some dude's wife's nickname or something. Watching this vid at 5:54, I now know where this part came from. Keep up the good work, Jim!

    Thanks to Jim Amos for all his work. I appreciate his promotional videos of the 422 Allstars N/SS series. Jim videoed drivers and races of that series. I raced a white 66 Chevelle in the 422 Allstars. Thanks to Burtonsville Performance Machine Service for building me a trouble free constant engine.

      Early 70's I remember riding shotgun down the quarter mile with my brother in law at the wheel and his Olympia beer can on the dash.
      This was at the Hawaii Raceway Park on Oahu.
      The drag strip closed at any time from 3:30 am to 5:30 am on any Sat or Sun every week, opening at 6pm.
      Stock at the time went anywhere from low 13's to high 11's
      Was as fun as a cup and throw fart.

    The only way Jenkins could “beat up” on the hemis , is the nova weighing 700 lbs less. To put that in perspective, a fully dressed 440 weighs 670 lbs. I’d love to see the nova run with a 440 in the trunk for ballast 😂😂😂😂

    At Fremont drag strip waited till the loud roar of the engines then knew everyone’s attention was on that race then hopped the chain link fence. Was only 12, or 13 years. Didn’t have the $3.00 entrance. Just the $1.00 pit pass fee

    • @dannyruble5488
      @dannyruble5488 4 года назад

      steve tidd how old are you? I think that was entrance fee for me when l ran my Corvair and ,later, GTO on Wednesday Grudge Nights . But, all is relative. I was making 2.54 and car payments of 81.99 on the Pontiac after the corvair down and the blonde gave me the buck fifty pick up payment. Those were the days.
