  • The church of St. Lawrence is the main Lutheran evangelical place of worship in the Bavarian city of Nuremberg, Germany, home of the principal of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Bavaria. It is a large Gothic building, one of the best examples of this style in the city, built between 1250 and 1477. In the Middle Ages the free city of Nuremberg was divided into two parts by the river Pegnitz. The church of St. Lawrence was built in the medieval village south of the river, later becoming the parish church, as opposed to the other large parish of San Sebaldo, in the northern district. Severely damaged in the Second World War, the church was scrupulously restored according to the original plans.
