  • Friendliest catch on the @elli-yacht starts with us leaving Sucia Island and headed to San Juan Island for some protected anchorage. We spent one night anchored in Roche Harbor and 2 nights on the dock with our friends. We made the trip over to Westcott Bay from Roche Harbor on the dinghy for some oysters Yum! Then we were headed off to Stuart Island which is just a hop, skip and a jump from Roche Harbor to find a spot in Reid Harbor. Since the Canadian border is closed it was super busy but we found a spot to anchor and enjoyed the evening and dropped the crab pot which turned out to be a success with some pretty big crab. The next day we hiked up to the School House and then up to the Light house station which was 3 miles each way. And since people have been asking we talked about our boating history. Jon has been boating since he was a baby and Karlynn had some childhood memories fishing in Moses Lake. We have owned three boats together with our first being a 2005 44' Navigator, our second one was the lake boat on Lake Washington where we had a 2014 26' Cobalt and now our current boat which is the 2010 48' Navigator.
We then were able to catch some more dungeness crab later that night. The next day Karlynn went for a walk over to Prevost Harbor which is on the North side of Stuart Island and is another protected place to anchor. But before we left we had some crab to clean and cook up in the Instant Pot which is an easy and fast way to cook up dungeness crab. We have cooked chili, mac and cheese, hard boiled eggs, pork ribs, spot prawns and crab just to name a few of our favorites. The Instant Pot is definitely our favorite cooking appliance on the boat!

You can spend an entire year sailing the West coast inside waterways without exhausting the incalculable grand vistas. Being so close to Canada you really really have to make a trip up to Haida Gwaii for some awesome Pacific wild salmon or buy fresh local native caught fish. You can take the slower I side route or the open ocean past Vancouver Island. Those crabs looked delicious. I love to cook and have thought about buying an Instant Pot the big ultra, you might’ve convinced me girl.... Great video! PS your going to need more storage space for all those photos and videos of our combined spectacular west coasts.

You guys killed it up there! I was in the islands from Aug 29 thru Sept 13 and didn't get near the amount of crab you did. We went all the same places though, so it's fun to see the same trip through your eyes. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to the next video!

We were up there about the same time but Jon had a feeling for this spot and he nailed it!

What brand of bottom sonar do you use? The bottom topography (or is that bottomogaphy) was fantastic? Doing a bottom job on my 53/Navigator and think that would be a great addition.

Thank you! We actually have some sensitive viewers that don't want to see it. But to the rest of us it is exciting and delish!!
